5A First Round | Meridian 51, Owyhee 48 (OT)
In a rematch of last season’s state semifinal, Meridian outscored Owyhee 10-7 over the extra period to avenge last year’s loss and snap the Storm’s 10-game winning streak on Thursday.
Ryan Baker led Meridian (17-15) with a game-high 28 points to earn Player of the Game honors. Josh Christensen added 10 points, while Nate Reynolds paced the team on the boards with seven.
Owyhee (19-6), which had its hopes of a championship repeat dashed, was led by Liam Campbell with 24 points and five rebounds.
5A First Round | Mountain View 40, Timberline 38
Logan Haustveit scored a bucket with 1.4 seconds remaining to help Mountain View stave off upset-minded Timberline 40-38 on Thursday in a clash of SIC foes.
Haustveit finished with seven points and garnered Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors for his clutch shot.
Mountain View (20-5) was led by Owen McBride and Dyson Judd with 10 and nine points, respectively.
Parker Gropp and Alex Ko each scored eight to lead Timberline (17-9).
5A First Round | Madison 48, Eagle 45
Berrett Wilson scored 21 points and snagged seven rebounds to lead Madison to a 48-45 win over Eagle and advance to the semifinals.
Wilson was named the Idaho Sports Player of the Game for his performance, which also included a blocked shot.
Nash Humpherys had 18 points and a pair of steals Madison (19-6), which made a five-point lead going into the fourth quarter stand up.
Eagle (16-10) was led by Russell Gibson and Landon White with 13 points each.
5A First Round | Lake City 62, Highland 25
Lake City held Highland to just three first-half points, including none in the opening quarter, as the Timberwolves cruised to a 62-25 victory and advance to the semifinals.
Blake Buchanan led Lake City (24-0) with a double-double—11 points and 10 rebounds—to earn Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors. Kolton Mitchell scored a game-high 12 points for Lake City.
Highland (14-13) was led by Garrett Campbell with seven points.
Lake City tied the Class 5A State Tournament record for fewest points allowed in a single game. The 2000 Pocatello Indians also allowed only 25 points in a win.
4A First Round | Pocatello 63, Bishop Kelly 41
Junior guard Julian Bowie scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Pocatello to a 63-41 win over Bishop Kelly on Thursday.
Bowie, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, hit six 3-pointers as the Thunder (24-2) never trailed in building a commanding 32-16 halftime lead.
Gage Ontiveros chipped in 12 points and pulled down six rebounds to go along with three blocked shots and two steals for Pocatello.
Rakeem Johnson led Bishop Kelly (14-10) with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Mason Suboh-Meu contributed seven points.
4A First Round | Blackfoot 54, Minico 46
Javonte King poured in a game-high 25 points to lead Blackfoot to a 54-46 win over Minico in a tight first-round game.
With the score knotted at 39 entering the fourth quarter, Blackfoot (16-8) outscored Minico 15-7 to advance to the semifinals against Pocatello.
King, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, was 10-of-12 shooting from inside the arc and snagged 13 rebounds as well.
Ryan Reynolds added 10 points for the Bears.
Ryker Stimpson scored 11 points to pace Blackfoot (15-10), while Brevin Trenkle and Carson Wayment added 10 points each.
4A First Round | Skyview 48, Twin Falls 28
Eloy Chaparro had 19 points and three steals to lead Skyview past Twin Falls on Thursday and into the semifinals against No. 1-seeded Hillcrest.
Chaparro, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, also had five rebounds to lead Skyview to go along with three assists.
Skyview (19-7) also got 12 points from Jonah Wockenfuss.
Logan Pittard scored 10 points to pace Twin Falls (15-10).
4A First Round | Hillcrest 78, Lakeland 38
Kobe Kessler scored 23 points to lead top-seeded Hillcrest to a 78-38 victory over Lakeland and advance to the semifinals on Thursday.
Kessler, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, was 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc.
