- In a battle of two top-ranked teams, Coeur d’Alene (7-0) survived a late Rigby (5-1) comeback to earn the 34-27 win in front of an estimated 3,000 fans on Thursday night in Coeur d’Alene. The Vikings built up a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter on the strength of Tannar Stern, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns (all to Gibson Comstock). After Rigby quarterback Evan Freeman (who threw for 118 yards) exited the contest with an injury, backup quarterback Gunnar Davis (197 yards passing) engineered three straight scoring drives that ended on rushing touchdowns (two from Chandler Faulkner, one from Kue Kofe). In between the second and third scoring drive for Rigby, Coeur d’Alene found more breathing room on a 70-yard touchdown run to maintain their two-score edge. But with less than a minute to play, Rigby was driving to potentially tie the game when Davis threw an interception to Coeur d’Alene’s Dawson Riley, ending the contest.
- Rocky Mountain (5-1 overall, 3-0 Southern Idaho Conference Foothills Division) remain the team to beat in District 3 after a 37-7 win over Kuna (2-4, 1-2) on Thursday night. Qhycyn Schellhous completed 12-of-16 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Senior running back Oakley Baxter, who returned from an injury last week, carried the ball 15 times for 94 yards and two additional scores. Owen Oelkers caught both touchdown passes for Rocky and six grabs for 133 yards.
- Mountain View (5-1 overall, 3-0 SIC Foothills) survived a shootout with Capital (3-3, 1-2), 42-35. Wide receiver Denton Wilson was named IdahoSports.com Player of the Game after catching seven passes for 125 yards and a touchdown for the Mavs.
- Highland (3-3) claimed its 16th straight win over 5A Pocatello (1-5) in the annual Black and Blue Bowl with a 17-8 win. Kellan Tingey returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown for the Rams. That 7-0 lead held until the four quarter when the Rams added a 36-yard field goal from Bridger Hanks and a four-yard touchdown run from Cedric Mitchell.
5A CLASSIFICATION
- Bishop Kelly (6-0 overall, 3-0 Southern Idaho Conference) trailed Columbia (4-2, 2-1) 17-14 with just 3:25 left to play. But the Knights capped off a lengthy drive with a three-yard touchdown run from Eli Lynes with just 35 seconds remaining. Lynes’ score propelled Bishop Kelly to the come-from-behind 21-17 win. The Knights have now won 31 consecutive games.
- In a game featuring plenty of defense, Hillcrest (6-0, 4-0 High Country Conference) topped Bonneville (3-3, 2-2) in the annual Civil War rivalry matchup. It was the 12th win for the Knights over the Bees in the last 13 years. Elam Miner contributed 124 rushing yards while Maddox Ellingford found the end zone twice for Hillcrest in the victory. For the Bees, the defeat snapped a three-game winning streak entering the night.
- Sandpoint (5-2) piled up the points in a 49-14 win over 4A Moscow (1-5). After missing two games with injury, running back Jensen Sheetz returned to the Sandpoint lineup. He rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown and had 32 yards receiving. Quarterback Logan Iverson threw for 199 yards and four touchdowns. Brock Yarbrough (eight catches, 96 yards, 2 TDs) and Knox Williams (four catches, 57 yards, two TDs) led the Bulldog receivers.
- Idaho Falls (3-3 overall, 2-2 High Country Conference) topped Skyline (3-3, 3-1) by a final of 28-21 in a memorable Emotion Bowl inside Ravsten Stadium on Saturday. A game-sealing interception by the Tigers secured the win, which was their first in the series since 2021. It was also the fourth interception for Idaho Falls, which was led by Gabe Leavitt with two. Will Thompson racked up three touchdowns, picking up a pair on the ground and adding another through the air. The rivalry battle had been circled for Idaho Falls and new head coach Dustin Medellin since his hiring, with #BeatSkyline hashtags prominent on the program’s social media channels. Mission accomplished.
4A CLASSIFICATION
- Missing seven regular starters from its lineup, Homedale (6-0 overall, 2-0 Snake River Valley Conference) found a way to rally past Fruitland (4-2, 1-1). The Grizzlies led 30-27 with 5:41 to play as quarterback Titus Vidlak caught a 67-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Joel Philpott on a trick play. But Homedale moved the ball down the field and went ahead 34-30 on a touchdown pass from Kreece Powell to Alec Campos with just 1:27 remaining. The Trojans’ defense held from there and sealed the win with back-to-back sacks from Boston Garrett and Tuff Neider on third and fourth down, respectively.
- Weiser (4-2 overall, 1-1 Snake River Valley Conference) delivered an emphatic statement to the rest of the league with a dominant 37-6 handling of previously unbeaten Cole Valley Christian (5-1, 1-1). Braydon Van Boven went 18-of-31 for 210 yards in the loss for the Chargers. The Wolverines now head to Fruitland this Friday for a huge battle with the Grizzlies.
