ORDER GAME PHOTOS
It’s time for this week’s edition of Primetime Pitchers. Every Tuesday, we'll recap the five most dominating pitching performances from the past week of softball competition.
Why five? Because most pitching rotations carry five players.
I should note that these are single-game performances only. I don't have the math skills to pull off calculating weekly totals.
If you'd like to nominate an athlete for our Primetime Pitchers list, send an email to brandon@idahosports.com.
With that said, here's our list of Idaho softball's Primetime Pitchers, from the week of April 10th to April 15th. The performances will be listed in chronological order.
1. Miah Lusk, Jr, Pocatello
For the third time in four weeks, Pocatello’s junior hurler has made our list, this time for her performance on Monday, April 17th, in an 11-1 win over district rival Century. Lusk went the distance in the pitcher’s circle, allowing a lone run on just three hits. She also struck out 12 Diamondbacks and walked none.
2. Peyton Shook, Fr, Nampa Christian
Shook pitched a complete game shutout in a 16-0 Western Idaho Conference triumph over Melba on Monday, April 17th. Shook allowed one hit with one walk, and racked up 11 strikeouts in the win.
3. Dani Sitts, Jr, Homedale
Sitts nearly threw a perfect game against Parma in a 10-0 Snake River Valley Conference win on Monday, April 17th, but ultimately settled for a no-hitter. In seven innings of work, Sitts didn’t allow a single hit, nor did she walk any batters. The only thing standing between Sitts and a perfecto were two fielding errors. Sitts also finished with 15 strikeouts in the win.
4. Makinzie Nelson, So, Wood River
The sophomore tossed a no-hitter in a 14-0 shutout win over Minico on Friday, April 21st. Nelson struck out 12 Spartans, and a single walk was the only blemish on Nelson’s resume.
5. Jordyn Torgerson, Sr, West Jefferson
Another repeat performer in this space, the senior twirled a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a 6-0 non-conference win over Teton on Friday, April 21st.
