CLASS 5A
Coeur d’Alene 31, Lake City 7
The Vikings (1-0 Inland Empire League, 5-2 overall) won their annual cross-city matchup with Lake City (0-1, 2-5) by scoring 24 of their 31 points before halftime. Caden Symons threw for 163 yards and a touchdown to Carsen Speelman. Speelman rushed for 73 yards and a score, while Owen Harris added 68 yards and Symons rushed for two TDs. Lake City scored on a five-yard pass from Avrey Cherry to Ike Johnson.
Post Falls 42, Lewiston 21
Post Falls (1-0 IEL, 5-2 overall) won their league opener by sticking with the ground game. The Trojans scored five of their six touchdowns via the rush, with Tevin Burns (three scores) and Devin Burton (two) doing the heavy lifting. Isaac McKeown also threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Asher Bowie. Lewiston (0-1, 3-4) was led by Jackson Lathen, who scored two rushing touchdowns.
Meridian 28, Rocky Mountain 24
In a Thursday night thriller, Meridian (4-0 SIC Foothills, 5-2 overall) won the Southern Idaho Conference’s Foothills Division in a come-from-behind win over Rocky Mountain (3-1, 4-3). The Grizzlies had taken a 24-21 lead with just 2:52 to play, as Collin Chapman threw a 46-yard touchdown to Taeshaun Reece on a fourth-and-ten play. But Meridian marched down the field and scored with 37 seconds to play, as Zeke Martinez hit Griffin Deere for a 16-yard touchdown to give the Warriors the win.
Middleton 27, Capital 7
After battling to a 7-7 tie through one half of play, Middleton (2-2 SIC Foothills, 5-2 overall) outscored Capital (1-3, 2-5) 20-0 in the second half to pick up the win. Cash Weeks threw for 187 yards and a touchdown for the Vikings, and added 33 yards and a touchdown rushing. His top target was Ryan Lewis, who caught three passes for 120 yards and a TD. Paxti Franks led the ground game with 91 yards and a TD.
Timberline 24, Centennial 3
Timberline (1-3 SIC Foothills, 1-6 overall) earned their first win of the season over Centennial (1-3, 1-6) and moved ahead of the Patriots in the Foothills Division standings in the process. Quarterback Jack Brandt scored on a pair of touchdown runs, while Hudson Lewis also found the end zone on the ground in the win.
Eagle 28, Mountain View 14
The Mustangs (5-0 SIC River, 7-0 overall) officially wrapped up the Southern Idaho Conference’s River Division, setting up a rematch with Foothills Division winner Meridian in two weeks in the SIC Championship Game. Eagle won over Meridian in the first game of the season by a score of 36-33. Noah Burnham rushed for 173 yards and three of Eagle’s four touchdowns in the victory. Davis Harsin also threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Seth Brock. Henry Nelson threw for 220 yards and a touchdown to Tyler Weaver for Mountain View (2-3, 4-3). Grayson Flatten also scored on a touchdown run for the Mavs.
Boise 29, Borah 28 (OT)
Boise (4-1 SIC River, 6-1 overall) trailed 21-14 with just over a minute to play. But Trevor Schoolfield threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Eli Rich to send the game to overtime, tied at 21-21. In OT, Boise had the ball first and scored on their first play from scrimmage, as Schoolfield threw a ten-yard TD to Jordan McDonald. Then, Borah (2-3, 4-3) had the ball. The Lions scored on their second play, as Jevon Nelson found the end zone on a ten-yard run. That’s when Borah coach JQ Kenyon decided to go for the two-point conversion and the win. Alas, Nelson was stopped by the Brave defense, and Boise earned the win over their biggest rival.
Owyhee 16, Kuna 14
Owyhee (4-2 SIC River, 6-2 overall) built up a 10-0 lead on a field goal from Nathan Gamette and a 40-yard touchdown pass from Matt Irwin to Ryan Brekke. But in the fourth quarter, Kuna (1-4, 3-4) rallied, as Austin Lattimer scored on an eight-yard run and Mario D’Orzio scored on an 11-yard carry. Just like that, the Kavemen led 14-10. But Owyhee would find magic one final time, as Irwin threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Brekke with just 17 seconds to play, giving the Storm the come-from-behind victory.
