CLASS 5A

Coeur d’Alene 29, Lewiston 16

The Vikings (3-0 Inland Empire League, 7-2 overall) wrapped up the regular season title with a second-half surge over Lewiston (1-2, 4-5), who finished third in the IEL. Coeur d’Alene had a great balance on offense, as Caden Symons threw for 250 yards and a touchdown, while Owen Harris rushed for 115 yards. Symons and Brett Myers also scored rushing TDs. Lewiston scored on a seven-yard touchdown run by quarterback Drew Hottinger and a 60-yard pick six from Rylan Gomez.

Post Falls 42, Lake City 14

The Trojans (2-1 IEL, 6-3 overall) won their season finale on Thursday night. Then, on Friday, the Trojans officially clinched second place and a home playoff game thanks to Coeur d’Alene’s win over Lewiston. The Trojans defense forced four turnovers in the victory, as Nick Chamberlain and Shawn Hudson both recovered fumbles. Hudson and Nolan Vaughan also came away with interceptions. Offensively, Devin Burton scored two rushing touchdowns, while Tevin Burns and Caden Smith each scored once. Isaac McKeown also threw two TDs (one to Asher Bowie, one to Alex Shields.) Lake City (0-3, 2-7) saw Tyson Ruggiero throw touchdown passes to Jacob Hill and Travis Usdrowski.

Eagle 22, Meridian 21

Eagle (9-0) nipped Meridian (6-3) in the Southern Idaho Conference Championship Game on Friday night. With the win, Eagle clinched the top seed from into the playoffs, and home field advantage through the semifinal round. Meridian, meanwhile, takes the second seed into the playoffs and has a home game for the quarterfinals. Both received first round byes, as well. The Mustangs scored on their opening drive on a one-yard run by Noah Burnham, then extended the lead on a five-yard run by Austin Ramsey in the second quarter. Trailing 14-0, Meridian began their comeback. Marco Del Rio scored on a 17-yard touchdown run just before halftime to bring the Warriors to within 14-7. Then, with 10:21 to play in the fourth, quarterback Zeke Martinez scored on a one-yard run to tie the game at 14-14 and send the contest to overtime. In OT, Meridian scored first when Martinez hit Rylie Byington for a four-yard score. Eagle answered on their possession on a one-yard run from Burnham. Eagle coach James Cluph then decided to go for the two-point conversion to win the game, and Burnham ran it in to give the Mustangs the win.

Boise 22, Centennial 15

In a do-or-die SIC Divisional Playoff game, Centennial (1-8) nearly stole a playoff bid, jumping out to a 9-2 lead at halftime. Boise (7-2) eventually settled in to earn the hard-fought win, clinching a spot in the playoffs in the process. Trevor Schoolfield threw a touchdown pass to Will Gebert, while Alex Hess and Cooper Smith each scored rushing TDs in the second half for the Brave.

Rocky Mountain 35, Kuna 6

Rocky Mountain (6-3) fell behind 6-0, but regained control and officially clinched a spot in the 5A postseason with their SIC Divisional Playoff win over Kuna (4-5). Zack Schledewitz (110 yards, TD), Taeshaun Reece (58 yards, 2 TDs) and Trey Broadbent (49 yards, TD) all contributed with strong rushing totals for the Grizzlies.

Owyhee 36, Timberline 20

Matt Irwin passed for 173 yards and three touchdowns as Owyhee (7-2) officially earned a spot in the playoffs with a win over Timberline (1-8) in an SIC Divisional Playoff game. Nathan Gamette also hit three field goals for the Storm, covering 37, 42 and 40 yards, respectively.

Middleton 28, Borah 19

Middleton (7-2) advanced to the postseason on the strength of its running game, defeating Borah (4-5) in an SIC Divisional Playoff game. Cole Holman ran for 140 yards and two touchdowns, while Paxti Franks added 88 yards. Borah still has a chance to qualify for the playoffs. The Lions will be competing with Madison for the lone at-large playoff berth in Class 5A. The team with the highest MaxPreps rating will receive the bid.

Mountain View 37, Capital 21

In a matchup of the fourth place teams from each of the SIC’s divisions, Mountain View (6-3) had no problems with Capital (2-7) in their SIC Divisional Playoff win. Henry Nelson threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns for the Mavs in the victory. With the win, Mountain View advances to the 5A playoffs.

