As we enter the stretch drive of the district tournament season in girls basketball, IdahoSports.com is proud to bring you live webcast coverage of several district tournament games.  You can view the entire broadcast schedule here.

The coverage started last night, with Sugar-Salem's narrow 48-46 win over Teton for the 3A District 6 championship.  The Timberwolves started hot, led by sophomore Abi Barkdull (who scored 20 points.)  Teton led by fifteen points in the first quarter, but the Diggers never panicked.  Slowly but surely, Sugar-Salem began to chip away at the deficit.

Tied at 46-46, Sugar-Salem's Kennedy Gillette was fouled on a drive to the basket from the left wing with just nine seconds to play.  Gillette calmly sank both free throws to give the Diggers the 48-46 lead, one of the few times on the night that Sugar-Salem actually led.

Teton had a good look at a game-tying shot by Barkdull.  After the ball went out of bounds with eight-tenths of a second remaining, Teton inbounded on their baseline to Barkdull.  Her 15-foot jump shot hit the front of the rim as time expired, giving the district championship to Sugar-Salem.

Gillette scored 29 points for the Diggers, and was named IdahoSports.com Player of the Game.  She entered the game seven points shy of 1,000 for her career, and after a free throw midway through the second quarter, Sugar-Salem coach Crystal Dayley called timeout to recognize Gillette's accomplishment.

Meanwhile, at the 1AD1 District 5-6 Tournament at Thunder Ridge High, the Grace Grizzlies won the championship over Butte County 54-33, their fourth win over the Pirates this season.  IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Tenleigh Walker finished with 14 points and seven steals for Grace.  Despite winning their district, Grace has not officially clinched a spot at state.  The Grizzlies have to take the extra step of defeating the third place team from District 3 in a State Tournament Play-In Game on Saturday at Canyon Ridge High.  Grace will be heavily favored in that contest.

Elsewhere, the biggest upset of the night occurred in Kimberly, where third-seeded Buhl knocked out the second-seeded Bulldogs 48-45.  Meghan Montgomery scored 19 points for the Indians, while Aspen Eckert was right behind with 18.  Kimberly's inside tandem of Mekell Wright (18 points and 14 rebounds) and Kelsy Stanger (12 points and nine rebounds) played well, but it wasn't enough.

With the win, Buhl advances to Wednesday's district championship against Filer.  Both teams will qualify for state regardless of the result.  Kimberly has been replaced by Buhl in our latest projections.

Here is our latest Bracketology.  As a reminder, you can follow all of the district tournament action here.  Teams will be seeded according to their MaxPreps rating.  Teams in bold font have officially clinched state tournament bids.
