- Rigby (4-0) built up a 21-10 halftime lead over Box Elder (Utah) and then held on as the Bees made a valiant comeback try. Ultimately, though, the Trojans turned away the 5-1 Bees 34-32, handing Box Elder its first loss of the season.
- In a battle of undefeated teams, Coeur d’Alene (5-0) started fast and maintained its edge in a 44-14 win over 5A Sandpoint (4-1). Tannar Stern threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. He also ran for 176 yards and two scores.
- Rocky Mountain (3-1 overall, 1-0 Southern Idaho Conference Foothills Division) surged past Timberline (1-3, 0-1) in a Thursday night showdown at Dona Larsen Park, 49-7. Rocky’s Qhycyn Schellhous was 9-of-14 passing for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Laird Stuart scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and Parker Kleinkopf led the Grizzlies in rushing with 92 yards and a score. Owen Oelkers caught both touchdown passes and finished with 120 yards on four receptions.
- Owyhee (2-2) held off Madison in overtime, 10-7, handing the Bobcats (4-1) their first loss of the season. Cruz Campbell scored a rushing touchdown for Owyhee in the second quarter, and that 7-0 lead held until Madison tied the contest with just 29 seconds to play on a one-yard plunge by Hawke Cordero. In overtime, Owyhee’s Skye Kaufusi knocked through a field goal for a 10-7 lead. On Madison’s possession, the Bobcats attempted a field goal to send the game to a second overtime period, but the kick missed, ending the contest.
- Mountain View (3-1 overall, 1-0 SIC Foothills) survived against Kuna (1-3, 0-1) in a tense 20-19 win. The Mavs scored the winning touchdown late in the third quarter and their defense held firm throughout the remainder of the contest. Lino Senio threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns (both to Peyton Martin) in the loss. Kuna has now lost three games this year by one point, six points and now one point again.
- Capital (3-1 overall, 1-0 Southern Idaho Conference River Division) outlasted Meridian (3-1, 0-1) in a back-and-forth affair, 41-35. Capital built up a 20-point lead with just over two minutes to play, but Meridian refused to go quietly. The Warriors scored on a touchdown run from Hunter Bones, recovered an onside kick and scored again on a touchdown pass from Easton Nungaray to Jaxson Ocamica. A second onside kick try with just 19 seconds to play was recovered by Capital, and the Eagles were able to preserve their six-point lead from there. Quincey Clay completed 14-of-21 passes for 158 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a fifth score in the win. Silas Crane added 213 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
- For the first time in five tries, Thunder Ridge (3-1) coach Michael Berger bested his father, Skyline coach Scott Berger, in the annual Berger Bowl contest. The Titans defeated 5A Skyline (3-1) by a score of 30-6. Ryder Portmann completed 8-of-17 passes for 112 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Titan Nebeker caught four passes for 82 yards and two scores as well.
5A Classification
- Bishop Kelly (4-0 overall, 2-0 Southern Idaho Conference) blanked Vallivue (1-3, 0-2) 43-0, settings the Falcons back to minus-25 yards rushing in the win. UC-Davis commit Jaxson Brady completed 16-of-17 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns in the win.
- Hillcrest continued its undefeated start by picking up a win over Century in High Country Conference play. The Knights (4-0, 3-0 HCC) turned back the Diamondbacks (1-3, 0-3) by a final of 46-26. Logan Taylor completed 15-of-22 passes for 225 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Jake Stephens rushed for 77 yards and two scores on just eight carries. Wide receivers Ethan Saunders (four catches, 77 yards, one touchdown) and Gavin Lamph (four catches, 67 yards, one touchdown) also turned in solid efforts.
- Columbia (3-1 overall, 1-0 Southern Idaho Conference) won its SIC opener over Nampa (2-2, 1-1), 49-6. Easton Zickgraf was 11-of-16 passing for 163 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Easton Lott caught a pair of touchdown passes and Tyson Winkelman hauled in one of his own. Gavin Woolstenhulme and Santiago Carbajal each scored on the ground as well.
- Bonneville (2-2 overall, 1-1 HCC) is no longer a plucky upstart. By virtue of its 21-13 win over preseason favorite Blackfoot (2-2, 2-1), the Bees are now full-fledged contenders. Jaxton Briggs threw for 185 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 69 yards and two additional scores for Bonneville.
