The Idaho High School Activities Association has ruled on the classification petitions of 11 different Idaho high schools looking to move up or down in classification for the 2016-18 cycle. Each school is listed below:

1. North Fremont - Petition to move up to 2A from 1AD1 was approved. Superintendents representative Dwight Richins said that North Fremont has competitive sports programs and are able to compete well at the 2A level.

2. Wallace - Petition to move down to 1AD1 from 2A was approved. Wallace is currently three students over the 1AD1 threshold and they anticipate those numbers dropping. Superintendents in 1AD1 voted 11-3 to approve the petition.

3. Lakeside - Petition to move down to 1AD2 from 1AD1 was approved. Lakeside is over the 1AD2 limit by about 10 students, but have successfully petitioned down in the past (they petitioned down during the last classification cycle).

4. Raft River - Petition to move up from 1AD2 to 1AD1 was approved. The superintendents voted unanimously to approve the move. Raft River is anticipating a lot of growth in their incoming classes.

5. Riverstone International - Petition to move up from 1AD2 to 1AD1 was approved. Riverstone's reason for the petition was due to travel concerns. They currently play all sports in 1AD1.

6. Coeur d'Alene Charter - Petition to move up to 3A from 2A was approved. The superintendents of 3A schools voted 7-6 to approve the move up. Their biggest concern was that Coeur d'Alene Charter does not field sub-varsity (JV/C) teams.

7. Valley - Petition to move down from 2A to 1AD1 was approved. Even though Valley's enrollment numbers are up this year, the school anticipated them dropping in the coming years. Only one member of Valley's league was not in support of them staying at 1AD1.

8. Horseshoe Bend - Petition to move up from 1AD2 to 1AD1 was approved. Horseshoe Bend's wish was to move up because of travel concerns. Voting superintendents were in favor of the move.

9. Genesee - Petition to move up from 1AD2 to 1AD1 was approved. The voting superintendents were in favor of the move as Genesee has strong JV programs and needs other JV programs to compete against.

10. Greenleaf Friends - Petition to move up from 1AD2 to 1AD1 was approved. Their move is mainly based on travel concerns.

11. Community School - Petition to move down from 1AD1 to 1AD2 was approved. The voting superintendents were 9-1 in favor of this move, which the conference has historically been in favor of.

Other board meeting notes:

12. 2016 'Legends of the Game' - The IHSAA has approved the recommendation of the committee to name the 1990 Kuna girls basketball team and the 1970-71 Oakley boys basketball team as this year's girls and boys 'Legends of the Game'. The ceremonies for this event will take place during halftime of the girls and boys basketball 5A state championship games at the Ford Idaho Center.

13. 5A State Golf - The IHSAA approved a recommendation to eliminate an extra, automatic berth for the host district of 5A state golf starting in 2016-17.

14. Milk Bowl Sites - The IHSAA has approved the rotation of this year's Milk Bowl sites. The only potential issues is that Albertson's Stadium is not going to be available on Friday, Nov. 20 as Boise State hosts Air Force that night. Venues like Dona Larson Park and other area high schools are available for potential use in the West Region.

15. Basketball Quarter Limitations - The IHSAA approved a modification of the quarter limitations rules for basketball. Appeals for extra quarters could previously only be done at the beginning of the year. The new modification allows schools to appeal during the regular season for unforeseen issues such as illness or injuries.
