Valley over Cole Valley 35-33
The last time the Cole Valley girls were at the state tournament, it was 2000 and they were a 1A school. Madi Holly and Sierra Rice will need to play big if the Lady Chargers hope to go very far. Valley defended their district title this year and head back to state for the 2nd year in a row. However, they hope to play three games this year instead of just two like last year.
Ririe over Soda Springs 36-31
It's head coach Wade
Schvaneveldt's 12th season and I still can't pronounce his last name. Luckily for the Cardinals, that counts at state as much as my opinion counts to my wife. Seniors Anndee Neuman and Kelsey Yamauchi will need to step up and play big. Ririe comes to state as the unanimous #1 team in the 2A classification. The Lady Bulldogs were first Nuclear Conference team to finish
conference action 8-0 since the 2007 Butte County team, which I can almost guarantee without even looking, had an Isham on it.
Firth over New Plymouth 56-50
The Lady Cougars come in to the state tournament with a couple of pretty impressive accomplishments already. They are the only Idaho team beat the
#1 3A team, Sugar-Salem, and #1 2A team, Ririe. The Grims continue to rely on a steady diet of defense, defense and more defense, holding their opponents to only 33.7 ppg this year.
Grangeville over Melba 63-48
Grangeville is another team that replies heavily on great defense, especially from Sr. Chantel Key who averages around 9 steals per game. The Bulldogs are back at the state tournament for the 11th time over the past dozen year. They grow 'em big in Melba. Head coach Darrin Shindle has three girls 5'11" or taller on his team. Winners of the last two consecutive consolation titles, the Mustangs are looking for their very first state championship