- In a back-and-forth affair, Centennial (1-3 overall, 1-1 Southern Idaho Conference) picked up its first win since 2023 in a 28-27 triumph over Skyview (2-2, 1-1). The victory snapped a 26-game losing streak for the Patriots. This contest came down to the final moments, as Centennial went ahead with 7:17 to play on a five-yard touchdown pass from Madden Henderson to Charles Johnson. The extra-point try by Brooks McCarney was good, and the Patriots led 28-21. Skyview answered with 4:38 remaining as Blaedon Brock found the end zone on a three-yard run. The Hawks opted to go for two, and Centennial snuffed out their two-point pass to turn Skyview away and earn the one-point win.
4A Classification
- After taking its first loss of the season last week, Fruitland (3-1) bounced back with a 41-13 road win at Bonners Ferry (3-2). With three passing touchdowns and three rushing scores, Fruitland’s Titus Vidlak is now believed to be Idaho’s all-time 11-man touchdown leader with 109. The previous record-holder is thought to be former Declo standout Keegan Duncan, who found the end zone 103 times in his storied career.
- In a defensive grinder, Sugar-Salem (4-1) made just enough plays to slip past Kimberly (1-4) by a 14-7 margin. Frank Fillmore completed 7-of-9 passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Both scores went to Boston Nead, who caught two passes for 28 yards and two touchdowns.
- Emmett remained among the unbeaten with a 29-20 win over Gooding (2-2). The Huskies, now 4-0, saw Eli Brennan complete a couple of passes for 36 yards and a score. He also ran for 142 yards on just 10 rushes. Kash Walton found the end zone twice on the ground for Emmett, and Griffin Hargitt (rushing) and Zach States (receiving) each scored as well.
- A defensive battle between South Fremont and Snake River was defined by the final moments of each half. South Fremont (4-1) scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Cy Hill to Tayson Farley with under a minute remaining in the second quarter. That 6-0 lead stood until late in the fourth quarter when Snake River (0-5) threw a pass that was intercepted by Farley and returned 39 yards for a touchdown, setting the final score at 12-0.
- Make it two-for-two for Wood River against its former competition in the 5A Great Basin Conference. The 4A Wolverines (4-0) slipped past 5A Mountain Home (1-3) 21-20 one week after taking down 5A Jerome. A missed extra point was the difference in this battle, as both sides competed incredibly well. Wood River’s Sawyer Morgan threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers (Axel Oelerich, Carlos Martinez and Wyatt Stone).
3A Classification
- Melba (4-0 overall, 1-0 Western Idaho Conference) continues to sizzle. Their latest offensive explosion came in a 75-0 romp of Marsing (2-2, 0-1). Ty Aggen (129 yards, four touchdowns) and Rhett Franklin (100 yards, two touchdowns) each ran for 100-plus yards. Quarterback Noah Wiersma threw for 163 yards with three touchdowns to three different receivers (Franklin, Owen Hansen and Elias Shoemaker).
- Declo is now just one of a handful of teams to achieve 5-0 status this year. Their latest triumph came over Marsh Valley (0-5), 35-7. Traecyn Thaxton threw for 103 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while sophomore Jett Snedaker scored a rushing and receiving touchdown.
- In a game that could have significant playoff seeding implications down the line, defending 3A champ Nampa Christian (2-2) held off 3A newcomer Buhl (3-1) 16-14, handing the Indians their first loss of the season in the process. Is Nampa Christian better than their record indicated? Are Buhl’s long playoff run hopes still intact? We may not know the answer until November.
- Defending Central Idaho League champion Priest River (2-1 overall, 1-0 CIL) showed that it’s still the team to beat up north. The Spartans handed CIL newcomer Logos (4-1, 2-1) its first loss of the season, 26-7. Priest River used its ground game, as two runners finished with 100-plus yards on the ground. Colton Kuprienko carried the ball 32 times for 140 yards and a touchdown while Nate Fegert racked up 100 yards and three scores on just seven totes.