Highland 29, Thunder Ridge 21

Highland (3-0 High Country Conference, 8-1 overall) wrapped up the regular season with a tight win over fourth place Thunder Ridge (0-3, 1-8). Rhidge Barela shifted from wide receiver to quarterback for the Rams, and threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Barela also rushed for 73 yards and a TD. Jackson Riddle chipped in with 107 yards and a pair of rushing TDs. The Rams received a first round bye into the Class 5A playoffs.

Rigby 42, Madison 0

Rigby (2-1 High Country Conference, 5-4 overall) officially clinched the second playoff spot from their conference with a shut out win over Madison (1-2, 4-5). Luke Flowers threw three touchdown passes in the win. Brecken Searle caught two TDs, while Kade Steffler hauled in the other. Payton Klinger scored a pair of rushing TDs, while Jerzey Duenes also scored on the ground.


CLASS 4A

Sandpoint 50, Lethbridge Colleg
iate Institute (Alberta, Canada) 27

Sandpoint (6-3) tuned up for a first round playoff game next weekend with a victory over the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute from Alberta, Canada. Kody Brewster rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown, Shane Sherrill added 41 yards and a score, and Drew Lehman threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns to Maverick Gomez and Max Frank. Frank turned in his usual dual-threat stat line as well, rushing for 52 yards and a score, while also catching four passes for 59 yards and a TD. Blayne Kanning also returned an interception for a touchdown.

Lakeland 31, Moscow 0

Lakeland (1-1 Inland Empire League, 5-4 overall) blanked Moscow (0-2, 1-7) in the regular season finale for each team. The Hawks will now prepare for a first round playoff game on the road. Clive Hobbs, Peyton Hillman and Dylan Scott all rushed for touchdowns in the win. Roan Reilly returned an interception 18 yards for a score, and Owen Forsman booted a 35-yard field goal to round out the scoring.

Bishop Kelly 36, Skyview 7

Bishop Kelly (5-0 Southern Idaho Conference, 9-0 overall) won the SIC title over Skyview (4-1, 6-3), although both teams are headed to the 4A playoffs with top eight seeds. Peter Minnaert rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights. Ben Avella threw touchdown passes to Cooper Cammann and offensive tackle Rakeem Johnson on a hook-and-lateral play, and Cammann also scored a TD run.

Emmett 41, Ridgevue 0

The Huskies (3-2 SIC, 6-3 overall) finished the regular season with a third-place finish in the conference and an at-large berth into the 4A playoffs, courtesy of a shutout win over Ridgevue (2-6, 1-4). Ryder Scheibe threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns, and added 101 yards and a touchdown rushing for Emmett. Isaac Brennan rushed for 79 yards and a TD, while Quentin Smith added 57 yards and a pair of scores. Haus Davis and Kenyon Carter each caught touchdown passes, as well.

Columbia 63, Caldwell 6

Columbia (4-5) jumped out to a 36-6 lead over Caldwell (1-8) in the regular season finale for both teams. The Wildcats rushed for 283 yards as a team in the victory, and the Columbia defense held Caldwell to just 162 yards of total offense.

Vallivue 17, Nampa 14

This non-conference batlle turned out to be a fantastic matchup. Class 4A Vallivue (3-6) led Class 5A Nampa (0-9) 10-7 at the end of three quarters, thanks to a 75-yard touchdown run from Ryker Oswald and a 37-yard field goal from Connor Blaisdell. The Bulldogs answered on their first drive of the fourth period, though, as Josh Peterson scored on a three-yard run, giving Nampa a 14-10 lead. But Vallivue answered with a two-yard plunge from Isaac Moore, and the Falcons’ defense held from there to preserve the win.

Twin Falls 43, Minico 15

Twin Falls (5-0 Great Basin Conference, 8-1 overall) left no doubt as to which Great Basin team was the best in 2023. Grayson Keyes earned the hat trick for the Bruins, as he returned a kickoff 87 yards for a score, returned an interception 36 yards for a TD, and ran in a one-yard touchdown on the ground. Wyatt Solosabal scored twice on the ground, and Amos Kun added a rushing TD, as well. Carson Wayment scored on a touchdown run and also threw a touchdown pass to Ryker Stimpson to lead Minico (4-1, 6-3). Both teams qualified for the playoffs and will host first-round playoff games.