Highland 22, Rigby 19
For the second year in a row, Highland (1-0 High Country Conference, 6-1 overall) scored a game-winning touchdown late to topple Rigby (0-1, 3-4). This time it came on a trick play, as wide receiver Rhidge Barela threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Riddle with just 36 seconds to play. Riddle also scored on a 51-yard touchdown run for the Rams, while Drew Hymas threw a touchdown pass to Christian Alvarico, as well. Luke Flowers threw touchdown passes to Koen Peck and Parker Graham, and also ran for a score.
CLASS 4A
Sandpoint 49, Lakeland 21
Sandpoint (1-0 Inland Empire League, 4-3 overall) built up a 35-0 halftime lead, and coasted to their first league win from there. Drew Lehman completed 7-of-9 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers (Connor Hindberg, Jesse Turner and Max Frank). Kody Brewster carried the ball four times for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Shane Sherrill returned an interception 100 yards for a score. Peyton Hillman threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns for Lakeland (0-1, 3-4). Roan Reilly, Jace Taylor and Ezra Benson all caught TDs for the Hawks.
Bishop Kelly 42, Emmett 35
Things had been relatively easy for Bishop Kelly (3-0 Southern Idaho Conference, 7-0 overall) this season. The Knights were pushed to the brink on Friday by SIC rival Emmett (1-2, 3-4), but made enough plays to survive the shootout. Ben Avella completed 10-of-14 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns, while Peter Minnaert rushed for 113 yards and two TDs for BK. Isaac Brennan rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns for Emmett, while Quentin Smith added 102 yards and a TD.
Columbia 36, Ridgevue 29
Columbia (1-3 SIC, 3-4 overall) earned a critical win for their at-large playoff chances in a back-and-forth affair on Thursday night. With just over three minutes to play, the Wildcats’ Ryan Foster scored a rushing touchdown to put Columbia ahead 29-22. On the ensuing kickoff, Izaiah Kasper returned it 93 yards for the game-tying touchdown for the Warhawks. Undeterred, Columbia marched the ball down the field and Foster found the end zone again on a 12-yard run with just 35 seconds to play, sealing the win for the ‘Cats.
Skyview 35, Nampa 30
Class 5A Nampa (0-6) led 24-21 after three quarters of play, but Class 4A Skyview (5-2) rallied in a furious fourth quarter of action. Cache Beus threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns for the Hawks. He added 80 yards and a touchdown rushing. Mason Krahn caught eight passes for 104 yards and three touchdowns, and Ayden Martinez had four grabs for 111 yards and a score. Nampa was paced by Josh Peterson’s 313 yards and three touchdowns rushing.
Vallivue 70, Caldwell 25
The neighboring rivals played this game at the College of Idaho’s Simplot Stadium, and the Falcons (2-5) rolled to the win over Caldwell (1-6). Vallivue rushed for 604 yards as a team in the victory. Onix Carson accumulated 268 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries. Ryker Oswald added 223 yards and two scores on 11 totes, and returned a kickof 85 yards for a touchdown. Isaac Moore and Jordon Conlon also scored rushing TDs. Moore completed 7-of-10 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns (one to Sam Delgado, one to Briggs Marler). Defensively, Oswald, Adam Flory and Josiah Keith all came away wth interceptions, while Triston Krivanec recovered a fumble.
Minico 81, Jerome 20
Minico (4-0 Great Basin Conference, 6-2 overall) set a new school record for most points in a single game, but decide the one-sided final score, the Spartans held a narrow 16-14 early in the second quarter. In the opening half, Carson Wayment rushed for a score and threw a touchdown pass, while Spencer Pease and Preston Cranney-Sonder also found the end zone. Abram Garcia and Seth Capps each caught touchdown passes for Jerome (0-3, 0-7).
Twin Falls 27, Burley 20
Twin Falls (3-0 GBC, 6-1 overall) remained tied with Minico in the loss column atop the Great Basin standings with a tough win over Burley (1-2, 2-5). Grayson Keyes carried the ball four times for 14 yards, but found the end zone twice to lead the Twin Falls scoring. Amos Kun added 71 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while Austin Crum threw for 206 yards and a TD to Brandon Jones. Burley’s Mack Jensen threw for 204 yards and a touchdown to Kendrix Knobbe. Knobbe finished with eight catches for 152 yards, while Bodee Coombes rushed for 48 yards and two scores.