- West Jefferson (4-1) built up a 26-14 lead at halftime, then held off a furious rally from 4A Teton (0-4) to earn a 42-41 win. Canon Calder ran for 183 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries for the Panthers. Bruer Burtenshaw added 119 yards and two scores on 16 totes. Teton, meanwhile, leaned on junior quarterback Dax Woolley. Woolley passed for 344 yards and five touchdowns.
- Soda Springs (2-2) took another step forward under new head coach James Poole with a 28-7 win over North Fremont (2-3) on Friday night. The last time the Cardinals had two (or more) wins in a season was 2022, so starting this season 2-2 is a major accomplishment. Makiah Browning threw for 187 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for Soda Springs.
2A Classification
- In a matchup of top-five teams, Hagerman (3-1) blew past Butte County (3-2) by a score of 50-18. Will Mavencamp threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns and added 114 yards and three scores rushing. He also forced a safety defensively. Zander Cenarussa ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns for Hagerman.
- Raft River (4-0 overall, 2-0 Snake River Conference) remains among Idaho’s unbeaten after a 58-14 win over Murtaugh (0-4, 0-2). Bo Udy threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns for the Trojans. He also ran for 56 yards and a score. Treyce Ward churned out 160 rushing yards and four touchdowns as well.
- And just like that, Glenns Ferry has turned its season around. An 0-3 start is less than ideal, but there’s no better time to get your first win of the year than the first conference game. And with the Pilots’ (1-3 overall, 1-0 SRC) 30-14 win over Shoshone (3-1, 1-1), they’re undefeated where it counts. Brayden Spriggs caught eight passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns while also contributing 11 tackles and an interception on defense.
- Another week, another offensive onslaught from the Wallace Miners (4-0). The Miners’ latest victim was Lake Roosevelt (Washington) by way of a 70-28 score. Cooper Miller completed 17-of-23 passes for 362 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. He added 127 yards rushing with two touchdowns. Lennox Radford (six catches, 140 yards, four touchdowns) and Hank Larson (eight catches, 209 yards, one touchdown) also turned in big totals. In addition to Radford’s four receiving scores, the junior also returned an interception for a touchdown and had an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
1A Classification
- Another week, another win over a 2A opponent for 1A Kendrick (5-0). This time, the Tigers sprinted past Prairie (4-1), 56-14. Maddox Kirkland completed 11-of-18 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns. Orion Stewart ran for 151 yards and a score. And for the second consecutive game, sophomore Miles Fortine came away with two interceptions on defense. Fortine also ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass.
- Carey improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Sawtooth Conference play with a 32-6 win over Castleford (3-1, 1-1). The Panthers rushed for 427 yards as a team in the win and saw large performances from Madden Perkes (23 carries, 201 yards, one touchdown), Hadley Hunt (7 carries, 110 yards, two touchdowns) and quarterback Jonah Saili (eight carries, 110 yards, one touchdown).
- Salmon River is now 5-0 after a 56-0 shutout of 2A Clearwater Valley (1-3). Blake Shepherd was 14-of-15 passing for 326 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 84 yards and two scores on just five carries. Hayes Pratt hauled in five passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Noah Cereghino, Gage Crump and Kingston Pyle also caught touchdown passes for the Savages.
- Rockland (4-0) piled up the points in its 62-30 win over 2A Garden Valley (2-2). Xavier Parrish completed 21-of-31 passes for 262 yards and five touchdowns. Zach Permann carried the ball 16 times for 88 yards and two scores and caught six passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. Permann also registered six tackles and two fumble recoveries. Ty Woodworth notched 11 tackles and a pick-six. Donny Garner (five catches, 58 yards, three touchdowns) and Cooper Black (six catches, 91 yards, one touchdown) also had solid stat lines.
- Council (2-2) earned a narrow 22-20 win over 2A Kamiah (2-2) thanks to a pair of successful two-point conversions. Kamiah, conversely, converted just one. Jim Tucker passed for 114 yards and a touchdown to Wyatt Hatfield for Council. He also returned a kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown. JR Conaway added 115 yards rushing with a score. For Kamiah, Todd Roberts threw a pair of touchdown passes to Lawson Landmark and Landon Keen rushed for a score.
