5A First round | Rocky Mountain 55, Thunder Ridge 52 (OT)

Averee Osterhoust's 3-pointer with 25 seconds left in overtime proved to be the game winning shot for No. 7 Rocky Mountain in an opening-round win over No. 2 Thunder Ridge at the Ford Idaho Center.

The game featured 12 lead changes and neither team trailed by more than six points. Thunder Ridge senior and Idaho commit Aspen Caldwell scored off an inbounds pass with seven seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie the game 48-48 and prompt overtime. The Grizzlies outscored the Titans 7-4 in the extra period. Rocky Mountain shot 55.6 percent from the field for the game, including 63.2 percent in the first half, while Thunder Ridge shot 32.1 percent for the game.

Cianna Legaspi, the IdahoSports Player of the Game, had 14 points, six rebounds and two assists for the Grizzlies (17-8) while Anna Dabell had 12 points and three rebounds and Brielle Magnuson had 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Marley Spencer had a game-high 25 points, eight rebounds and three steals and was 7-of-13 from 3-point range while Caldwell had 14 points and six rebounds for Thunder Ridge (24-3).

5A First round | Timberline 59, Rigby 53

No. 6 Timberline shot 53.1 percent from the field in its opening-round game, including 66.7 percent in the second half, en route to defeating No. 3 Rigby at the Ford Idaho Center.

After trailing 25-21 at halftime, the Wolves poured in 38 points in the second half. Timberline also frequented the free-throw line, going 20-of-23.

Piper Davis, the IdahoSports Player of the Game, had 22 points (12-of-14 on free throws), four rebounds and four steals for Timberline (21-5) while Emmi Sillie added 13 points and six rebounds and Kailey Huegerich had 12 points, three rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

Rigby, which won the rebounding battle 35-24, got a combined 31 points from Kambree Barber and Mylee Graham. Barber had 16 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and five steals while Graham had 15 points for the Trojans (20-5).

5A First Round | Boise 59, Owyhee 47

Avery Howell had a double-double for No. 4 Boise in a win over No. 5 Owyhee.

Howell had a game-high 25 points (3-of-5 from 3-point range), 18 rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Brave (22-2), who shot 43.2 percent for the game. Avery Patricco added 13 points and Kaity Haan had 12 points and four rebounds.

Riley Beck had 20 points and five rebounds for second-year program Owyhee (19-5), which scored 22 points in the fourth quarter. Mikale Roy added 12 points and six rebounds.

5A First Round | Coeur d'Alene 63, Eagle 50

No. 1 Coeur d'Alene endured six lead changes and scored 28 points in the fourth quarter to overcome halftime and third quarter deficits in a win over No. 8 Eagle.

The Vikings, who trailed by 10 points in the third quarter, got a combined 47 points on the night from Teagan Colvin and Madison Symons. Both were named IdahoSports Players of the Game. Colvin had 23 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals while Symons had 24 points,15 rebounds, four assists and two steals for Coeur d'Alene (22-2). The Vikings shot 48 percent from the field for the game, including 73.7 percent in the second half.

Paige Cofer had 28 points and six rebounds for Eagle (14-13), which shot 47.2 percent from the field for the game.

4A First round | Columbia 51, Blackfoot 45

A combined 42 points from Mylie Mills and Jada Myers helped No. 7 Columbia take down No. 2 Blackfoot to begin the 4A state tournament at Timberline High School.

Mills, the Idaho Sports Player of the Game, had 26 points and eight rebounds while Myers added 16 points and four rebounds for the Wildcats (15-10), who led by as much as 15 points. Columbia shot 52.4 percent from the field for the game, including 60 percent in the second half, and scored 15 points off turnovers.

Marlee Pieper had 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and four blocks for Blackfoot (13-10) while Esperanza Vergara added 13 points, three assists and three steals. The Broncos, who trailed 21-16 at halftime and 35-27 after three quarters, shot 32.6 percent from the field for the game.

4A First round | Sandpoint 54, Minico 49

No. 3 Sandpoint held off a rally from No. 6 Minico to begin the 4A state tournament with a win at Timberline High School.

Minico trailed 27-14 at halftime and by 19 points in the third quarter before cutting the deficit to three points with 7.2 seconds left in regulation.

While Minico shot 40 percent from the field to Sandpoint's 32.1 percent, Minico turned the ball over 17 times (Sandpoint had seven turnovers) and Sandpoint scored 16 points off turnovers.

Aliya Strock, the IdahoSports Player of the Game, had 20 points and seven steals for Sandpoint (18-5) while Karlie Banks had 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks and Kelsey Cessna had 11 points.

Carlie Latta had a game-high 34 points (4-for-8 from 3 and 8-of-8 on free throws), four rebounds,16 three assists two blocks and two steals for Minico (16-7).

4A First Round | Bishop Kelly 51, Pocatello 33

No. 5 Bishop Kelly turned a 17-16 halftime lead into an opening-round win over No. 4 Pocatello.

The Knights (21-3) scored 34 points and shot 50 percent from the field in the second half.

