Team Preview

Laraine Harrison returns to the sidelines in Pocatello, hoping to continue the success that she, and last season's interim Head Coach Brock Gunter, have built.

All-Idaho Second Team point guard Carly Parker returns for her senior season after averaging 10.5 points and 4 assists per game last season, leading a solid offensive attack. While the offensive ability of Parker will benefit Pocatello again this season, her biggest impact comes on the other end of the floor. Within a zone defense last season, Parker manned the top, stealing a whopping 111 passes throughout the year, helping propel the Indians to a 13-11 overall mark.

With the 5’9” Parker at the top of the zone, figuring out how to score against Pocatello’s defense should be a struggle for teams again this season.

“We are going to get after it defensively and hope our defense leads to easy transition baskets for our team,” said Harrison. “We will change the defenses up throughout the game.”

Senior forward Madi Smith and her 5’10’ frame should help down low for the Indians, complementing Parker well.

Key newcomers for Harrison’s squad will be guards Katelyn Lane and Riley Pearson. The new players should help ignite things on the offensive end.

“We are going to get out in transition offense and look for easy baskets to make up for our lack of size and hopefully use our quickness to our advantage,” said Harrison.

While the team will be young for the most part, the few upperclassmen who return should help with the transition to varsity basketball for the rest.

“We have a pretty new, somewhat young team, but they are extremely feisty and ready to work hard,” said Harrison. “They have senior Carly Parker who returns as a veteran to help lead them.”

Expect Pocatello and Century to compete for supremacy in the 4A Districts 5-6 Conference again this season.
