Congratulations to all teams who made it to the state tournament and we hope you know what an honor it is to make it that far! We hope that all athletes remember to always acknowledge the progression! We have loved watching all of the progression we saw from all levels and the amazing matchups that took place throughout the season!
CLASS 5A
Set after set, Madison showed their experience and heart, as the Bobcats are the new Idaho 5A state volleyball champions! Congratulations!! Madison stayed calm, cool, collected and confident through it all and looked ready for any fight! We love to see a team that is prepared in all aspects of the game. Madi Wilcox and her experienced teammates only dropped one set the entire weekend and it was amazing to watch their perseverance and effort no matter the circumstance!
The Idaho 5A state volleyball runner-up this year is Timberline, and this is no small feat! Congratulations to the Wolves as we watched you battle through some tough four- and five-set matches. They also defeated a team they lost to earlier in the tournament (Post Falls), which is another hard battle. Timberline came back around the bracket to the championship which is a huge accomplishment in itself!
Post Falls is the 5A volleyball third place trophy winner. They battled both Madison and Timberline closely this weekend and proved their grit!
CLASS 4A
Skyview is now a back-to-back state volleyball champion, and the feat was accomplished at different divisions (5A last year, 4A this year.) It seems the division didn't matter to this team but this squad seems to be ready for bigger things as many players are moving on to the next level at college!
Congratulations to the new Idaho 4A state champions, led by a pair of Alexes. Alex Acevedo and Alex Bower led the way, keeping standings high and leading by action. This dynamic duo helped the Skyview program maintain their dynasty status! This team lost just one set during the tournament and held a high point difference percentage overall. They were able to stay steady and ready!
Columbia is the Idaho 4A state volleyball runner-up. Congratulations to the Wildcats as they lost early and to play so many matches to earn their way to the championship. Columbia played six matches overall - that's a lot of reps and emotions! They played tight matches with several opponents but found a way to win and earn their spot in the championship.
Century is the new Idaho 4A state volleyball third place winner. Century battled right from the beginning in a five-set match against Canyon Ridge, and the Diamondbacks came out on top. Then they battled Moscow and earned their way into the semifinal match. Qualifying for the semifinal guarantees a top three finish. This is a huge accomplishment, as Century was seeded #7 going into state based on season records and previous losses. Century battled against Skyview in the semifinal and Columbia in the third place match, and Adee Butler led her team in many aspects to finish third. Congratulations!
CLASS 3A
Kimberly is the Idaho 3A state volleyball champion! They are celebrating many firsts as this is the first time in school history that the Bulldogs have won a state volleyball title! Volleyball is a true team sport as it takes players executing every role on the court and Kimberly understood this, led by Kelsey Stanger and company.
Overall, commendations and compliments to the Bulldogs as they played very well-rounded volleyball. They had a tight five-set nail-biter with Fruitland in the semifinal match and they prevailed! They went on to play Fruitland again in the championship match and earned the title!
Acclamation and applause are in order for Fruitland as well, as they are the Idaho 3A volleyball state runner-up! They battled Kimberly twice and showed their endurance as they played in many sets to get to the championship. Kudos to their perseverance and dedication to get to the championship!
Weiser earned the Idaho 3A volleyball third place trophy and they played consistently throughout the entire tournament. They battled their way back after a tough loss to Fruitland early on in the tournament. After a loss it is always hard to pull emotions together quickly and turn right around and play again, but it's something that happens every state tournament. Weiser was able to do it this time around, climbing their way back to the third place match!
CLASS 2A
Shoutout to the Melba Mustangs as they are the Idaho 2A state volleyball champions! They switched places with West Side this year as they both met in the championship match last year as well, with the Pirates emerging victorious. The 2A division had the most sets played overall by far as there were six different five-set matches and four different four-set matches, which tells us that this division was closely matched! Melba's seven seniors led the way with experience and they didn't lose a match during those hard fought battles! Amazing job girls!
The defending champs from West Side are now the Idaho 2A volleyball state runner-up. These girls battled through the back side of the bracket as they lost their first match to district rival Malad in a five-set thriller. They faced many tough matchups along the way but earned their way to the championship. Acclamation and applause for another great team!
Ririe is the 2A state volleyball third place trophy winner. These girls battled through long matches to earn their way to the semifinal match. The went to five against Melba early Saturday and then went to five again with West Side! These ladies showed their passion and heart throughout all of their matches and they left it all out there! Congratulations!
CLASS 1AD1
Amazing season and finish by the Troy Trojans! They are the 1AD1 back-to-back state volleyball champions! In the semifinal match against Murtaugh, they went five sets and ended the fifth set with a 15-13 win! This close clash helped Troy persevere to the end and win it all. This younger team was led by setter Olivia Tyler, and the Trojans will be back for more as they don't lose a single senior this year and carry many juniors and sophomores!
Genesee is this year's Idaho 1AD1 volleyball state runner-up and they are another embattled team who fought Murtaugh twice to get to the championship. Genesee won the five-set semifinal that ended in a two point win (16 to 14). Kudos to this young team who will certainly be back at state next year!
Murtaugh is the 1AD1 third place team. Congratulations! The Red Devils were led by Ashlee Stanger. Stanger led the way in kills and her well-rounded skill set helped her team get to the third place match! They endured many challenges including going to five sets against both the first and second place finishers!
CLASS 1AD2
Congratulations to the 1AD2 volleyball state champions: the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs! They are back-to-back state champions! All of the Mustangs understood their roles and every player contributed to the team's success. This well-rounded team was led by Annalie Wilson and Aliyah Meyer as they connection was staggering. They found each other in every rotation of the court. The Mustangs never lost a set in the tournament and showed their poise and experience in all matches. They are another team that will be back as they don't lose a single player this year, as their juniors and sophomores are sure to progress!
The Rockland Bulldogs are the 1AD2 volleyball state runner-ups! Great season girls! These girls battled Horseshoe Bend in the semifinal and championship matches, and provided the toughest and closest competition against the Mustangs during the tournament. Addie and Taylor Wilson led the way with their balanced skill set; serving, passing and swinging from all angles. The Bulldogs are back-to-back state runners-up and have younger players who will be back for more in the upcoming years as well!
Council is the 1AD2 third place winner! Great team wins throughout the tournament for the Lumberjacks! They have a young tam that was anchored by senior Isabelle Eppich in the middle. She had numerous high-kill games during the tournament. The Lumberjacks found their way back after an earlyh loss to Rockland to reach the semifinal match.
