It's that time of the year again-predicting the 6 state football championship games. The Milk Bowls presented by the United Dairymen of Idaho are here!! And, as always, all six games will be webcast by idahosports.com.
5A: Coeur d' Alene Vikings vs Centennial Patriots. Since this game is being played up north, making it more of a home game for the Vikings, I will go with them 28-21. Game time is Friday 7 pm pst at the Kibbie Dome.
4A: Bishop Kelly Knights vs Blackfoot Broncos. The Knights not only have a perfect season on the line, but every other team sport this fall has already won a state title. Yep, the boys/girls soccer, boys/girls cross country, and volleyball teams won state. Incredible! Can you say recruit? I'll go with the hot school. BK 38 Blackfoot 17. Game time is Saturday 1 pm mst at BSU.
3A: Fruitland Grizzlies vs Snake River Panthers. I believe this will be Fruitland's 5th straight title game appearance, an incredible feat in itself. Each year I pick an upset special, and it might as well be this one. They got a scare from Weiser last week, and the Panthers will scare them even more 28-27. Game time is Saturday 4 pm mst at BSU.
2A: Malad Dragons vs West Side Pirates. These two teams already played this year with the Dragons winning easily 48-12. The Pirates will be fired up for the title game and the game will be closer, but in the end the Dragons will celebrate their first football title with a 40-28 victory and complete an undefeated season. Game time is Friday 6 pm mst at Holt Arena.
1A Div 1: Grace Grizzlies vs Troy Trojans. The Grizzlies find themselves in the title game even after opening the season 0-5. They rattled off six straight wins to reach the title game in their first year in this division after dropping down from the 2A level. As Yogi said, it ain't over till it's over. However, they draw a perennial 1A powerhouse in the Trojans. Troy has an unbeaten season on the line, and they will remain perfect with a 45-38 victory. Game time is Friday 4pm pst at the Kibbie Dome, making it a home game for the Trojans.
1A Div 2: Carey Panthers vs Garden Valley Wolverines. Is it just my imagination or are the Panthers in the title game almost every year? I heard that the last time they were not in the playoffs was in 1991. If that is true, they don't rebuild, they reload. Garden Valley has won their share of playoff games, as well, but the Panthers will prevail in a wild one 55-49. Game time is Saturday at 1pm mst at Eagle High School.