Canyon Ridge 58, Mountain Home 13
Conner Willis completed 21-of-31 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns as Canyon Ridge (2-1 GBC, 6-1 overall) picked up the league win over Mountain Home (0-4, 1-6). Kade McEntire (6 catches, 104 yards, 2 TDs) and Jasper Robinson (6 catches, 94 yards, 1 TD) led the receiving corps, while Jeric Wilson rushed for 60 yards and a score.
Preston 22, Century 19
Preston (1-0 South East Idaho Conference, 3-4 overall) kept its playoff hopes alive with a narrow win Friday night. The Indians built up a 14-0 lead thanks to a touchdown pass from Carter Perry to Kolter Moffitt and a touchdown run from Karson Winder. But, over the course of eight minutes in the third quarter, Century (0-1, 0-7) jumped ahead, 19-14. Carter Ward returned an interception for a score, and Deagan Crabtree threw a pair of touchdown passes to Bentley Gunter to bring the Diamondbacks back. But in the fourth quarter, Preston got the winning score on an eight-yard run from Winder with 3:56 to play.
Hillcrest 42, Bonneville 6
Hillcrest (3-0 High Country Conference, 7-0 overall) won their second consecutive Civil War matchup with Bonneville (1-2, 3-4). Peyton King completed 16-of-20 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns for Hillcrest, while Trason Keller led the ground game with 37 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Jace Jeudy, Ben Morris and Tayson Pinegar each caught touchdown passes, and Braxton Battleson rushed for a TD. Bonneville’s Keaton Trane rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Shelley 28, Idaho Falls 21
The Russets (3-0 HCC, 4-3 overall) snapped a 21-21 tie with Idaho Falls (0-3, 2-5) after three quarters of play with a fourth quarter touchdown.
Skyline 40, Blackfoot 19
This game was tied 19-19 early in the fourth quarter, before Skyline (2-1 HCC, 4-3 overall) exploded to pull away for the win over Blackfoot (0-3, 0-7). CarMyne Garcia completed 14-of-20 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, and added 50 yards and a score rushing. Amani Morel ran for 89 yards and a TD, and Kaesen Smith scored on a 16-yard touchdown run, also. Hamilton Woodruff (5 catches, 76 yards, 1 TD) and Morel (4 catches, 74 yards, 1 TD) led the receivers.
CLASS 3A
Bonners Ferry 20, Kellogg 14
Class 3A Bonners Ferry (2-5) built up a 14-0 halftime lead and held on for a non-conference win over Class 2A Kellogg (2-5). Brody Rice threw a long touchdown pass to Dakoda Heller in the win, while the Badgers scored twice on the ground, including the game-winner from Trey Bateman in the fourth quarter.
Homedale 21, Weiser 14
Homedale (3-0 Snake River Valley Conference, 7-0 overall) built up a multi-score lead, watched it evaporate, and then made plays late to hold off Weiser (2-1, 6-1) in the latest chapter between these two storied rivals. The Trojans scored on their first two possessions, as Dillon Fine threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Luke Henry and Andrew Marston scored on a four-yard run. But the Weiser defense put the clamps on after that, and slowly worked their way back into the game in the second half. Kolin Cook intercepted a Fine pass and returned it 20 yards for a Weiser touchdown, and Kaleb Grove scored on a one-yard run to tie the game at 14-14 early in the fourth quarter. Homedale took possesion at their own three-yard line with five minutes to play, and marched all the way down the field, capping the drive with a touchdown pass from Fine to Rafael Cuenca with just 1:30 to play. Weiser had one final chance, but in a turnabout, Cook threw an interception to Fine, and Homedale ran out the clock to earn the win.
McCall-Donnelly 69, Parma 0
The Vandals (2-1 SRV, 5-1 overall) stuck to the ground attack, rushing for 344 yards and eight touchdowns as a team in a shutout win over Parma (0-3, 0-7).