Burley 32, Canyon Ridge 23

Burley (3-2 GBC, 4-5 overall) officially took third place in the conference with the win. Mack Jensen threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns for the Bobcats, while the Burley ground game churned out 213 yards. Canyon Ridge (2-3, 6-3) was playing without senior quarterback Conner Willis, who suffered a season-ending broken collarbone injury. With Willis sidelined, the Hawks turned to running back Caleb Somers, who rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns.

Jerome 25, Mountain Home 20

Trailing 20-19 entering the fourth quarter of action, Jerome (1-4 GBC, 1-8 overall) rallied with a touchdown and a couple of defensive stops to earn their first win of the year over Mountain Home (0-5, 2-7).

Pocatello 42, Century 8


Pocatello (2-0 South East Idaho Conference, 5-2 overall) claimed their third consecutive league title by defeating their crosstown rivals from Century (0-2, 0-8). The Thunder earned a top eight seed and home playoff game in the process. Dre Contreras went 11-of-14 passing for 182 yards and two touchdowns, and added 54 yards and two TDs rushing. Ryken EchoHawk rushed for 68 yards and a score, while Julian Bowie and Ty Wilkinson caught TD passes.

Preston 21, Snake River 20

Class 4A Preston scored the game-tying touchdown with just over a minute to play, as Karson Winder scored on a one-yard run to knot the game up at 20-20. Brenym Rawlings then nailed the point-after kick to give Preston the one-point lead. Snake River (5-4), the District 5 champs in Class 3A, were led by Peyton Williams. Williams threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 69 yards and a TD rushing. The Panthers will now host a first-round playoff game.

Hillcrest 41, Idaho Falls 14

The Knights (5-0 High Country Conference, 9-0 overall) finished the regular season undefeated with a win over Idaho Falls (1-4, 3-6), and will now prepare for a first round playoff game. Peyton King threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Skyline 30, Shelley 13

Skyline (4-1 HCC, 6-3 overall) wrapped up second place in the league standings a home game in the first round of the playoffs with the win. Zyan Crockett rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on just five carries, while Amani Morel added 96 yards. CarMyne Garcia threw for 72 yards, and rushed for 52 yards and a pair of scores. Shelley (3-2, 4-5) finished third in the HCC standings and will hit the road for the first round of the playoffs.

Bonneville 28, Blackfoot 13

Bonneville (2-3 HCC, 4-5 overall) finished fourth in the league standings thanks to Friday night’s win. Wyat Blanchard completed 11-of-16 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Kanyon Todd rushed for 89 yards and a TD and caught six passes for 68 yards and a score. Keaton Trane logged 109 yards rushing with a touchdown, and caught four ball for 44 yards and a TD. Blackfoot (0-5, 0-9) scored on a pair of touchdown passes from Jace Cooper to Noah Lora.


CLASS 3A

Timberlake 66, Bonners Ferry 28

Timberlake (1-0 Intermountain League, 5-4 overall) won the regular season IML title over Bonners Ferry (0-1, 3-6), and will host a first-round playoff game. Cole Meidinger completed 11-of-18 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Cooper Lenz and Jacob Yetter caught a touchdown apiece, and finished with identical 121 yard receiving totals. Lenz also rushed for 83 yards and two scores, while Yetter came away with an interception on defense. Caius Tebbe (89 yards, 2 TDs) and Vaughn Higgins (50 yards, 2 TDs) also turned in strong efforts on the ground.

Homedale 34, McCall-Donnelly 7

Homedale (5-0 Snake River Conference, 9-0 overall) won their sixth consecutive conference title on Friday night. Dillon Fine completed 15-of-21 passes 182 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 104 yards and a score on the ground, and an interception on defense. His top target was Rafa Cuenca, who caught seven passes for 140 yards and two TDs. Andrew Marston led the ground game with 140 yards and a touchdown. McCall-Donnelly (3-2, 6-2) finished third in the SRV and also qualified for the playoffs.

Weiser 49, Fruitland 18

Weiser (4-1 SRV, 8-1 overall) wrapped up a second-place finish in the league with the win over Fruitland (2-3, 2-7). Weiser rushed for 230 yards as a team in the win, and also saw Ryndon Olsen return a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Fruitland finished fourth in the conference, and will have to wait and see if they received an at-large bid into the 3A playoffs.

Payette 54, Parma 32

Payette (1-4 SRV, 2-7 overall) finished its season on a high note, defeating district rival Parma (0-5, 0-9) to avoid a last-place finish in the conference. Darrien Pecunia threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns for the Pirates, and also rushed for 99 yards and two scores. Tyler Feeley rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns as well, and Josh Rodriguez took an interception back 90 yards for a touchdown on defense.