- Gooding (3-2) sprinted past 3A Buhl (4-2) in a 41-34 shootout. Senators quarterback Cougar Stockham rushed for three touchdowns in the win (covering 74, 74 and 30 yards, respectively). Ezra Gillette added an 85-yard touchdown run and Stockham also threw a 54-yard touchdown strike to Bridger Pope. Buhl’s Raidyn Puglsey scored a trio of rushing touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass.
- Preston (1-4) picked a great time to earn its first win of the season, outslugging a talented South Fremont (5-2) team in a non-conference affair. Kam Atkinson rushed for a pair of touchdowns for Preston. Indians quarterback Carter Perry ran for a score and threw touchdown passes to Braxton Lewis and Kylton Atkinson.
3A CLASSIFICATION
- West Side (6-0 overall, 1-0 South East Idaho Conference) rolled past Soda Springs (2-4, 0-2) by a score of 57-20. The Pirates rushed for 444 yards as a team and three individuals topped the century mark: Mason Williams (171 yards, three touchdowns), Drake Sage (161 yards, four touchdowns) and Coen Campbell (105 yards, one touchdown).
- Melba (4-1 overall, 1-1 Western Idaho Conference) led 14-6 at halftime, but New Plymouth (2-4, 1-1) outscored the Mustangs 12-0 the rest of the way to hand Melba its first loss of the season.
- West Jefferson (6-1 overall, 2-0 Nuclear Conference) passed another major test with a 41-14 win over Salmon (5-2, 1-1). All signs point towards the Nuke title running through Terreton this year.
- Priest River (4-1 overall, 2-0 Central Idaho League) shined in all phases in a 72-0 win over Orofino (0-6, 0-2). Jacob Best completed 6-of-7 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns while three different Spartan backs each rushed for two touchdowns (Haiden Leach, Colton Kuprienko and Nate Fegert). Madden Redinger and Layton Goins each caught touchdown passes.
- North Fremont (3-3 overall, 1-0 Nuclear Conference) slipped past Firth (0-6, 0-2) in another defensive classic battle between the rivals, 14-12. The Huskies now prepare for consecutive home games against defending Nuke champ Ririe and current first-place leader West Jefferson.
2A CLASSIFICATION
- Hagerman (5-1 overall, 3-0 Snake River Conference) found a variety of ways to score in its 62-8 win over Murtaugh (0-6, 0-4). Will Mavencamp accounted for 115 yards passing with three touchdowns and 64 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Jace Leavitt caught all three TD passes and took a punt back 46 yards for a score.
- Raft River (6-0 overall, 4-0 Snake River Conference) kept its unbeaten streak going with a 50-8 win over Shoshone (3-2, 1-2). James Dalton turned four carries into 103 yards and three touchdowns. The senior also caught a touchdown pass. Defensively, Gilbert Lloyd notched three sacks for the Trojans.
- Sophomore Cooper Riener scored five touchdowns (four receiving, one punt return) as Prairie (6-1 overall, 2-0 Whitepine League) blew past Lapwai (2-5, 0-2), 58-22. Riener finished with 213 receiving yards and his punt return score covered 46 yards. Kade Quintal completed 9-of-12 passes for 309 yards and five scores.
- Wallace remained unbeaten at 6-0 thanks to a 38-18 win over 1A Deary (2-4). Cooper Miller ran for a pair of touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass to Reece Williams. Williams returned a fumble 60 yards for a score in the win.
- Notus (4-2 overall, 2-1 Western Idaho Conference) snagged a 36-28 win over Tri-Valley (2-3, 1-2) when Maverick McKerrow found Sawyer Hansen on a touchdown pass with just two seconds to play. McKerrow completed 13-of-18 passes for 189 yards and that one touchdown while Mark Lungu led the ground game with 152 yards and two scores.
1A CLASSIFICATION
- Carey (6-0 overall, 4-0 Sawtooth Conference) turned in another workmanlike performance in a 44-6 win over Hansen (2-3, 1-2). Jonah Saili threw for 126 yards and a touchdown and ran for 44 yards and a score. Madden Perkes led the ground game with six carries for 75 yards and three touchdowns.
- Grant Clemens passed for seven touchdowns in Coeur du Christ’s (6-0) 56-20 non-conference win over 2A Potlatch (3-3). Clemens added an eighth score on the ground. Beckett Beyer caught four of the Saints’ touchdown passes, Matthew Junkin hauled in two scores and Broghan Beyer caught one touchdown.
- Rockland (6-0) traveled to Ogden, Utah, and turned back the St. Joseph Jayhawks (2-5), 67-13. Xavier Parrish completed 15-of-20 passes for 268 yards and four scores in the win and added three carries for 68 yards and a touchdown. Zach Permann caught six passes for 149 yards and two scores, ran for 15 yards and a touchdown, returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score and notched an interception on defense.
