"Where's The State Championship Gonna Be Played?"
Is your team still alive in the playoffs? Here's where they could be playing next week should they advance to the State Championship.

The question I get the most this time of year is "Where's the State Championship gonna be played?"

Well... it depends who your team plays.

The IHSAA has a rotation for the Milk Bowl (presented by the United Dairymen of Idaho, as always), which alternates sites for the state championship game in each classification based on team location and Milk Bowl location from previous years.

The geographical location of the teams involved plays a factor. The IHSAA separates the state into three regions: North (Districts 1/2), West (District 3), and East (Districts 4/5/6). These regions are then used to determine which major stadium will host a state championship contest.

The IHSAA released their 2014 Milk Bowl Rotations in late September (you can read that article by clicking HERE). I've taken the liberty to give you a team-by-team breakdown of how that process will play out. That way, for those of you looking to potentially book hotel rooms and make travel plans, you'll have a better idea of what to look for when the semi-final games begin this weekend.

The final dates/times/locations for all state championship contests will be announced on Saturday evening. Stay tuned to IdahoSports.com for the updated information.

If Mountain View wins and Highland wins: The 5A State Championship will be held at Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.

If Lake City wins and Highland wins: The 5A State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

If Mountain View wins and Rocky Mountain wins: The 5A State Championship will be held at Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.

If Lake City wins and Rocky Mountain wins: The 5A State Championship will be held at Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.*

If Bishop Kelly wins and Blackfoot wins: The 4A State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

If Rigby wins and Blackfoot wins: The 4A State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

If Bishop Kelly wins and Middleton wins: The 4A State Championship will be held at Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.

If Rigby wins and Middleton wins: The 4A State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

Because of the bracketing of the 3A classification and the semi-final teams involved, no matter the outcome of the games on Friday and Saturday, the 3A State Championship will be held at Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.**

If West Side wins and Aberdeen wins: The 2A State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

If Grangeville wins and Aberdeen wins: The 2A State Championship will be held at the University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

If West Side wins and Orofino wins: The 2A State Championship will be held at the University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

If Grangeville wins and Orofino wins: The 2A State Championship will be held at the University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

Because of the results of the state quarterfinals and the resulting state semi-final matchups, pitting conference foes against each other, no matter the outcome of the games on Thursday and Saturday, the 1AD1 State Championship will be held at the University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

If Wilder wins and Lighthouse Christian wins: The 1AD2 State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

If Carey wins and Lighthouse Christian wins: The 1AD2 State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

If Wilder wins and Council wins: The 1AD2 State Championship will be held at Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.**

If Carey wins and Council wins: The 1AD2 State Championship will be held at Idaho State University's Holt Arena in Pocatello.

*The IHSAA does not allow championship games to be held in the same location two years in a row unless the two teams are from the same geographical region. The original location for a potential North vs. West matchup was the University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome, which is where the 5A state championship was held last year. But, upon further review, the location was changed to Boise State University's Albertsons Stadium or Dona Larsen Park in Boise.

**The IHSAA State Football Tournament manual states that "Championship games for 3A, 2A, 1AD1, and 1AD2 held in District III may be moved to area high schools." This was the case most recently in 2012, when Shelley and Fruitland played the 3A State Championship at Eagle HS, along with Salmon River and Lighthouse Christian playing the 1AD2 State Championship at the same location.