Kimberly 45, Gooding 0

Kimberly (4-0 Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference, 9-0 overall) wrapped up an undefeated regular season and the conference title, and will now host a first-round playoff game. Kade Larson threw for 213 yards and four touchdowns, while also leading the ground attack with 41 yards. Kasen Hammond caught five passes for 60 yards and two TDs, Parker Stringham had four grabs for 67 yards and a score, and Mason Jensen caught three balls for 77 yards and a touchdown. Michael Goff rushed for a score and came away with an interception on defense, as well. Gooding (1-3, 2-7) finished in fourth place and must now wait to see if their MaxPreps rating is good enough to garner an at-large playoff berth.

Buhl 41, Filer 24

Buhl (3-1 SCIC, 6-3 overall) earned second place in the final league standings, thanks to the win over Filer (0-4, 0-9). Gabe Finley threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns in the win, and added 67 yards rushing with a TD and an interception on defense. Riley Brunson rushed for 110 yards and two scores, while Collin Robinson recovered two fumbles defensively.

Marsh Valley 21, American Falls 12

Marsh Valley (1-1 South East Idaho Conference, 2-7 overall) claimed second place and the final auto bid to the playoffs from District 5 by storming out to a 15-0 lead in the first half of play. Bo Larsen rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles, while Tuff Solomon added 43 yards. Christian Bastian also chipped in with 32 yards and a TD. Cooper Bowan threw for 73 yards and a touchdown to Chandler Bennett. American Falls (0-2, 3-6) was led by Dax Brower, who threw for 147 yards and a touchdown to Austin Adair. The Beavers will have to wait and see if their MaxPreps rating is high enough to garner an at-large spot into the postseason.

Sugar-Salem 55, South Fremont 12

The Diggers (2-0 Mountain Rivers Conference, 8-0 overall) finished the regular season with an undefeated mark with a win over their rivals from South Fremont (0-2, 1-8). Carson Harris rushed for 263 yards and two touchdowns, while Josiah Bosco and Tate Cutler also found the end zone on the ground. James Chase completed 11-of-18 passes for 186 yards and three TDs. Dawson McInelly caught five passes for 59 yards and a touchdown, while Cach Harris and Bosco also caught scores. Defensively, Clark Siddoway and Ryan Bingham collected sacks, while Cach Harris snared an interception.

Teton 41, Meeker (CO) 6

Teton (7-1) finished its regular season with a neutral site victory over Meeker High from Colorado. The game was played at Evanston High School in Wyoming. The Timberwolves jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead, and led 41-0 at the end of the third quarter. Teton will now prepare for a first round playoff game.


CLASS 2A

St. Maries 44, Orofino 20

St. Maries (2-1 Central Idaho League, 3-5 overall) finished their season on a high note, defeating Orofino (0-3, 0-7). Trey Gibson rushed for 261 yards and five touchdowns in the victory. Neither the Lumberjacks nor the Maniacs have a high enough MaxPreps rating to qualify for the 2A playoffs.

Kellogg 27, Priest River 0

Kellogg (3-6) concluded their season with a shutout victory over Priest River (4-1). Reed Whatcott rushed for two touchdowns and also threw touchdown passes to Jaeger Hall and Coleman Blalack to lead the way.

Nampa Christian 36, Melba 22

Nampa Christian (4-0 Western Idaho Conference, 6-2 overall) finished as the WIC champs and earned a first-round bye in the 2A playoffs, thanks to a win over Melba (3-1, 6-2), who finished second. The Trojans piled up 429 yards of total offense, starting fast and finishing even faster. Nampa Christian’s Aiden Thompson threw a pair of first quarter touchdown passes (including a 70-yard bomb to Tyler Szilagyi). Then, with the Trojans clinging to a 21-14 lead in the fourth quarter, Matthew Nevarez gave Nampa Christian the breathing room it needed with a 65-yard touchdown run.

Declo 50, Wendell 14

Declo (1-0 Canyon Conference, 9-0 overall) claimed the conference title in emphatic fashion over Wendell (0-1, 5-4) and will now enjoy a first round bye in the 2A state playoffs. Will Garrard threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Max Snedaker totaled 133 yards on offense and found the end zone three times. Defensively, Bode Backenbury returned an interception 35 yards for a score.

