1. Slater Kuther (Lewis County)

The sophomore intercepted four passes for the Eagles in a win over Lakeside, returning two for scores (he returned a third for a score as well, but a penalty negated the TD).  He added two TD rushes and a TD pass as well as Lewis County improved its record to 2-1.

2. Jace Oliver (Richfield)

Another sophomore who made a lot of noise on defense, Oliver had a hand in 12 tackles and intercepted a pass in the Tigers' win over Challis.  He also rushed for a team-high 69 yards and a touchdown on offense as Richfield moved to 2-0 on the season.

3. Jay Marshall (Potlatch)

The Loggers' senior quarterback tore up the turf in the team's netural-site win over Oakley on Friday, running for 306 yards and three touchdowns on the ground while passing for another 140 yards through the air for 446 total yards.  He also completed three, two-point conversion passes.  Potlatch is now 1-0.

The Kick Is Up...

There was a rare sight in Kendrick's win over Hagerman on Friday - a point-after-touchdown kick.  Ralli Roetcisoender booted the PAT through the uprights following the team's fifth touchdown of the 59-0 win, leading to the rare odd-number final score.  In the 8-man game, scores usually accumulate by even numbers: six points for a touchdown and two points for a conversion (and, on occasion, two points for a defensive safety).  But head coach Ty Koepp gave his team a chance to kick the one-pointer, telling the Lewiston Tribune following the game that it's the program's first PAT kick "in probably 30 or 40 years, if they've even done it in the past."

So Close

Heartbreak for the home fans in Council on Friday night as the Lumberjacks' last-second desperation pass from Owen Hatfield was completed to Garrison Zielinski, but the play came up one yard short of the end zone in an 18-14 loss to Kamiah.  It marks the second consecutive home game where the contest ended with Council just a few feet from the winning touchdown - the 'Jacks were stopped inside the five-yard line at the final horn in the 1A playoffs last November in a 22-20 loss to Garden Valley.

Fast Starts

Credit to the Times-News in Twin Falls for this one - the 1A Sawtooth Conference features a 2-0 Hansen Huskies team and a 2-0 Richfield Tigers team.  It's Hansen's first 2-0 start since 2010 and Richfield's first 2-0 start since 2013.  Naturally, the two teams put their perfect starts on the line against...each other.  Hansen plays at Richfield on Friday night.
