It's one more hurrah for high school football in the state before we wrap up the 2015-16 school year.

The 2016 East Idaho All-Star Football Game will take place Friday, May 27th at 7:00 pm at Blackfoot High School, featuring seniors from District 5 competing against seniors from District 6.

All-Star Game organizer Travis Hobson of Century High School said that fans can expect a fun, intense atmosphere at this year's event.

"This game is a unique opportunity for players to team up with former rivals to take on players from teams that still remain rivals," he said. "Each year, this game gets more exciting and this year looks to be just the same."

While football season has been finished since November, the quick transition into winter sports doesn't allow hardly any time to play an All-Star Game, especially with the winter weather in eastern Idaho.

"The game allows for those players who excelled on the gridiron in the fall to have one last chance to strap up the helmets and shoulder pads under the Friday night lights," Hobson said. "It also affords an opportunity to reward coaching staffs whose teams finished among the top in the state."

The coaching staff for District 5 will be comprised of Highland and Century coaches while the District 6 staff is made up of Rigby and Sugar-Salem coaches. All four of those schools represented on the coaching staffs each made it to the semi-finals of their respective classifications.

Hobson said that this year's game will feature a number of college signees on both teams with a chance to be seen by college once more for those that have yet to sign. Players have been picked up by colleges as a result of being seen in this game.

District 6 currently has a three-game winning streak in the All-Star Game.

This year's game is being sponsored by Donnelly Sports, Bingham Memorial Hospital, and Kulak Crossfit.

IdahoSports.com is proud to live stream the East Idaho All-Star Game once again this year. The game will be broadcast live with full video and audio... and, as always, for FREE.