West Side 49, Malad 0

West Side (4-0 South East Idaho Conference, 6-2 overall) will enter the playoffs on a high note after shutting out Malad (1-3, 4-5). The Pirates will receive a first round bye in the 2A state playoffs. West Side piled up 307 rushing yards in the victory. Colten Gundersen scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Parker Moser and Drake Sage also found the end zone on the ground. Eli Brown threw touchdown passes to Lincoln Henderson and Trayce Stone, and also returned an interception 39-yards for a score.

Aberdeen 26, Bear Lake 14

Aberdeen (3-1 South East Idaho Conference, 5-3 overall) won the battle for second place in the league standings. Lupe Ortiz was a perfect 3-for-3 passing for 47 yards and a touchdown to Canon Foster. Ortiz also rushed for 82 yards and a score, while Luke Shackelford added 15 yards and a pair of rushing TDs. Bear Lake (2-2, 4-4) finished third and was led by Rhett Lloyd, who threw for 117 yards and a touchdown to Toby Flake.

North Fremont 52, Ririe 12

North Fremont (3-0 Nuclear Conference, 7-1 overall) officially wrapped up the Nuke title, a top five seed in the state, and a first round bye in the playoffs by defeating Ririe (1-2, 3-4). The Bulldogs narrowly missed out on the playoffs.

Firth 32, West Jefferson 6

Firth (2-1 Nuclear, 3-4 overall) ended the regular season with momentum, defeating West Jefferson (0-3, 1-7) to take second place in the Nuke. The Cougars will now hit the road for a first round playoff game.


CLASS 1AD1

Logos 66, Prairie 40

Logos (7-0 Whitepine League, 8-0 overall) finished their regular season unbeaten, and will now enjoy a first-round bye for the 1AD1 playoffs. Jack Driskill threw for 354 yards and five touchdowns, and rushed for 100 yards and two scores. Ben Carlson hauled in two TD receptions, while Jonathan Morrill, Lucius Comis and Henry Sundlie also hauled in scores. Prairie (4-3, 5-3) just missed out on an at-large berth into the playoffs, and were led by Noah Behler and Treton Lorentz. Behler threw two touchdowns to Lorentz, Lorentz scored two rushing TDs, and Behler added a rushing touchdowns, as well.

Kamiah 28, Potlatch 0

Kamiah (6-1 WPL, 7-1 overall) clinched second place in the Whitepine standings, relegating Potlatch (5-2, 6-2) to third place. David Kludt threw for 106 yards and a touchdown to Colton Ocain, and added 62 yards rushing with two TDs. Ocain added 48 yards and a score on the ground, while Connor Weddle led all Kamiah rushers with 94 yards. Potlatch quarterback Jack Clark threw for 72 yards.

Lapwai 75, Genesee 0

Lapwai (3-4 WPL, 4-4) may have missed out on the 1AD1 playoffs, but they ended their season with some excitement by shutting out Genesee (0-7, 0-8). Ahlius Yearout tallied four rushing touchdowns, one passing touchdown, and one receiving touchdown, and also led the Wildcats’ defense with 14 tackles.

Clearwater Valley 54, Troy 6

The Rams (2-6 WPL, 2-5 overall) finished their season with a win. Bass Myers rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns, while Jake Fabbi added 101 yards and two scores. Troy (1-6, 1-7) scored on touchdown run by quarterback Makhi Durrett.

Idaho City 60, Rimrock 20

Idaho City (2-1 Western Idaho Conference, 2-5 overall) clinched the second and final playoff berth available from District 3 with a resounding win over Rimrock (1-2, 2-6). It’s the second year in a row the Wildcats and Raiders have played a de facto playoff game one week before the actual postseason; Idaho City has won both times.

Oakley 74, Glenns Ferry 14

Oakley (6-0 Snake River Conference, 7-1 overall) finished its regular season as the undisputed league champs, and will rest up during their first round bye during the state 1AD1 playoffs. The Hornets opened up a 14-0 lead thanks to a three-yard run by Kyler Robinson and a 53-yard bomb from Robinson to Isaac Cranney. Other big play scoring highlights included a 57-yard connection from Robinson to Braig Bench, a 49-yard run by Bry Severe, and a 60-yard run by Kohl Beck. Landon Stuart threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns (one to Bryce Sterling, one to Aaron De Leon) for Glenns Ferry (1-5, 2-6).

