Fruitland and Weiser have locked down their position on the 3A state tournament bracket and won't move regardless of this week's outcomes on the field. With only one open spot remaining, it'll be either Parma, Payette, or Homedale that gets to continue their season.

This week, Fruitland hosts Parma and Payette is at Homedale. Here are the scenarios:

3A At-Large Berth

The 3A at-large berth this year is determined by the final MaxPreps ranking of each team. The team with the highest MaxPreps ranking in the 3A classification that has not clinched an automatic berth will be awarded the at-large berth.

There are only four teams in the 3A classification that have any legitimate shot at snagging the at-large berth should they fail to clinch an automatic bid. Those teams are Sugar-Salem, South Fremont, Gooding, and Homedale. The reason? Mainly because of their overall record and strength of schedule. As of October 17, MaxPreps has ranked those schools in the following order in the classification:

South Fremont: #4 overall
Sugar-Salem: #5 overall
Gooding: #6 overall
Homedale #8 overall

The final MaxPreps rankings will be released on Sunday night. Of those four teams, whichever one has not clinched an automatic berth and holds the highest ranking will be awarded the at-large berth.