Fruitland 43, Payette 14
The Grizzlies (2-1 SRV, 2-5 overall) picked up a much-needed win, and relied on three different quarterbacks to get the job done. Tyler Black, Coye Coffman and Titus Vidlak all saw playing time at QB. Coffman threw for 82 yards and a TD, and also caught six passes for 68 yards. Vidlak added 78 yards passing with a TD, and Black threw for 40 yards and no scores. George Rodriguez led the ground game with 68 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Landon Bushong came away with an interception, and Johnathan Stines forced and recovered a fumble. Payette (0-3, 1-6) was paced by Tyler Feeley’s 131 yards and a touchdown rushing.
Kimberly 48, Wood River 7
Kimberly (2-0 Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference, 7-0 overall) blew past Wood River (1-2, 3-5) to remain tied for first place atop the league standings. Damon Taylor led the charge, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Kade Larson and Parker Stringham each threw touchdown passes in the win (one to Taylor, one to Kasen Hammond).
Gooding 25, Filer 18
Gooding (1-1 SCIC, 2-5 overall) earned their first league win of the year by winning the turnover battle in a tight game with Filer (0-3, 0-7). Braden Martin completed 8-of-10 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Filer was paced by Zach Porter’s 119 yards and two touchdowns rushing.
Buhl 29, Wendell 21
The Class 3A Indians (5-2) earned a tight non-conference win over Class 2A Wendell (5-3) by playing strong defense and controlling the line of scrimmage on offense. Riley Brunson rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, while also coming up with six tackles and two interceptions on defense. Felipe Villegas (73 yards, TD) and Gabe Finley (67 yards, TD) also contributed to the ground game. Joey Boulware finished with nine tackles and a sack to lead the Buhl defense. For Wendell, Alex Hirai threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Mikey Talbert caught six passes for 108 yards and two scores, while Bodey Cutler had five grabs for 100 yards and a TD.
Snake River 30, Marsh Valley 7
Payton Williams threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns as Snake River (1-0 South East Idaho Conference, 4-3 overall) won their conference opener. Marsh Valley (0-1, 0-7) scored on a Bo Larsen touchdown run.
Teton 68, South Fremont 20
Teton’s (1-0 Mountain Rivers Conference, 6-0 overall) explosive offense was on display once again in a blow-by win over South Fremont (0-1, 1-6). Jack Nelson completed 13-of-19 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns. Ty Brown caught six passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, while Jack Joyce caught the other TD pass. Joyce rushed for 68 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, but Thomas Heuseveldt did better: five carries, 114 yards and three scores. Heuseveldt also hauled in six passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.
CLASS 2A
Grangeville 54, St. Maries 26
Grangeville (2-0 Central Idaho League, 3-3 overall) took a significant step forward towards the regular season CIL title with a win over St. Maries (1-1, 2-5). Troy Long rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs, while St. Maries was paced by Eli Gibson’s 191 yards and touchdown rushing. Gibson also returned a kickoff 78 yards for a TD.
Priest River 14, Orofino 8
Priest River (3-0) scored on their first possession of the game, as Kemper Dabrowski scored on a 55-yard touchdown run. The Spartans led 6-0, and that lead held until the third quarter, when Orofino (0-5) answered. The Maniacs were facing a fourth-and-goal from the 17-yard line, when coach Jake Maetche opted for a trick play. Aiden Olive threw a 17-yard touchdown on a halfback pass to Nolan Williams to tie the game at 6-6. Olive then ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-6 lead. But Dabrowski scored again for Priest River on a one-yard run with just over three minutes to play, securing the win for the Spartans.
Nampa Christian 53, New Plymouth 22
Nampa Christian (3-0 Western Idaho Conference, 5-2 overall) stayed ½ game ahead of Melba for first place in the league standings with the win. Aiden Thompson threw for 166 yards and five touchdowns in the win, and also rushed for 72 yards. Jack Ihli caught two touchdowns from Thompson, while Luke Lady, Addison Taylor and Mason McDaniel also found the end zone on receptions. Colton Frates threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns for the Pilgrims. Payton Travis rushed for 53 yards and a TD.
