1. Ronaldo Gomez (Rimrock)
The Raiders snapped Notus' 15-game conference winning streak on Friday in large part because Gomez, the team's uber-talented and uber-versatile senior, accumulated more than 600 yards of total offense (420 rushing, 193 passing) and nine total touchdowns (five rushing, four passing) to go along with 14 tackles and a sack. Rimrock is 3-2 overall, 1-0 in Western Idaho Conference play.
2. TJ Beyer (Deary)
Another all-around strong game for the Mustang senior as he rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns in the team's win over Coeur du Christ Academy on Friday. He also had seven tackles and an interception as Deary has shaken off a sluggish start to win back-to-back games, improving to 2-3 overall (1-0 Whitepine League), with three tough games looming on the schedule to close out the season.
3. Ben Johnson (Potlatch)
Johnson, one of just two seniors listed on the Loggers' initial roster, found the end zone six times in the team's win over Whitepine rival Troy on Friday. He caught a touchdown pass, ran in three separated TD rushes, and collected to Trojan kickoffs that resulted in touchdown returns. The win improved Potlatch to 5-0 overall, 3-0 in league play, with a clash with top-ranked Kendrick coming up.

Battle for the Standlee Trophy
First place is on the line on Friday when the Glenns Ferry Pilots (3-1 overall, 1-0 Snake River Conference) travel to Hazelton to play the Valley Vikings (4-1 overall, 3-0 Snake River Conference). The rivalry trophy is named in honor of Lynn and Kathy Standlee, who died in a car accident outside of Glenns Ferry in 1992. The family has strong ties to both communities, so the winning team (when the two teams play) has been awarded the Standlee Trophy, starting that fall, ever since. The trophy currently belongs to Valley, who topped Glenns Ferry in an entertaining affair, 56-42, last September.
Back-to-Back Byes
An unusual schedule quirk left the no. 2 (in both the coaches and media polls) Butte County Pirates with two consecutive bye weeks - the team has not played since September 3 but returns to the field this coming Friday with a road game at Challis. Sam Thorngren and the Butte County coaches didn't necessarily want two weeks off but made the best of the break with a lot of film study and practice time. Following Friday's matchup with the Vikings, the Pirates face a three-week gauntlet to end the regular season: hosting Raft River, then traveling to Hagerman, before hosting the lone High Desert Conference game against Grace on October 25.
Chaos Ball
Okay, walk with us on this one - Friday night, Wilder defeated Idaho City. Last week, Notus defeated Wilder. And Rimrock has beaten Notus. Idaho City hosts Rimrock on October 11. You would complete the cycle if Jason Roeber's young squad can knock off the Raiders - Idaho City over Rimrock over Notus over Wilder over Idaho City in the 2A Western Idaho Conference. Oh, have we mentioned that Centennial Baptist plans to play its conference schedule after canceling each non-conference contest, making it an even number of WIC games? That puts five teams in the WIC, meaning four conference games. You're staring at the potential for a four-way tie atop the 2A Western Idaho Conference. Some pieces have to fall into place, obviously, but have fun sorting out possible tiebreakers on that one.
