Boys basketball district tournament play really started to heat up last night, as every district not located in north Idaho featured postseason action of some kind.

The top four seeds (Mountain View, Owyhee, Meridian and Timberline) all advanced in the 5A District 3 tournament, while all of the top seeded teams at the 4A District 4 and 4A District 6 tournaments advanced.  

As for the 2A and 1A action?  Well, there were upsets galore.

At the 2A District 5 tournament, third-seeded West Side knocked off second-seeded Aberdeen in overtime, 76-67.  The Pirates will now face top-seeded Bear Lake in the undefeated semfiinal game.

In 2A District 6 action, fourth-seeded North Fremont slipped past third-seeded West Jefferson 61-55.  That sets up a semifinal showdown between the Huskies and second-seeded Firth.

And only one higher-seeded team survived during the 1AD1 District 3 opening round of play-in games.  Sixth-seeded Riverstone beat 11th-seeded Greenleaf Friends 69-40, but tenth-seeded Centennial Baptist won 44-39 at seventh-seeded Idaho City, and ninth-seeded Wilder defeated eighth-seeded Gem State 48-45.

Ultimately, these upsets don't impact our Bracketology projections.  But if these upstart underdogs can continue their strong play, our projected brackets could change in a hurry.