Melba 22, Marsing 16
Melba (2-0 WIC, 5-1 overall) trailed Marsing (1-2, 4-3) 16-14 entering the fourth quarter of play. But Rylan Frank scored the game-winning touchdown and two-point conversion to cap off Melba’s come-from-behind win. Frank rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns and had 57 yards receiving. Noah West-Baranco finished with 57 yards receiving, and caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Cutter Beus. Marsing’s Xon Fleary rushed for 116 yards, while Cache Hance added 39 yards and a touchdown. Jace Chadez also threw a touchdown pass to Mason Enochson, who caught three passes for 75 yards.
Declo 27, West Side 26
West Side (4-2) jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first half on three rushing touchdowns (two from Parker Moser, one from Colten Gundersen). But with less than 30 seconds to play in the first half, Declo (7-0) finally scored, as Will Garrard threw a jump ball to Gavin Rasmussen for a touchdown. That score was part of a 20-0 run by Declo to bring the Hornets back into the game, and tie things up at 20-20. Garrard threw touchdown passes to Rasmussen and Max Snedaker as part of the comeback. After Declo tied the game early in the fourth quarter, Moser broke off a 72-yard touchdown run to put the Pirates ahead 26-20. West Side went for the two-point conversion, and were denied, which would loom large. After Declo gave the ball back to the Pirates, West Side marched inside the Hornets’ ten-yard line and threatened to put the game away. But Declo’s defense held firm, and forced a turnover on downs. With new life, the Hornets scored with 2:08 to play, as Bode Backenbury scored on a five-yard run. Declo nailed the point-after kick, and the Hornets led, 27-26. Again, West Side drove inside the Hornets’ ten-yard line, and even had an extra down to try and score thanks to confusion from the officiating crew, but Declo swatted away West Side’s fifth down pass from the five-yard line with 30 seconds to play to secure the win.
Bear Lake 41, Malad 20
With only three playoff bids available from the South East Idaho Conference this year, Bear Lake (1-1 SEC, 3-3 overall) picked up a critical win over Malad (1-2, 4-4). Rhett Lloyd threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, and added 62 yards and a touchdown rushing. Toby Flake caught five passes for 86 yards and a TD, while Bryson Crane added 64 yards on six receptions with a score.
North Fremont 48, Aberdeen 12
In a matchup of top-five ranked teams, North Fremont (5-1) ran past Aberdeen (4-2) to the tune of 442 yards and six touchdowns, all on the ground. Karson Bohn rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns, while Andrew Martin added 140 yards and a TD. Aberdeen scored on a Junior Hernandez touchdown run, and a TD pass from Lupe Ortiz to Easton Beck.
West Jefferson 48, Sugar-Salem JV 14
West Jefferson (1-5) picked up their first win over the year against Sugar-Salem’s JV team. This game was originally supposed to be with Nuclear Conference rival Salmon, but the Savages canceled their season due to low player turnout, leaving an opening on the West J. schedule.
CLASS 1AD1
Kamiah 66, Troy 8
Kamiah (4-1 Whitepine League, 5-1 overall) remained tied for second place in the Whitepine standings with the win over Troy (1-4, 1-5). Colton Ocain rushed for three touchdowns in the win, and caught a TD pass from David Kludt. Kludt three three touchdowns in total (one to Ocain, two to Lawson Landmark), and added a rushing score.
Potlatch 60, Clearwater Valley 18
The Loggers (4-1 WPL, 5-1 overall) remained tied with Kamiah for second place in the standings by scoring 46 points in the first half on Friday night. Jack Clark returned from an injury, and led the Loggers with five total touchdowns (three rushing, two passing). Ben Johnson scored twice on the ground and once through the air, while Jay Marshall and Cooper Thompson scored a rushing and receiving TD, respectively. Jake Fabbi scored on a pair of touchdown runs for Clearwater Valley (1-4, 1-5) while Carson Schillling also scored on a TD run.
Prairie 54, Lapwai 44
Prairie (2-2 WPL, 3-2 overall) kept their playoff hopes alive with a narrow win that moved the Pirates ahead of Lapwai (2-3, 3-3) for sole possession of fourth place in the league. Dylan Uhlenkott rushed for 344 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while quarterback Noah Behler added 94 yards and two TDs rushing. Behler also threw for 163 yards and a touchdown to Levi Gehring, and Gehring also scored on a TD run.