Bishop Kelly had nine players score. IdahoSports Player of the Game Addy Laible had seven points and seven rebounds, Caroline Knothe had nine points and four rebounds and Brooke Hutchinson had eight points.

Liv Marshall had seven points to lead Pocatello (15-7).

4A First Round | Shelley 59, Twin Falls 35

No. 1 Shelley got points from nine players and built a lead as large as 38 points to begin its first state basketball tournament appearance as a 4A school in a win over No. 8 Twin Falls. 

The Russets scored 22 points in the first quarter en route to a 34-11 halftime lead.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Hallie Behunin had 11 points and was 3-of-5 from 3-point range for Shelley (21-3).

Halle Egbert had 10 points and six rebounds for Twin Falls (12-13).

3A First round | Timberlake 61, Filer 42

Timberlake freshman Malia Miller made her state tournament debut with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and five steals to earn IdahoSports Player of the Game in an opening-round win over No. 7 Filer at Skyview High School.

After taking a 19-13 halftime lead, No. 2 Timberlake poured in 42 points in the second half, including a 25-point effort in the fourth quarter. The Tigers (21-2) shot 38.7 percent from the field for the game, scored 20 points off turnovers and made nine 3-pointers. Filer had 24 turnovers to Timberlake's 10. Ciera Soumas, Timberlake's lone senior, had 11 points, three rebounds, six assists and three steals while Jenna Chase had 11 points.

Josalyn Bailey had 10 points, two assists and two steals while Alli Bishop had nine points and nine rebounds for Filer (15-10), which shot 40 percent from the field.

3A First round | Teton 62, Parma 40

No. 6 Teton built on a 37-16 halftime lead en route to an opening-round win over No. 3 Parma.

The Timberwolves shot 53.6 percent from the field in the first half and 48.1 percent for the game, getting four players with double-figure scoring and a double-double from IdahoSports Player of the Game Porter Wood. Teton also outrebounded Parma 36-27.

Wood had 12 points, 12 rebounds two assists and three steals for Teton (18-9) while Abi Barkdull had 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, Morgan Johnson had 12 points and Grace Hogan had 12 points, four rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Sidney Jackson had 13 points to lead Parma (20-4).

3A First Round | Sugar-Salem 52, Weiser 39

No. 4 Sugar-Salem bounced back from a first-quarter deficit to begin the 3A state tournament with a win over No. 5 Weiser.

The Diggers (16-6) endured six lead changes and outrebounded the Wolverines 36-31.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Kennedy Gillette scored a game-high 24 points and had eight rebounds for Sugar-Salem while Ashlyn Harris added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Brady Reed had 11 points and Mattie Shirts added 10 points and nine rebounds for Weiser (21-4).

3A First Round | Snake River 67, Buhl 18

No. 1 Snake River had 11 players score and built a lead as large as 51 points in a win over No. 8 Buhl.

The Panthers (21-3) shot 52.4 percent from the field for the game, outrebounded Buhl 43-22 and led 39-10 at halftime.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Reese Baldwin had nine points,eight rebounds, five steals, three assists and one block for Snake River.

Justine Payne had five points to lead Buhl (10-15).

2A First Round | Soda Springs 47, Ambrose 27

No. 2 Soda Springs shot a blistering 79.4 from the field en route to an opening-round win over No. 7 Ambrose at Bishop Kelly High School.

The Cardinals made 27 of their 34 attempted field goals, led 36-11 at halftime, 56-17 after three and turned the ball over one time the entire game.

Zippy Somsen, the IdahoSports Player of the Game, had 14 points for Soda Springs (21-4) while Taylor Billman had 13 points, Abby Goodin had 12 points and Alexa Moldenhauer had 10 points and three steals.

Ellie Thorne had 13 points and was 4-of-7 from 3 for Ambrose (17-10).

2A First Round | Cole Valley Christian 54, Grangeville 50

No. 3 Cole Valley Christian held off No. 6 Grangeville for an opening-round win in a game that had 10 lead changes and deficits of no more than seven points.

The Chargers, who led 23-21 at halftime, edged the Bulldogs 31-29 in the second half. Grangeville won the rebounding battle 31-24 and outshot Cole Valley from the field for the game (51.4 percent to 40.5), but the Chargers shot 50 percent in the second half and also made 10-of-16 free throws.

Trinity Holsinger, the IdahoSports Player of the Game, had 19 points (4-of-6 from 3) and five rebounds for the Chargers (19-5) while Hadley Fraas had 12 points.

Madalyn Green had 14 points, five rebounds and two assists for Grangeville (15-9) while Mattie Thacker had 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, Addisyn Vanderwall had 11 points and five rebounds and

Caryss Barger had 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

2A First Round | West Side 48, Ririe 44 (OT)

No. 5 West Side edged No. 4 Ririe in overtime in a clash of eastern Idaho teams.

The Pirates trailed 25-15 at halftime but flipped the script by outscoring the Bulldogs 24-14 in the second half, which ended with the score tied 39-39 to force overtime. The game had 46 total fouls called and the teams combined for 91 rebounds.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Aubrie Barzee had 13 points and nine rebounds for West Side (17-8) while Tommi Henderson added 10 points and five rebounds.

