1. Cooper Miller (Wallace)
The Miners' freshman quarterback continues to impress, accumulating 444 total yards (279 passing, 165 rushing) and six total touchdowns (five passing, one rushing) as Wallace improved to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in North Star, by defeating Clark Fork. Miller has already tossed 12 scoring passes on the season and rushed for nearly 400 yards.
2. Blake Shepherd (Salmon River)
One week after watching Genesee celebrate the end of a long losing streak, sophomore QB/DB Blake Shepherd keyed the end of a 10-game losing streak for the Savages. He had a hand in four touchdowns offensively (two rushing and two passing) and intercepted three passes on defense as Salmon River defeated Timberline, 60-26.
3. Stuart Derrick (Cascade)
The senior standout impacted every facet of the game in the Ramblers' season-opening win over Wilder on Friday. He threw for 75 yards and one score, ran for 261 yards and three scores, returned a kickoff for yet another touchdown, and spearheaded the Cascade defensive effort with more than 15 tackles.

Terrific Tigers
One question that was asked over the offseason was how the transition from the smaller 1A classification to the larger 2A classification would affect the Kendrick Tigers. Early signs indicate it hasn't. After dominating Troy last week, head coach Zane Hobart's team dominated Oakley on Saturday, improving Kendrick's record to 2-0 with a combined score of 160-16. Sophomore quarterback Maddox Kirkland had a hand in six touchdowns against Oakley after taking over for two-time Idaho Player of the Year Ty Koepp, and Sawyer Hewett continues to show why big universities like Idaho and Montana of the Big Sky Conference know exactly who he is. Those are just two players from a loaded, loaded Kendrick roster.
Cardiac Dawgs
One week after snapping a 17-game losing streak, the 1A Genesee Bulldogs were at it again on Friday night. Facing nearby rival Troy in a back-and-forth tussle, the Bulldogs were driving toward the winning score late in the fourth quarter when the Trojans forced a turnover. However, sophomore defensive lineman Isaac McGlothen took the ball right back for Genesee, intercepting a screen pass, which set up fellow sophomore Jackson Banks to run in the go-ahead score with just over a minute to go. Troy's desperation pass to the end zone on the game's final play fell incomplete, giving Genesee its second straight win, 46-40, and head coach Justin Podrabsky a few gray hairs.
Another Streak Ends
Since we've mentioned the end of lengthy losing streaks for both Genesee and Salmon River, we need to tip our cap to Shoshone from District 4. Friday's 28-14 win over North Gem broke a 16-game losing streak that dated back to 2021. Senior Kevin Juarez had nine tackles and Shoshone's new head coach, Mike Nunnelee, praised his team for collecting seven tackles for loss against the Cowboys, who are one of the state's top rushing teams. On offense, Hadley Haden and Bud Cortez combined to rush for more than 200 yards for the Indians.
