About three weeks ago, it seemed as if football would never get started... we had waited all year long for its return. Now, it seems as if it's going too fast! Here we are getting ready for Week Three games (which really should be WeekFour, but we had to throw a Zero in there) and September is already half over.

Some schools open up the conference schedule this week, others have a bye week, while some have big-time rivalry games lined up.  Here’s a recap of last week’s games, followed by this week’s matchups.

Highland vs. Twin Falls: Even with Tommy Jewell sidelined because of a concussion, the Rams were still able to knock off the Bruins in the Dome. Dakota Tillotson stepped up under center and played well for Highland, who now moves to 3-0. Having a backup QB that can play just as well as your starting QB is a nice asset to have.
Next Games: Twin Falls has a big-time conference matchup with Minico on the road in Rupert. Highland welcomes the return of the Coeur d'Alene Vikings to Holt Arena, a game which has been widely anticipated around the state.

Challis vs. Grace: The Vikings can put some serious points up on the board. Through three games, Challis has averaged 48 points per game on offense, while giving up right around 31 points per game on defense. Grace has struggled this year, averaging just a shade under 21 points per game en route to a 1-2 record thus far.
Next Games: Grace is at home vs. Shoshone, while Challis hosts Butte County in what is expected to be an offensive showdown.

Coeur d'Alene vs. Skyline, WA: Even though the Vikings are off to a 1-2 start on the year, those two losses have come against outstanding opponents. The losses to Skyline, WA and Bothell, WA are nothing to frown upon: those schools are powerhouses in Washington and are nationally recognized. If anything, these losses are good for CDA, because now the Vikings know what they need to improve on, whereas if they blew out those teams, they wouldn't really feel like making adjustments was necessary.
Next Game: Coeur d'Alene squares off against Idaho competition for the first time this season as the Vikings make the long journey to Pocatello to play the Highland Rams in a big-time rematch of last years' State 5A Semi-Finals.

Idaho Falls vs. Pocatello:  One play. That's all it took for the Idaho Falls offense to put points on the board against Pocatello and begin a rout. The very first play from scrimmage ended up in a long passing TD from AJ Martin to Clayton Powell. This Idaho Falls no-huddle spread offense is lethal. The Tigers are off to a 3-0 start... already surpassing their previous win total from last season. Pocatello needs to find themselves on offense. How long can the two quarterback system work for the Indians?
Next Games: Idaho Falls opens up the conference schedule with a date at Madison. Pocatello is on the road again, this time with a game against Shelley.

Lake City vs. Hillcrest: The Louie-McGee brothers ran, and passed, all over Hillcrest in a 40-20 victory. Lake City looks to return to the state playoffs once again with another talented group, however the road this season is much tougher because the North receives only one tournament bid. Hillcrest is an extremely young team that is learning and adjusting to the new offensive system of Jeff Marshall.
Next Games: Lake City hits the road with a game against Eastside Catholic, WA, while Hillcrest gears up for the annual "Civil War" against rival Bonneville. Will the goal posts remain red?