Rimrock 64, Wilder 32
The Raiders (1-1 Western Idaho Conference, 2-5 overall) moved one step closer towards earning one of two playoff berths from the WIC this season with a solid win over Wilder (0-3, 0-6). Ronaldo Gomez threw for 195 yards and four touchdowns, rushed for 278 yards and five scores, and had six tackles on defense for Rimrock.
Murtaugh 72, Raft River 36
Murtaugh (3-1 Snake River Conference, 5-1 overall) assumed second place on their own, thanks to Lighthouse Christian’s loss to Valley. The Red Devils saw three different backs rush for over 100 yards; Jr Benites (154 yards, 2 TD), Eli Merrick (145 yards, 3 TD) and Brody Funk (119 yards, 1 TD). Additionally, quarterback Soyer Young rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 6-of-9 passes for 82 yards and a score to Sway Stanger. Raft River (1-4, 2-4) will almost certainly need to win their two remaining games to have a shot at the playoffs.
Valley 66, Lighthouse Christian 34
Valley (3-2 Snake River, 4-3 overall) exploded in the second quarter, turning a 16-14 deficit into a 44-22 halftime lead. Back-to-back turnovers from the Valley defense (an interception from Andrew Lukes and a fumble recovery from Irving Estrada) helped the Vikings score three unanswered touchdowns to take control of the game. Josh Hardy led the Valley offense with 344 total yards of offense and seven touchdowns (four rushing, three passing.) Justice Schrader threw five touchdown passes for Lighthouse Christian (2-2, 4-2). Johnny Millenkamp caught two TDs, while Case van Leeuwen, Collin Vanderham and Jack DeJong each caught one.
Glenns Ferry 34, Carey 32
Carey (1-3 Snake River, 1-5 overall) nearly stole a win on the road in Glenns Ferry with 12 points scored in the fourth quarter, but the Pilots (1-3, 2-4) held on for their first league win, throwing the standings into chaos in the process. Landon Stuart threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Aaron De Leon was the top receiver, hauling in six passes for 155 yards and a score, while also rushing for a touchdown. Landon Mills caught five balls for 75 yards and a TD, while Josiah Valencia led the ground game with 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Butte County 54, Challis 6
Butte County (1-0 High Desert Conference, 6-1 overall) won their league opener over Challis (0-2, 1-5), setting up a showdown with Grace for the conference title in two weeks. Keaton Archibald was 4-for-4 passing for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Westergard rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns on just two carries, while Razor Duke added 33 yards and a score on the ground. Duke and Westergard both caught touchdown passes as well.
CLASS 1AD2
Wallace 22, Lakeside 20
The Miners (1-3 North Star League, 3-3 overall) made the conference playoff picture quite blurry with a breakthrough win over Lakeside (2-2, 3-4), keeping its playoff hopes alive in the process. Henry Larson threw touchdown passes to Julain Davis and Wyatt Richie in the win, while also scoring on a QB sneak. Lakeside had a chance to rally late, as the Knights recovered an onside kick with just over a minute remaining. But the Wallace defense forced a turnover on downs, and ran out the clock from there to earn the win.
Shelby (MT) 59, Mullan/St. Regis 42
The Tigers (6-1) lost for the first time this year in a non-conference game played on Saturday in St. Regis, Montana. Kofi Appiah found the end zone three times for the Tigers, while John Pruitt scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the loss.
Kendrick 60, Timberline 0
This game was called at halftime, as mounting injuries to Timberline (0-2 Whitepine League, 1-5 overall) have derailed what was a promising season for the Spartans. As for Kendrick (2-0, 5-0), this win marked their 20th in a row. Ty Koepp threw five touchdowns in the win. Two went to Sawyer Hewett, while Hunter Taylor, Wyatt Fitzmorris and Lane Clemenhagen also caught TDs. Hewett, Clemehagen and Xavier Carpenter also scored rushing touchdowns.
Deary 30, Genesee 12
Genesee (0-6) took a 12-6 lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to a seven-yard touchdown reception from Teak Wareham and a 65-yard kickoff return TD for Harper Jarolimek. But Deary (4-2) outscored the Bulldogs 24-0 in the second half to earn the win. The Mustangs rushed for over 300 yards as a team, and Tucker Ashmead, Blaine Clark, TJ Beyer and Gunnar Rosen all scored rushing touchdowns. Ashmead also threw a TD pass to Nolan Hubbard.
