Didn't we JUST start the school year? It seems like we did at least... and now we are fully into the winter sports season!
With football ending officially on Monday and with volleyball, soccer, and cross country already in the books, it's time to move on to wrestling and basketball.
Girls basketball began a couple of weekends ago and scores from games all around the state immediately began to pour in. It's really cool to see how quickly the transition from fall to winter to spring sports happens each year.
Wrestling gets underway shortly and the first boys basketball games can officially begin on Nov. 29.
Of course, with a new sports season means new team previews. We are continuing to add to our girls and boys basketball team previews each day and anticipate the publishing of our class-by-class wrestling preview soon. Click HERE to see the previews that are up so far!
Also, with the new season of basketball upon us, that means more schedules and scores are to be loaded on the IdahoSports.com website. We want to bring you the most accurate information possible regarding conference standings, upcoming schedules, past scores, and more on the website. One of my duties here at IdahoSports.com is to update that information for all teams across the state each night. Seems daunting, doesn't it?
It's actually awesome and fun to do! And you can be a part of the process too. As you attend your school's games, you can submit the final score on our website! All you have to do is go to your school's Team Page and click on the sport you are reporting. Then, click on the 'Report Score' link for that particular game and post the score. That's it! It's very simple and easy to do.
Sometimes, scores from certain games are not reported. Of course, that can skew the rankings, conference standings, and more for a particular team. If you know the score of the game, enter it in! You can become the official score reporter for your team.
If there are any games that have been moved due to weather conditions or other circumstances, or if there are incorrect scores on the website, all you have to do is kindly send an email to me at matt@idahosports.com and I'll get it corrected for you on the website.
All of the girls basketball schedules from around the state have been loaded online and the boys basketball schedules should all be up by the end of the week. All of the wrestling schedules that we have received are up online, but if you see that a school is missing a schedule, just email me (matt@idahosports.com) with the schedule and I'll get it posted online!
IdahoSports.com will have GameStreams broadcasts of several regular season wrestling tournaments along with boys and girls basketball games from around the state. Of course, we will also have exclusive online broadcasts of the 2015 State Wrestling and 2015 State Basketball Tournaments (all 132 games!). Don't forget the coverage of the 2015 State Dance and Cheer competitions as well. (Sidenote: I'd like to give a shout-out to the dancers and cheerleaders who go to many, if not all, sporting events in support of their school. Their dedication is awesome to see! They certainly deserve recognition for the amount of time and effort they put into their craft).
We are excited to bring you this coverage of Idaho high school winter sports. Much thanks again to our many wonderful sponsors that help make IdahoSports.com possible to exist. And a big thank you to the United Dairymen of Idaho for all that they do for high school athletes within the state.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
