Each week, IdahoSports.com and KPVI News 6 team up to bring you previews of the week's most intriguing matchups in East Idaho.
Flash back to August 30, 2013.
What would you have said to me if I told you that both Idaho Falls and Rigby would have a combined 11-0 record heading into their head-to-head matchup? There probably would have been some scoffing laughter, shaking of heads, possible maiming or physical injury, and definitely verbal abuse.
But here we are, now in Week Six of the High School Football season, and the Tigers and Trojans are undefeated. They are the talk of East Idaho football it seems.
I knew that Idaho Falls had a chance to be good this year if they were put in the right situation with the right coach. Having covered their previous two years of games at Ravsten Stadium, I knew they had talent, but who could harness it?
As for Rigby, I did not see that one coming. And neither did you. And maybe not even the Trojan faithful. But look at 'em now: a 6-0 record with three wins in conference play. It's nice to see a resurgence of a program like Rigby, it makes you feel good for the kids involved.
One of these two teams will unfortunately end up being on the losing end what is sure to be a great game. But whoever comes up short cannot let that loss diminish what they have accomplished so far this year. Two programs restored to winning ways and two fan-bases re-energized.
We will have this game for you LIVE on Thursday night from Ravsten Stadium in Idaho Falls. Join Sven Alskog and Tyler Belnap on the call.
