Districts are here! Districts are here! Most conferences start their district play this week! As we look over the top teams overall for Idaho high school, we find familiar teams that are always there in many 6A teams leading. What has become an exciting and rewarding come back year for a smaller school, Bear Lake. Bear Lake is ranked in the top ten schools for volleyball out of the whole state.

Bear Lake lost early on in the state tournament last year and they also were second in their district. This has helped motivate this young team to new heights. They have 3 senior leaders, but overall a very young team. Young, but not inexperienced. This season is coming to a close and the fighting bears are currently 23-3 losing to some tough 6A opponents and Sugar-Salem earlier this season.

The Bears are relying on Saydee Shaul, senior Libero to control most of the defense and serve receive. Saydee is leading the new 4 A division in overall digs. Shaul is scrappy and has the read to see things happening on the court before they happen. She is also top 5 for the whole state in overall digs! She is also an excellent server, so with a player who understand the serve and pass game so well, bear lake has remained consistent!  What a weapon to have for the Bears!

More senior weapons for this team are Brynlee Birch, outside hitter and Tayzley Neal, defensive specialist. Birch leads her team with kills per set and hitting percentage, while Neal helps control the backrow with Shaul. Beyond stats, Brynlee, Neal, and Saydee are experienced and helping keep their teammates ready.

What a team, looking over stats for the 4A division for hitting percentage you will find 4 bears at the top of the list, Avery Hunter is a freshman middle blocker, Kortlynn Skinner a junior outside hitter, Halle Wells another middle blocker join Brynlee at the top of this list. This shows what team consistency they have, they are firing on all cylinders! These girls accept and understand their role and their team chemistry seems to be very consistent and they are playing very well together.
