Welcome to "Heavy Hitters", where each week, we'll highlight the top hitting performances across baseball and softball diamonds around the state of Idaho.
We will select one single-game hitting performance for each day of the week. Think of it as the best hitting line for that particular day.
If you'd like to nominate a Heavy Hitter, send an email to brandon@idahosports.com.
Without further ado, let's get to it!
BASEBALL
Mason Reichelt, 11, Hillcrest (Monday, March 30)
Reichelt helped power Hillcrest to a 17-2 win over Century with a 3-for-3 showing that included a home run, three RBIs, three runs, three stolen bases and a walk.
Guy Krasselt, 12, Lewiston (Tuesday, March 31)
Krasselt was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, four stolen baes, two RBIs, and two runs scored as Lewiston defeated Clarkston (Washington), 12-2.
Makai Ferguson, 12, Idaho Falls (Wednesday, April 1)
This might be one of the strangest lines you'll see all year. Ferguson officially was 0-for-0, as he did not record an official at-bat, and yet he was able to steal six bases and score four runs. How so? Ferguson, in his four trips to the plate, was hit by a pitch all four times.
Chase Casagrande, 10, Bishop Kelly (Thursday, April 2)
Casagrande went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, five RBIs and three runs scored as Bishop Kelly blitzed Emmett, 16-1.
Gavin Webb, 12, Bonneville (Friday, April 3)
Webb finished 2-for-2, and he made both of those hits count with two home runs, seven RBIs and three runs scored. Webb reached base an additional three times with two walks and a hit-by-pitch as Bonneville defeated Blackfoot 23-7.
MaCraye Bruning, 12, Kimberly (Saturday, April 4)
Bruning led Kimberly to a 7-5 win over Teton by going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, two stolen bases, and a run scored.
SOFTBALL
Addy Herrera, 10, Cole Valley Christian (Monday, March 30)
Herrera went 4-for-5 in the Chargers' 28-1 dispatching of Fruitland, which is impressive enough. But Herrera elevated the performance by ensuring that all four of her hits were home runs. That's right: four home runs, nine RBIs and four runs scored.
Lily Bittinger, 12, Skyview (Tuesday, March 31)
Bittinger finished 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double as Skyview ran past Emmett, 14-6. The senior added six RBIs and three runs scored.
Kayla Mendez, 12, American Falls (Wednesday, April 1)
Mendez went 2-for-2 with two home runs, two walks, six RBIs and two runs scored in American Falls' 20-3 win over Marsh Valley.
Peyton Shook, 11, Nampa Christian (Thursday, April 2)
Shook homered twice for the Trojans in their 26-0 victory over Vision Charter. The junior finished a perfect 5-for-5 with two homers, two doubles, six RBIs, five runs scored, and a stolen base.
Ali Knowles, 12, Mountain View (Friday, April 3)
Knowles went 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double as Mountain View defeated Centennial 14-7. The senior added five RBIs and three runs scored.
Emma McGuire, 11, Blackfoot (Saturday, April 4)
After homering earlier in the contest, McGuire left the yard a second time. Her second blast was a three-run walk-off shot that gave the Broncos an 11-10 win in eight innings over Bonneville. McGuire finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs scored.