Hillcrest (23-1) was also led by Isaac Davis and Talan Taylor with 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Ike Sutton added 11.
Scott Hocking scored 13 to pace Lakeland (6-17).
3A First Round | Sugar-Salem 57, Kimberly 42
Sugar-Salem won its 12th straight game as Zac Dougherty fired in 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Diggers past Kimberly 57-42 on Thursday.
The Diggers (21-3) also got 15 points from Christian Gordon.
Jakob Cummins and Broden Anthony scored 13 points apiece for Kimberly (9-15).
3A First Round | Teton 72, Fruitland 63 (OT)
Jarom Heuseveldt scored 19 points and snared five boards to lead Teton to a 72-63 overtime win over Fruitland on Thursday.
Teton (22-6) outscored Fruitland 15-6 in overtime to advance to the semifinals.
Tyson Brown added 14 points and Thomas Heuseveldt chipped in 13 points for Teton.
Heuseveldt, who was named the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, also added four assists in the win.
Eddie Rodriguez scored 21 points to lead Fruitland (14-11), while Tyler Capps contributed 13.
3A First Round | Snake River 64, Homedale 54
Keaton Kesler ignited a 14-4 run to start the fourth quarter to help Snake River fend off Homedale 64-54 on Thursday night and advance to the semifinals.
Snake River (18-6) nearly squandered a 17-point lead, allowing Homedale to get within 37-35 heading into the fourth quarter. But the Panthers took control and finished 14 of 14 from the freethrow line to clinch the victory.
Kesler, who was the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, hit a pair of threes as well. Luke Higginson and Marcus Coombs added 15 points apiece.
Sigmund Goode scored 15 points to lead Homedale (15-8), while Mason Strong and Jaxon Dines added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
3A First Round | Bonners Ferry 77, Buhl 58
Thomas Bateman registered 16 points and grabbed five rebounds to lift No. 1-seeded Bonners Ferry past Buhl 77-58 on Thursday.
Bateman earned Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors for Bonners Ferry (22-1), which only trailed for a couple of possessions before racing out to a 43-21 halftime lead.
Trey Bateman added 13 and Eli Blackmore chipped in with 12 for the Badgers.
Buhl (9-15), which outscored Bonners Ferry 25-16 in the fourth quarter to make the final score more respectable, was led by Tate Trevino with 14 points and Kyler Kelly and Dominic Robles Pierce with 12 each.
2A First Round | Bear Lake 54, West Side 41
Bryson Crane scored 22 points and snagged eight boards as Bear Lake broke open a close game in the fourth quarter, advancing to the semis with a 54-41 victory over West Side on Thursday.
Crane, who also had eight rebounds and a pair of assists, was tapped as the Idaho Sports Player of the Game.
Tayson Neal chipped in 13 points for Bear Lake (23-2).
West Side (13-15) was led by Garrett Robinson with 13 points off the bench, while Ivan Campbell added nine.
2A First Round | Kellogg 56, Cole Valley Christian 48
Kellogg rallied from a 3-point deficit entering the fourth quarter, erupting for 23 points as the Wildcats emerged with a 56-48 victory over Cole Valley on Thursday.
Riply Luna scored a game-high 20 points to earn Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors, while Kolby Luna added 15 for Kellogg (19-7).
Cole Valley (19-6) was led by Ben Beglinger and Eli Kingery with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
2A First Round | St. Maries 44, Ririe 41
Greyson Sands scored 22 points and dished out four assists to lead St. Maries to a 44-41 win over Ririe on Thursday to advance to the semifinals.
Sands’ performance earned him Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors for St. Maries (18-5), which emerged victorious after entering the fourth quarter deadlocked at 25.
Ethan Miller scored 12 points to lead Ririe (20-5), while Sterling Bybee added 10.
2A First Round | Melba 78, Declo 46
Braden Volkers racked up 22 points to go along with four steals as top-seeded Melba cruised to a 78-46 win over Declo on Thursday night.