Council 42, Cascade 0
Cascade (1-3 Long Pin Conference, 4-3 overall) opted to squib kick the opening kickoff in their conference game with Council (3-0, 4-3). Decker McLinn promptly returned it 53 yards for a touchdown, setting the tone for a Lumberjacks win. Dahlton Bingham rushed for two touchdowns and caught a third from Owen Hatfield. Hatfield also threw a touchdown pass to Garrison Zeilinski.
Garden Valley 57, Horseshoe Bend 42
The Wolverines (3-0 Long Pin, 6-1 overall) led 33-14 entering the fourth quarter, before Horseshoe Bend (1-2, 4-3) made things interesting late with a 28-point outburst in the fourth quarter. Trevor Corn rushed for 156 yards and six touchdowns in the victory, while Tacoma Kelly added 186 yards and a score. Kelly was 6-of-7 passing for 77 yards, and Max Yearsley caught four passes for 48 yards and had a 59-yard touchdown run. Corn led the defense with 18 tackles and a sack, while Yearsley added 15 tackles and Kelly came down with an interception.
Tri-Valley 62, Lewis County 56
In a chaotic ending, Tri-Valley (4-2) quarterback Jace Waggoner scored on a three-yard run as time expired, giving the Titans the walk-off win. Prior to the final play, the Titans tried to call for a timeout they didn’t have, and had to scramble to snap the ball before the clock ran out of time. Including the game-winner, Waggoner scored three rushing touchdowns, and also threw a TD pass to Toby Walker. Klaytin Harper rushed for four touchdowns, and Gage Warren found the end zone once on the ground. Gage Crow rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns for Lewis County (2-4), while Aidan McLeod threw two touchdowns to Noah Watson. McLeod also ran for a score.
Camas County 63, Shoshone 0
The Mushers (3-0 Sawtooth Conference, 5-1 overall) showcased their home run abilities in a win over Shoshone (0-3, 0-6). Tristen Smith was 3-for-3 passing for 61 yards and three touchdowns (two to Zack Pittock, one to Emmett Palan). Trevor Tews went 1-for-1 with a 56-yard touchdown pass to Palan. Troy Smith carried the ball twice for 59 yards and two TDs, while Sage Patten and Tyson Tupper also scored rushing touchdowns.
Hagerman 44, Castleford 0
Hagerman (2-1 Sawtooth, 5-2 overall) earned a critical win over Castleford (1-2, 2-4), keeping hold of one of the three playoff bids from the conference. The Pirates got the scoring started with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Wyatt Mavencamp to Ky Kendall, and the race was on from there. Hagerman finished with incredible balance, passing for 208 yards and rushing for 209.
Dietrich 52, Hansen 0
Dietrich (2-1 Sawtooth, 4-2 overall) remained in the third and final playoff position from the Sawtooth Conference with a shutout win over Hansen (1-2, 1-5). Conner Perkins threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while adding 50 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Perkins’ three touchdowns went to three different receivers; Chase Norman, Emmett Zimmers and Rhein Resz. Wyett Sneddon rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, as well.
Richfield 54, Hagerman JV 20
The Tigers (2-3) jumped out to a 32-6 lead after one quarter of play on their way to the Thursday night win over Hagerman’s JV squad. Freshman Jose Alvardo rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns on just four carries, while Justin Telford added 68 yards and a score. Jace Fuchs rushed for a touchdown, and Devin Scott threw a touchdown pass to Eli Brauberger, as well.
Rockland 59, Mackay 12
The Bulldogs (2-0 Rocky Mountain Conference, 5-2 overall) remained tied with North Gem atop the conference standings with the win over Mackay (0-2, 3-3). Teague Matthews passed for 117 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 108 yards and two scores.
North Gem 55, Clark County 7
In a game modified from eight-man to six-man football to accommodate Clark County’s (0-4) low numbers, North Gem (5-2), usually known for its rushing attack, used the opportunity to throw the ball around. Rusty Hatch went 7-of-11 for 166 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Craig Yost caught two TDs, while Jack Perry, Lukky Welker and Ryver Hayden all caught one. Hatch and Yost both scored rushing touchdowns, as well.
