MaxPreps Magic

Plenty of water-cooler conversation in the 8-man world revolves around the MaxPreps weekly rankings, which determine playoff seeds at the end of the regular season.  In the 2A ranks, Kendrick occupies the top spot, followed by Whitepine rivals Kamiah and Logos.  In 1A, Tri-Valley is ranked No. 1, followed closely by rival Council and Genesee.  Beyond that, based on the secret mathematical formula, Kendrick is the 9th-ranked 8-man football team in the country.  Another team that has played a pair of Idaho opponents, Adrian (Oregon) is ranked fourth in the nation.  The Antelopes have defeated both Grace and Tri-Valley.

Busy Bye Week

The Raft River trojans came into their bye week 4-1 overall, including 3-0 in Snake River Conference play.  But rather than sitting back, head coach Chad Evans and his staff kept the program busy.  First, the Trojans' JV team faced Lighthouse Christian on Wednesday night.  Then, on Thursday, a group of players bused up to Wendell to scrimmage the 3A squad.  Wendell ended its varsity season earlier this fall and is only playing JV games.  The schedule changes left Wendell without a homecoming game.  In stepped Raft River, who agreed to participate in a supervised 8-man scrimmage to give Wendell its homecoming experience.

Rimrock Ends Season

A little over a week ago, the Rimrock Raiders defeated Centennial Baptist for a big homecoming victory in Owyhee County.  Then, just a few short days later, the school had to make the difficult decision to end the team's season prematurely due to a lack of players.  It's a heartbreaking end to the season for head coach Sam Ward and the Raiders, who, just last fall, won the 2A Western Idaho Conference and were in position to compete for a second straight conference crown.  The abrupt cancellation gave Wilder a forfeit win on Friday and forced Notus to scramble to fill its homecoming date this week with 1A power Council.
