All senior nights are now over as we close the regular season for high school volleyball in Idaho. There are lots of emotions for seniors as this is this their last shot to leave their mark for their high school! Emotions will remain high as we head into districts and see who earns their way to state this coming week!

This year we get to see the unique challenges and opportunities at all levels of play and all levels of experience. Some teams are older, some are playing younger players and some have a mix of young and more experienced players. There are also teams who have formed chemistry just this year and others who have chemistry of 4 years or more together. This season so many teams are playing high level volleyball because they are loaded with senior leaders and Timberline is one of them. The Wolves boast 10 seniors and their roster runs deep with talent as they fight their way to the top of 5A volleyball.

Arianna Lienke, Courtney Cline, Gentry Powell, Ava Brickner, Kayleigh Riddle, Katie Ryder, Vivian Klucken, Claire Ryder, Keara Graham, and Aly Cox together make the 10 skillful seniors for Timberline this year. These girls held their epic Senior Night against a familiar foe in Boise on Wednesday night. The Wolves swept the Brave in their Southern Idaho Conference match.

Gentry Powell is a consistent hitter as she always holds a high hitting percentage and takes advantage of every set. Gentry is in the top 7 for hitting percentage in 5A volleyball.

Her teammate, Courtney Cline, is also a middle blocker.  She is doing her thing and getting lots of blocks and block touches every game to help her team. Cline is currently in the top 14 for all of Idaho for total blocks.

Ava Brickner, another senior, leads the way in kills and digs. Brickner is currently in the top 5 for hitting percentage for 5A volleyball and top 14 for all of Idaho. She uses her court sense and hustle to lead her team in digs, averaging 2.6 digs per set for the Wolves. Talk about a team who has so much talent!

Aly Cox, yet another spectacular senior, is the 5A Hitting percentage leader and is #3 for All of the Idaho.  Aly is a hard hitter and makes the smart shots to be lead her team in kills and hitting percentage. Aly started playing volleyball in 6th grade and then joined Idaho Crush Club in 7th grade. Aly recently decided to play college volleyball at University of the Pacific in California. Cox decided on Pacific among other opportunities because of their team culture and the tradition that Pacific has in her own family.

Both of her parents attended U of P and her mom shared her competitive spirit with Aly, as mom also played University of Pacific volleyball.  When Aly’s mom was a part of the program, the Tigers played for a national championship! Aly has loved volleyball since a very young age and she feels strongly that this is where important relationships were formed, where she learned many important life lessons, and where amazing coaches shaped her into who she is today.

This year has flown by for Aly, but she is excited to get to finish one last season surrounded by her best friends. She knows the Wolves have been working hard so far this season and they are gearing up for district battles and hope to reach all of their goals. Aly wants everyone to know that Timberline volleyball is special and she will miss her Wolves dearly. Cox wanted to make sure to express her gratitude for Timberline’s volleyball program for the culture they created, the dedication of the players, and her committed coaches that she states are like “no other” and she is proud to represent them everyday!

Go Wolves! We wish you the best of luck in these last two weeks of high school volleyball! We are beyond excited for these battles coming to see who is crowned district champs and what powerhouses remain at top and what Cinderella tales unfold. It all comes down to this!
