This is it.
Well, at least it is for the seniors of the remaining basketball squads in the 2014 Girls Real Dairy Shootout.
Super Saturday brings a lot of things to mind. The culmination of a season, the achieving of goals, the joy of going out with a win, and the closing of a chapter.
For these seniors, Saturday signifies the end of their high school basketball careers. A few will move on to the college ranks to continue those careers, but for most, this is the last game. It's over after today.
The emotion will come out, win or lose, and so will the hardware. Trophies will abound throughout the Treasure Valley tomorrow... but the memories made playing high school basketball will go on forever.
Let's hope you all have a REALLY short memory about my picks over the previous two days. I can only wonder if I've provided any sort of bulletin board material for teams by picking against them (I certainly hope not, but who knows?). On Day 1, I went 17/24 overall, which at 70.9% wasn't a bad start. On Day 2, I incredibly went a solid 17/24 again. So what does that mean for Super Saturday? Well, I can't go 17/24 since there are only 18 games.
But as the great Brian Fantana once said (with small liberties taken in this quote): "70.9% of the time, it works every time."
I know what you're thinking. You just said "That doesn't make sense". No worries, it didn't make sense to Ron Burgundy either.
If I can snag 13/18 on Super Saturday, we'll call it par for the course.
