ORDER GAME PHOTOS
It’s time for this week’s edition of Primetime Pitchers. Every Tuesday, we'll recap the five most dominating pitching performances from the past week of softball competition.
Why five? Because most pitching rotations carry five players.
I should note that these are single-game performances only. I don't have the math skills to pull off calculating weekly totals.
If you'd like to nominate an athlete for our Primetime Pitchers list, send an email to brandon@idahosports.com.
With that said, here's our list of Idaho softball's Primetime Pitchers, from the week of May 1st to May 6th. The performances will be listed in chronological order.
1. Kristine Schmidt, Sr, Coeur d’Alene
In a battle of the Inland Empire League’s two best squads, Coeur d’Alene defeated crosstown rival Lake City 5-1 on Tuesday, May 2nd. Schmidt was superb, throwing seven innings of three-hit, one-run ball for the Vikings. She also notched 14 strikeouts in the win.
2. Taylor Martinez, So, Glenns Ferry
In a Western Idaho Conference matchup on Tuesday, May 2nd, Martinez threw a no-hitter in a 19-1 win over Notus. Three walks and a fielding error were the only blemishes on Martinez’ final line. She finished with 9 strikeouts, as well.
3. Giselle Kump, Sr, Idaho Falls
Kump tossed a one-hitter in a 13-0 shutout victory over High Country Conference rival Bonneville on Tuesday, May 2nd. Kump also finished with seven strikeouts.
4. Kaliann Scoresby, Jr, Thunder Ridge
In a narrow 2-1 win over High Country Conference foe Highland on Wednesday, Scoresby delivered the goods. In seven innings of work, Scoresby pitched a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts. Four walks led to an unearned run, but that was the only mark against the talented junior
5. Emma Avalos, Jr, Lakeland
In the Hawks’ 13-0 Inland Empire League victory over Sandpoint on Saturday, May 6th, Avalos pitched a complete game two-hitter to lift Lakeland to the win in five innings.
