The Bell Lap: Idaho Shows Out At Oregon Relays
Gem State athletes shined this past weekend at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

Boise, Capital, Mountain View, Vallivue, Coeur d’Alene, Coeur d’Alene Charter, Bonners Ferry and Timberline all represented Idaho over the weekend at the annual Oregon Relays at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, and nine Gem State athletes came away with wins.

Vallivue junior Jakobe Davis became Idaho’s newest member of the sub-48 second boys 400 meter club, winning the boys 400 championship in a personal best 47.81 to put him in a tie for No. 6 all-time on record in Idaho.

Bonners Ferry senior Hallie Hartman won the girls shot put championship with a personal best mark of 43-1.75, her third consecutive win in the event thus far this season.

Also getting a third consecutive win in as many meets was Mountain View junior Lilly Stebbins, who cleared a season best 5-5 to win the girls high jump championship.

Mountain View’s Denton Wilson, Beau Stewart, Cashton Gennette and Behr Scott won the boys 4x100 championship in 41.42, leaning forward at the line to take the win over Glacier Peak (Wash). That time is No. 3 all-time on record in Idaho in the event.

In the girls 800 open, Coeur d’Alene Charter senior Helen Oyler won in a personal best 2:15.50. Her teammate and fellow senior Reagan Meine won the girls 300 hurdles open in 44.43.

Boise placed sixth in the final co-ed team standings at Oregon Relays with 58 points. Wilson (Long Beach, Calif.) won the team title for a fourth consecutive year with 169 points.

Numerous Idaho athletes placed elsewhere at Oregon Relays, several with personal bests. Boise junior Luke Bruce placed second in the boys 2k steeplechase championship in 6:13.59, which puts him at No. 6 in the U.S. in the event per athletic.net. Mountain View senior Clara Lowry placed fourth in the girls 2k steeplechase championship in 7:25.39, putting her at No. 11 in the U.S.

Coeur d’Alene Charter senior and Oregon commit Annabelle Carr placed second in the girls 800 championship in a personal best 2:10.30, putting her at No. 2 all-time on record in Idaho and No. 20 in the U.S. Carr also placed seventh in the girls 1-mile championship in 4:54.86, putting her at No. 18 in the U.S. That mile time converts to a 4:52.77 for the 1,600, which is No. 10 all-time on record in Idaho.

Boise’s Lucy Spiess, Olivia McNeeley, Reese Kindig and Audrey Orme placed sixth in the girls 4,000 distance medley relay championship in 12:04.75, a school record which puts them at No. 11 in the U.S.

Capital’s Grace Russell, Eden Francis, Christine Huckins and Alena Garrison ran a school record 1:48.11 for third place in the girls 800 sprint medley relay championship. Huckins, an Indiana commit, placed sixth in the girls 200 championship in 24.76.

Mountain View senior and Utah Valley commit Quincy Keller placed second in the girls 100 championship in 11.99 and was part of the Mavericks’ sixth place girls 800 sprint medley relay team with Addie Lee, Peyton Anderson and Brinley Lathrop (1:50.80).

Boise junior Quinton Williams placed third in the boys 400 championship in 48.89 and was also part of Boise’s 4x200 team with Henry Terhaar, Kade Lawyer and Eli Rich which place third in 1:28.96.

Timberline’s Joseph St. Pierre, Asher Hella, William Cox and Ethan Kirkendall placed second in the boys 4x400 championship in 3:22.84. Capital’s Bronson Christy, Lennox Bowling, Logan Armer and Carsen Shreve were sixth in 3:26.96 and Vallivue’s Dawson Mann, Landon Rowley, Tyler Wyatt and Davis were seventh in 3:27.45.

Capital’s Abby Anttonen, Alena Garrison, Amelie Purcell and Huckins were sixth in the girls 4x400 championship in 4:01.57. Anttonen, Purcell, Sage Powell and Ruthie Sullivan placed sixth in the 4x800 championship in 9:36.40.

Capital junior Elliot Schrack placed sixth in the boys javelin championship with a personal best mark of 176-4. His teammate, senior Nick Loufoua, placed third in the boys triple jump championship with a mark of 45-4.5.

Boise’s Ben Hugaboom, Michael Restuccia, Cache Haines and Henry Beebe placed fifth in the boys 4x800 championship in 8:03.64.

Bonners Ferry senior Hana Hartman placed fifth in the girls shot put championship with a mark of 39-4.5.

Mountain View senior Kristin Geiser tied for fifth in the girls high jump championship upon clearing 5-3.

Coeur d’Alene sophomore Rowan Henry placed seventh in the boys 2-mile championship in 9:04.87, which converts to a 9:01.10 for the 3,200 and puts him at No. 10 all-time on record in Idaho.

Mountain View senior Koda Van Dahlen placed second in the boys 1-mile open in a personal best 4:17.94 and Coeur d’Alene junior Wyatt Carr was third in 4:18.36. Carr’s teammate, senior Dakota Keyworth, was fifth in the girls 2-mile open in a personal best 11:06.66. Also for Coeur d’Alene, senior Mitchell Rietze placed fourth in the boys 800 open in a personal best 1:55.19.

Boise’s Kade Lawyer placed third in the freshman boys 100 championship in 11.31 and teammate Lauren Smith placed second in the freshman girls 100 championship in 12.23.

Closer to home at the Highland Gold Baton Relays on Saturday in Pocatello, Marsh Valley senior and BYU commit Lydia Townsend cleared 12-6 to win pole vault for her third consecutive outdoor win in the event in 2026. Hillcrest senior Alexa Weatherly won girls javelin at the same meet with a personal best 128-2, giving her nine victories in her last 10 meets going back to the start of her junior season.

Highland senior and Texas Tech commit Spencer Van Orden, who won 300 hurdles (38.77) and was part of Highland’s winning boys 4x200 (1:28.64) and mixed 4x400 (3:48.66) at Gold Baton, is currently No. 9 in the U.S. with his 13.75 in 110 hurdles as of Monday.

On the Horizon
The annual Boise Relays take place Saturday at Dona Larsen Park. As of Monday, 57 teams are registered.

Athletes from Marsh Valley, Coeur d’Alene and Coeur d’Alene Charter will compete this weekend at the 58th annual Arcadia Invitational in Arcadia, Calif., a meet known for national records set by the likes of Olympians Noah Lyles, Michael Norman, Will Claye, Sydney McLaughlin Levrone and Tara Davis-Woodhall.