Murtaugh 63, Lighthouse Christian 30

Murtaugh (4-2 Sawtooth, 6-2 overall) officially finished second in the league standings with the win, and will host a first round playoff game against this same opponent. Jr. Benites rushed for 302 yards and seven touchdowns in the win, while Oscar Aburto added a rushing score. Soyer Young also threw a touchdown pass to Sway Stanger, and led the defense with 11 tackles. Lighthouse Christian (3-3, 5-3) claimed an at-large playoff berth, and were paced by Johnny Millenkamp’s 85 yards and two touchdowns rushing.

Carey 44, Raft River 6

This game was scoreless for most of the first half, but Carey (3-3 Sawtooth, 3-5 overall) surged just before halftime to take the momentum from Raft River (1-5, 2-6). After scoring a rushing TD with just over three minutes before halftime, the Panthers’ defense forced a quick three-and-out and promptly scored again on a Nik Versis touchdown run with just 39 seconds to play. Two plays later, the Trojans fumbled at their own 25-yard line, and the Panthers recovered. That led to a touchdown pass from Preston Wood to AJ Black with just one second remaining, and a 20-0 halftime lead.

Valley 66, Notus 32

Valley (5-4) earned a major confidence boost ahead of the playoffs with a non-conference win over District 3 champion Notus (5-2). Josh Hardy rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns, and threw for 119 yards and two scores to lead the Vikings. Aaron Damian added 111 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and Nathan Christensen and Irving Estrada also rushed for scores. Pedro Robles and Taigen Roseborough each caught a touchdown, and Thomas Vargas racked up 11 tackles. For Notus, Grayson Benitez rushed for 120 yards and a score, and Tyler Stephens threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns.

Butte County 44, Grace 14

Butte County (2-0 High Desert Conference, 8-1 overall) won the conference title and earned a first-round bye in the 1AD1 playoffs by winning the de facto league championship game over Grace (1-1, 5-3), who will host a first round playoff game. Keaton Archibald completed 13-of-17 passes for 229 yards and five touchdowns in the win, and added 18 yards rushing with a touchdown. Brody Westergard caught four of the five touchdowns, and totaled 152 yards on eight receptions. Braxton Gamett caught the other TD, and led the Pirates’ defense with ten tackles.

Challis 59, Clark County 12

Class 1AD1 Challis (2-6) concluded its season with a non-conference win over Class 1AD2 Clark County (0-6). The game was played as a six-man contest rather than the tradtional eight-man format.

Mullan/St. Regis 52, Wallace
20

Mullan/St. Regis (6-0 North Star League, 8-1 overall) completed its regular season unbeaten in league play, and will now prepare for the playoffs. The Tigers received a first round bye and will have home-field advantage throughout the postseason. John Pruitt and Kofi Appiah each scored twice for the Tigers in the victory.

Clark Fork 44, Lakeside 42

Trailing by twenty points with 8:30 to play, Clark Fork (3-3 NSL, 4-3 overall) completed the largest comeback in school history to stun Lakeside (2-4, 3-6) and earn the second and final playoff berth available from District 1. Ethan Howard threw for 246 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Wampus Cats’ comeback. Howard’s fifth TD of the night came with just ten seconds to play, as freshmen Cameron Stewart caught the pass to tie the game at 42-42. Cole Mintken then ran in the two-point conversion for the winning points. Mintken led the ground attack with 135 yards, while Stewart caught three passes for 82 yards and two TDs. Everett Montgomery also had a strong night, catching nine passes for 152 yards and two scores.

Kendrick 112, Deary 6

Kendrick (3-0 Whitepine League, 7-0 overall) finished their regular season with an undefeated mark, and earned a first round bye for the 1AD2 playoffs. Ty Koepp went 9-of-11 passing for 237 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for a pair of TDs, as well. Sawyer Hewett caught two TDs and rushed for a pair of scores, while Hunter Taylor and Nathan Tweit also caught two touchdowns apiece. Wyatt Fitzmorris and Xavier Carpenter scored rushing touchdowns for the Tigers, also. Deary (1-3, 4-4) scored on a touchdown pass from Tucker Ashmead to Jacob Mechling.

Lewis County 52, Timberline 14

Lewis County (2-1 WPL, 4-4 overall) officially clinched second place in the Whitepine and the accompanying playoff berth with the win over Timberline (0-3, 2-6). Gage Crow rushed for five touchdowns for the Eagles, and also caught a TD pass from Aiden McLeod. Ty Goeckner also returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown. Korbin Christopherson threw touchdown passes to Ares Mabberly and Terrin Hueth to lead the Spartans.

