USA Today has finalized the top eight coaches in their "Best Coach In Idaho Football" poll. And now, they've opened up the voting to us!
The finalists for the top honor are:
1. Bill Brock, Middleton
Brock, who has more than 20 years of coaching experience, had led his teams to seven state championship appearances, including Middleton's two consecutive state title appearances in 2011 and 2012.
2. Lane Kirkland, Carey
Kirkland has led Carey for 13 seasons, winning three state championships.
3. Lee Neumann, Centennial
Neumann has led Centennial to three state championships in Idaho's largest class, including an unexpected upset in the 1996 title game.
4. Mitch Buck, Madison
Last season, Buck steered the team to 12-0 record and to the 5A state title, the team's first since 1995.
5. Shawn Amos, Coeur d'Alene
Amos, Coeur d'Alene's coach since 1997, has led the team to three consecutive state title games, including two wins in 2010 and 2011.
6. Stan Buck, Blackfoot
Since 2007, Buck has led the team to four state championships, including back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012.
7. Tim Brennan, Bishop Kelly
Brennan served as head coach for 15 seasons (1992-2006), three of which were 12-0 with three state titles and six state championship appearances. He returned to Bishop Kelly in 2011.
8. Tom Harrison, Pocatello
Harrison has coached for 31 seasons and has been at Pocatello since 2003. He has won 10 state championships and was named Coach of the Year nine times.
