Welcome to "Heavy Hitters", where each week, we'll highlight the top hitting performances across baseball and softball diamonds around the state of Idaho.

We will select one single-game hitting performance for each day of the week.  Think of it as the best hitting line for that particular day.

BASEBALL

 

Ryan Yesford, 11, Mountain View (Monday, March 23)

Yesford rapped two base hits (a double and a triple) as part of a 2-for-3 showing overall.  Yesford added four RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base as the Mavericks turned back Columbia 11-1.

Dawson Peterson, 11, Malad (Tuesday, March 24)

Peterson went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double in the Dragons' 10-1 win over Sugar-Salem.  Peterson also reached based on a hit-by-pitch, and added four RBIs, two runs and two stolen bags.

Wyatt Barber, 12, Marsing (Wednesday, March 25)

Barber was a perfect 3-for-3 in the Huskies' 17-0 victory over Garden Valley.  Barber finished with a double, two singles, four RBIs, two runs scored, two stolen bases, and a hit-by-pitch.

Jaxon Klein, 11, Skyline (Thursday, March 26)

Klein finished one double shy of hitting for the cycle, tallying a 3-for-3 line that included a single, triple and home run.  Klein also drew a walk, and finished with seven RBIs and two runs scored as the Grizzlies defeated their rivals from Idaho Falls, 17-6.

Zayden Rogers, 10, Wendell (Friday, March 27)

Rogers actually did hit for the cycle in the Trojans' 21-11 win over Garden Valley, finishing 4-for-5 with a single, double, triple and home run.  He added five RBIs and three runs scored.

Dylan Warth, 12, Vision Charter (Saturday, March 28)

Warth burned up the basepaths in a 21-1 win over Idaho City.  The senior finished 3-for-4, and also reached on a hit-by-pitch.  Once Warth was on base, he ran wild, stealing five bases, scoring four runs, and driving in two runs.

 

SOFTBALL

 

Olivia Smith, 11, Potlatch (Monday, March 23)

In a 17-4 runaway over Clarkston (Washington), Smith finished a perfect 4-for-4 with four singles and walk.  She drove in two runs and also scored twice herself, and stole five bases on the day, as well.

Joci Lee, 12, Kellogg (Tuesday, March 24)

Lee slugged a home run as part of a 5-for-6 showing in Kellogg's 27-3 win over Clearwater Valley.  Lee added seven RBIs, three runs scored and two steals.

Lisa Peck, 12, Marsh Valley (Wednesday, March 25)

Peck reached base four times in a 13-9 victory over Firth, finishing 3-for-5 with two singles, a double, and a walk.  She added five RBIs and four stolen bases.

Chloe Scott, 11, Emmett (Thursday, March 26)

Scott made the most of her three at-bats in Emmett's 26-2 win over Columbia, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run, six RBIs, three runs scored and a steal.

Kingsley Shea, 10, Bishop Kelly (Friday, March 27)

Shea went 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double in BK's 16-9 victory against Kuna.  She totaled five RBIs and three runs scored.

Brooke Austin, 11, Mountain View (Saturday, March 28)

Austin cracked two home runs as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate in an 18-0 win over Timberline.  Austin finished with six RBIs and three runs scored.
