Welcome to "Primetime Pitchers", where each week, we'll highlight the top pitching performances across baseball and softball diamonds around the state of Idaho.
We will select one pitching performance for each day of the week. Think of it as the best pitching line for that particular day.
If you'd like to nominate a Primetime Pitcher, send an email to brandon@idahosports.com.
Without further ado, let's get to it!
BASEBALL
Sage Medeiros, 12, Sandpoint (Friday, May 8)
Medeiros threw a five inning no-hitter as Sandpoint defeated Hillcrest 10-0 at the 5A North Regional. The junior walked two and struck out eight.
Teague Fox, 12, North Star Charter (Saturday, May 9)
Fox helped steer North Star Charter into the 2A State Tournament with a dominant performance in a 9-1 win over Prairie at the 2A Regional Qualifier. Fox pitched all seven innings, and allowed one run on only three hits with nine strikeouts.
SOFTBALL
Hailey Brennan, 11, Owyhee (Monday, May 4)
We're running out of ways for Brennan to clear the lofty bar she continually sets for herself. How about a perfect game? How about a seven inning perfect game? How about a perfect game where 18 of the 21 outs recorded were strikeouts? How about the perfect game coming in the 6A District 3 tournament opening round, a 5-0 win over Meridian? Any others questions?
Hailey Bock, 10, Owyhee (Tuesday, May 5)
Bock nearly followed up Brennan's perfect game on Monday with a perfecto of her own. Alas, an error defensively prevented the second consecutive perfect game for Owyhee. Bock instead settled for a seven inning no-hitter, with no walks and 15 strikeouts. Owyhee shut out Mountain View 5-0 in a 6A District 3 tournament semifinal game.
Oakley Scheibe, 11, Emmett (Wednesday, May 6)
Emmett upset Bishop Kelly in a 5A District 3 tournament loser out game, and Scheibe's pitching was a key factor. In the Huskies' 6-1 win, Scheibe held the BK bats to one unearned run on just three hits, with 11 strikeouts and no walks across seven innings of work.
Gracie Longhurst, 11, Bonneville (Thursday, May 7)
With Bonneville needing a win to clinch a spot at state, Longhurst once again delivered for her team, as the Bees dispatched Shelley 6-0 in the 5A District 6 third place game. Longhurst pitched all seven innings and allowed one hit and two walks, along with 12 strikeouts.
Abby Helmholz, 11, Lakeland (Friday, May 8)
Helmholz went the distance in Lakeland's 6-0 win over Sandpoint in their 5A District 1-2 tournament opener. Across seven innings of work, Helmholz limited the Sandpoint bats to just three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Ellie Keller, 10, Preston (Saturday, May 9)
Keller pitched the Indians to the 4A District 5 championship with a 12-1 win over Marsh Valley. Keller pitched five innings, and scattered six hits and one unearned run with seven strikeouts and three walks.
