Weiser claimed its second consecutive Class 4A championship in boys tennis, and did so with just six athletes competing at state.
The Wolverines squeezed the absolute most out of their lineup, as both of Weiser’s singles players, top-seeded Dauge McClellan and fifth-seeded Alejandro Travanco, met in an all-Weiser finals match. McClellan defeated Travanco 6-3, 6-1 to win the individual championship.
In doubles play, the second-seeded duo of Kolin Cook and Diego Delgadillo advanced all the way to the championship match, settling for second place after a loss to Parma’s Max Goodson ad Braden Hancock. Weiser’s second doubles team, sixth-seeded Luke Bake and Klete Cook, won an opening round match before falling in the quarterfinals.