Volkers was selected as the Idaho Sports Player of the Game for Melba (24-0), which blew the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Declo 21-7 over that stretch. Tucker Lowber added 21 points for the Mustangs.
Jacob Rasmussen scored 10 points to lead Declo (13-10).
1AD1 First Round | Grace 65, Victory Charter 50
Ty Gilbert scored 21 points Noah Palomares scored 19 points as the Grace Grizzlies broke open a tight game in the second quarter, outscoring Victory Charter 16-8 on its way to a 65-50 first-round win on Thursday.
The Grizzlies (21-4) also got 12 points from Dallon Draper and 11 points from Kai Clegg.
Victory Charter (20-5) was paced by Noah Palomares' 19 points and seven rebounds, while Muluken Knudsen added 14.
1AD1 First Round | Lakeside 66, Potlatch 44
Tyson Charley scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and had four assists to lead Lakeside past Potlatch 66-44 on Thursday.
Charley, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, and Lakeside (15-3) advance to the semifinals.
Liam Hendricks tallied 18 points to lead Lakeside in scoring, while Vander Brown and Brutis Sijohn scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Potlatch (18-7) was paced by Chase Lovell with 14 points and Everett Lovell with 12 points.
1AD1 First Round | Castleford 51, Carey 49 (OT)
Ethan Roland scored with 0.6 seconds remaining in overtime to help Castleford edge Carey 51-49 in overtime on Thursday night and move into the semifinals.
Roland, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, scored a game-high 18 points and added a blocked shot and steal for Castleford (17-5). Jayme Ramos added 14 points for the Wolves.
Carey (17-8), which entered the fourth quarter trailing by six before battling back to force overtime, was led by Conner Simpson with 14 points and Carson Perkes with 12.
1AD1 First Round | Lapwai 81, Liberty Charter 51
Kase Wynott scored 42 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead top-seeded Lapwai to an 81-51 win over Liberty Charter on Thursday night and into the semifinals.
Wynott, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, helped Lapwai (25-0) build a 41-22 halftime lead, one it never came close to relinquishing. Terrell Ellenwood added 17 for Lapwai, while Joseph Payne added 14 off the bench.
Liberty Charter (18-7) was paced by Luke Thomas with 17 points and Stephen Roskam with 12.
1AD2 First Round | Rockland 62, Timberline 33
Teague Matthews poured in 20 points to lead Rockland to a 62-33 victory over Timberline on Thursday and advance to the semifinals.
Matthews also had nine rebounds and two blocked shots to earn Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors.
Rockland (22-2) also got 14 points from Brigham Permann and 12 from Abraham Held.
Matthews, who also had nine rebounds, earned Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors.
Gavin Christopherson scored 11 points to lead Timberline (12-11), while Logan Hunter and Parker Brown each tallied 10.
1AD2 First Round | Kendrick 55, Cascade 51
Nathan Tweit scored 17 points as Kendrick survived Cascade 55-51 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals.
Tweit, who also added six rebounds, earned Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors.
Kendrick (18-3), which used a 16-6 third quarter to take control of the game, was also led by Ty Koepp with 10 points.
Cascade (16-7) was paced by Tyler Thurston with 22 points, while Samuel Huckaby contributed nine points and six rebounds.
1AD2 First Round | Watersprings 48, Council 42
Daniel Canfield scored 16 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, to lead Watersprings to a 48-42 victory over Council on Thursday night and punch the Warriors’ ticket for the semifinals.
Jrew Plocher, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, added 10 points, four assists and two steals for Watersprings (22-4). Jackson Aldinger also added 10 for the Warriors.
Council (18-6) was paced by Macen Glenn with 10 points and Porter McLinn with nine.
1AD2 First Round | Richfield 67, Clark Fork 38
Luke Dalton, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, scored 22 points to lead Richfield to a 67-38 victory over Clark Fork and advance to the semifinals.
Richfield (22-4) will face Watersprings, while Clark Fork (13-9) will play Council in the consolation bracket on Friday.