Madi Andreason had a game-high 20 points and seven rebounds for Ririe (18-7).

2A First Round | Melba 58, Declo 31

No. 1 Melba built a lead as large as 29 points and kept its undefeated season going with a win over No. 8 Declo. 

IdahoSports Player of the Game Kendall Clark had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs (24-0), who scored 21 points off 24 Declo turnovers and led 32-20 at halftime.

Brooklynn Dayley added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals while Hallie
Arnold had 12 points.

Brynn Silcock had 12 points and eight rebounds for Declo (10-13) while Aspen Peterson added 10 points.

1AD1 First Round | Prairie 67, Greenleaf 23

No. 2 Prairie scored 43 points in the second half en route to a win over No. 7 Greenleaf to begin the 1D1 state tournament at Columbia High School.

Prairie had 48 total rebounds in the win and scored 24 points off of 30 Greenleaf turnovers.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Tara Schlader had a double-double of 22 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and seven steals for Prairie (20-5) while Kristin Wemhoff added 13 points, five assists and three steals.

Shae Olsen led Greenleaf (17-5) with eight points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

1AD1 First Round | Raft River 70, Liberty Charter 38

No. 3 Raft River led by as much as 34 points en route to a win over No. 6 Liberty Charter.

In a game that featured a combined 87 rebounds, the Trojans scored 16 points off 26 Liberty Charter turnovers. Raft River scored 37 points in the second half.

Reagan Jones had 15 points, nine rebounds and eight steals to earn IdahoSports Player of the Game for Raft River (22-3) while Jessi Knudsen added 15 points (5-of-9 from 3), four assists and two steals and Caroline Schumann had 13 points eight rebounds and four assists.

Addison Bayne had 18 points and eight rebounds for Liberty Charter (14-7) while Casey Collom had 10 points and four rebounds.

1AD1 First Round | Oakley 32, Grace 28 (OT)

No. 5 Oakley edged No. 4 Grace in overtime in a game where neither team finished with a high percentage of made field goals.

Oakley shot 20.5 percent to Grace's 18.2 percent, and the teams combined for 32 turnovers and 91 rebounds.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Bentley Cranney had 12 points (seven in overtime) and six rebounds for Oakley (20-4).

Jacie Christensen had 15 points to lead Grace (19-5).

1AD1 First Round | Lapwai 69, Lakeside 9

No. 1 Lapwai led 41-5 at halftime and began its state title defense with a comanding win.

The Wildcats scored 32 points off 30 Lakeside turnovers and shot 48.3 percent from the field for the game, including 56.7 percent in the first half.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Jaelyn McCormack-Marks, a freshman, had 14 points, seven rebounds and seven steals for Lapwai (24-1) while Jordyn McCormark-Marks had 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals and Lauren Gould added 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and seven steals.

Kiona Allen had three points to lead Lakeside.

1AD2 First Round | Rockland 57, Garden Valley 31

No. 2 Rockland grabbed 50 rebounds and an opening-round win over No. 7 Garden Valley  to start the 1AD2 state tournament at Nampa High School.

The Bulldogs led 30-16 at halftime and 46-24 after three quarters.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Autumn Farr had 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Rockland (21-3) while Taylie Boyer had 15 points and Taylor Wilson had 10 points.

Gracie Castillo had 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals for Garden Valley (10-8).

1AD2 First Round | Council 56, Kendrick 41

No. 6 Council scored 34 points in the second half en route to a win over No. 3 Kendrick.

The Lumberjacks (15-5) got double-figure scoring from three players and outrebounded the Tigers 45-37 in the victory. Council made 44.2 percent of shots from the field to Kendrick's 26.6.

IdahoSports Player of the Game Rhianna Iveson had 15 points, three rebounds and four assists while Ava Eppich had 15 points and eight rebounds and McKayla Hart had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Rose Stewart had 11 points, seven rebounds and five steals for Kendrick (16-5) while Ruby Stewart added 10 points, five rebounds and two assists.

1AD2 First round | Dietrich 63, Leadore 49

No. 4 Dietrich got a combined 42 points from Hailey Astle and Aleigha Robertson in a win over No. 5 Leadore.

Astle and Robertson both received IdahoSports Players of the Game and combined to go 7-of-10 from 3-point range for the Blue Devils, who scored 18 points off 21 Leadore turnovers.

Astle had 21 points (3-of-6 from 3), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals while Robertson had 21 points (4-of-4 from 3), four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Abby Hendricks added 10 points and three steals.

Mackenzie Mackay had 20 points, Sadie Bird had 14 points, 14 rebounds and four assists and Lexi Bird had 12 points and nine rebounds for Leadore (19-5).

1AD2 First round | Deary 42, Clark Fork 20

No. 1 Deary held No. 8 Clark Fork to single-digit scoring in every quarter to begin the 1AD2 state tournament with a win.

The Mustangs (17-2) scored 22 points off 26 turnovers by the Wampus Cats (7-13).

Araya Wood had 13 points, six rebounds and three steals for Deary to receive IdahoSports Player of the Game while Kenadie Kirk added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Emily Myers had seven points to lead Clark Fork.
