This year's edition of the Shootout is on tap today in the Treasure Valley... which means another edition of my chocolate-milk-fueled Tournament Selections.

The BEST time of the year is upon us. Don't get me wrong, I love football and the fall sports, but there is nothing like three straight days of pure basketball excellence... and the fact that we get a double-dose of the three day festivities makes it even better.

Lots of emotion will be left out on the hardwood this weekend. Lots of memories will be created. And, of course, lots of free, delicious chocolate milk will be available courtesy of the wonderful people at the United Dairymen of Idaho. If you find a guy passed out on the floor with a bevy of chocolate milk bottles lying next to him... it's probably me. But in all seriousness, a BIG thanks to them for everything that they do for high school athletes in Idaho: without the United Dairymen, this grand tournament and all the tournaments sponsored by the IHSAA would not be possible.

I have the privilege this season of covering the 2A Girls Tournament from Kuna HS. Along with my broadcast partner Tyler Belnap, we are very excited to be able to bring you the tournament online. If you can make it in person, be there! Come support these athletes in their quest to win some state hardware. If you can't make it however, join us with our online broadcasts.

Each day, I will be making my "Tournament Selections" for all six classifications, 5A through 1AD2. As I do each year, I'd to make two things clear: first, I don't have a 'hometown team' since I am not from Idaho originally. Second, don't take it personally if I pick against your team. It's all for fun! We do know what sportsmanship is, right?

Alright, enough of that schpiel. Let's get to the Tournament Selections:

5A Girls Tournament - Ford Idaho Center

Game 1: Coeur d'Alene over Hillcrest
Game 2: Mountain View over Capital
Game 3: Rocky Mountain over Highland
Game 4: Lewiston over Boise

4A Girls Tournament - Mountain View HS

Game 1: Twin Falls over Nampa
Game 2: Century over Middleton
Game 3: Pocatello over Sandpoint
Game 4: Skyview over Burley

3A Girls Tournament - Middleton HS

Game 1: Filer over Sugar-Salem
Game 2: Priest River over Fruitland
Game 3: Snake River over Timberlake
Game 4: Homedale over Teton

2A Girls Tournament - Kuna HS

Game 1: Valley over Cole Valley Christian
Game 2: Ririe over Soda Springs
Game 3: Firth over New Plymouth
Game 4: Grangeville over Melba

1AD1 Girls Tournament - Columbia HS

Game 1: Lapwai over Challis
Game 2: Genesee over Rimrock
Game 3: Hagerman over Prairie
Game 4: Grace over Notus

1AD2 Girls Tournament - Nampa HS

Game 1: Rockland over Kendrick
Game 2: Dietrich over Council
Game 3: Nezperce over Mackay
Game 4: Tri-Valley over Lighthouse Christian

Good luck to all the teams in the tournament! I certainly hope that this year's edition of the Real Dairy Shootout is the best one yet.