Council 39, Salmon River 12

Salmon River (0-5 Long Pin Conference, 0-8 overall) struck first, but Council (5-0, 6-3) eventually steadied themselves and earned the undisputed conference title. Dahlton Bingham rushed for two touchdowns, caught a third, and returned a punt for a fourth. Owen Hatfield threw two touchdown passes, while Mason Roberts (rushing) and Garrison Zielinski (receiving) each scored, as well.

Tri-Valley 32, Garden Valley 20

Tri-Valley (4-1 Long Pin, 6-2 overall) earned second place in the conference standings and a home playoff game with the win. Garden Valley (3-2, 6-3) finished third and will travel for the opening round of the playoffs. Tri-Valley scored a touchdown with 30 seconds to play before halftime, and struck again with just ten seconds remaining. Those two scores were the difference in an otherwise even matchup. Jace Waggoner scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, and also threw a TD to Klaytin Harper. Harper and Gage Warren also scored on the ground for Tri-Valley. Garden Valley’s Trevor Corn, Tacoma Kelly and Tim Larsen each scored a rushing touchdown.

Cascade 54, Horseshoe Bend 46

The Ramblers (2-3 Long Pin, 5-3 overall) finished the year with a winning record and a fourth place finish in the conference. Horseshoe Bend (1-4, 4-5) finished in fourth.

Camas County 88, Dietrich 18

Camas County (5-0 Sawtooth Conference, 7-1 overall) left no doubt as to who the best team in the league was in 2023. The Mushers won their first Sawtooth title since 2004 in another well-rounded effort. Troy Smith rushed for 246 yards and five touchdowns, while Tyson Tupper added 132 yards and two scores. Sage Patten ran well, also, finishing with 77 yards and a touchdown. Tristen Smith was a perfect 5-for-5 passing for 136 yards and two scores, while Trevor Tews caught four passes for 122 yards and two scores. Dietrich (3-2, 5-3) finished third in the conference and will travel for their first round playoff game.

Hagerman 52, Shoshone 0

Hagerman (4-1 Sawtooth, 7-2 overall) prepped for a first round playoff game at home by officially wrapping up second place in the league. Shoshone concludes its season at 0-5, 0-8.

Castleford 32, Hansen 14

Although they didn’t qualify for the playoff, Castleford (2-3 Sawtooth, 3-5 overall) ended its season on a high note with a win over Hansen (1-4, 1-7) and a fourth place finish. Freshman Eric Lemus scored a trio of rushing touchdowns for the Wolves, while Crash Taylor also ran in a touchdown. Jayme Ramos also hit Cache Keetch on a halfback pass for a TD.

Richfield 54, Murtaugh JV 28

Richfield (4-3) finished its independent schedule with a win over Murtaugh’s JV on Wednesday night. Freshman quarterback Devin Scott completed 9-of-14 passes for 208 yards and five touchdowns. Fellow freshman Jose Alvarado led the ground attack with ten carries for 112 yards, while Scott and Justin Telford rushed for touchdowns. Telford also had 98 yards and three touchdowns receiving, while Alvarado and Eli Brauburger also caught touchdowns.

Rockland 44, North Gem 16

Rockland (4-0 Rocky Mountain Conference, 7-2 overall) officially clinched the league title and a first round bye in the playoffs. Teague Matthews threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 58 yards and a TD. Aidan Radford caught five passes for 140 yards and three scores, while Abe Held added five grabs for 96 yards and a TD. Held also returned an interception for a touchdown.

Mackay 28, Watersprings 20

Needing to win by seven or more points to emerge on the right side of a three-way tie for second place in the Rocky Mountain Conference, Mackay (2-2, 4-3) won by eight over Watersprings (2-2, 4-4), earning the second and final playoff berth available from the conference in the process. The Warriors raced out to a 20-6 lead, thanks to a touchdown pass from Korban Nelson to Nate D’Antoni, and rushing scores from Elven Lin and Landyn Remer. But Mackay outscored Watersprings 22-0 the rest of the way. Taysen Bruley threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Paylen Bruley with five minutes to play in the opening half to bring Mackay to within 20-14, then Taysen Bruley scored on a ten-yard run with a minute remaining to tie the game 20-20 at halftime. The Miners then scored the game-winning touchdown in the second half to earn the victory and the subsequent playoff berth.
