The first day of the 2016 Girls 'Real Dairy Shootout' has come and gone... and it was a BLAST!
Hopefully, you've been able to enjoy some of the action going on right now in the Treasure Valley - whether in person at the stadiums or online by watching the video streams on IdahoSports.com.
The first day of the tournament was about what you would expect: some upsets, some close games, and some blowouts. It certainly was a good day overall. And, we get to do it all again on Friday!
Will Nordquist (my broadcast partner) and I are having a great time at Nampa HS for the 1A Division-II state tournament. Great fans, a great atmosphere, and GREAT games so far. I certainly hope that trend of close games continues into Friday.
Another trend I hope continues is that of my 'Shootout Selections' - especially if it's at the rate that I picked yesterday. My total was 22 out of 24 games picked correctly. The only two games I missed on? Eagle's one-point overtime win over Hillcrest and Council's three-point loss to Richfield.
But I'm not going to stew on that. Those games are over and done... it's on to the next challenge of trying to figure out who will win the semifinal matchups.
