CLASS 5A

The 5A State Tournament will take place this Friday and Saturday at Skyline High School in Idaho Falls.

Madison won the District 5-6 championship against Thunder Ridge.  The Bobcats will be a team to watch this weekend as they've remained at the top of the 5A classification the entire season.  Despite the loss, Thunder Ridge still earned their way to the state tournament by winning a play-in game against Mountain View.

Eagle won the District 3 championship over Timberline.  Eagle is another strong team and they head into the state tournament as the top seed.  Timberline's season isn't over, though, as they earned their way to state as well.  Joining the Mustangs and Wolves from District 3 at state are Owyhee and Boise.

Post Falls and Lake City battled up north for the District 1-2 title, and the Trojans earned the win.  Lake City also punched their ticket to state by defeating Centennial in a play-in game.

CLASS 4A

The 4A State Tournament will take place at Thunder Ridge High School in Idaho Falls this Friday and Saturday.

Century defeated Preston on Tuesday and Pocatello on Thursday for the District 5 championship.

In District 4, Canyon Ridge faced Wood River for the district title.  The Riverhawks remained at the top of the district with the championship win.  After the loss, Wood River had to face defending 4A champion Twin Falls for the right to advance to state, and the Bruins got the bid.

Bonneville earned another District 6 title, adding to an ever-increasing trophy case.  The Bees are no stranger to the state tournament, but Blackfoot is the underdog story that many were hoping for.  The Broncos are going to state for the first time in 40 years!  Blackfoot earned their way to state with a monumental win over Idaho Falls at districts, which ensured them a top two finish and a spot at state.

Skyview defeated Columbia in the District 3 title match, but yet again, the second place finisher (Columbia) earned their way to state.  Skyview remains number one overall not just at the 4A level, but for the entire state of Idaho.  They are a must watch team this weekend!

The Inland Empire League (District 1-2) was a tighter contest than most, but it was Moscow who came out on top with wins over both Sandpoint and Lakeland.

CLASS 3A

The 3A State Tournament will be held at Hillcrest High School in Ammon this Friday and Saturday.

In District 1, Bonners Ferry defeated Timberlake for their state ticket.

South Fremont came from behind and defeated Sugar-Salem in the District 6 title match.  The Cougars are going to state after defeating the Diggers (the defending district and 3A state champs).  Sugar-Salem will not be able to defend their title, as the Diggers dropped a play-in match against McCall-Donnelly.

Kimberly is the top team in the 3A classification and on their way to state as well.  They remain number one in the power rankings for 3A volleyball!

Fruitland (District 3) and Snake River (District 5) are both district champions headed to state.  Both are very familiar with attending the state tournament and both sport impressive records on the season.

CLASS 2A

The 2A State Tournament will be held at Shelley High School.

Declo won the District 4 title and are headed back to state.

St. Maries won the CIL (Central Idaho League) and will represent District 2.

The Ririe Bulldogs are the back-to-back District 6 champs and will join the others at state as well.

Declo, St. Maries and Ririe are all familiar with earning state bids and are excited to continue the tradition!

West Side and Malad battled for the District 5 title on Thursday.  After being swept by Malad in the regular season, West Side pulled through with the win at districts.  These two powerful teams have gone back and forth a lot this season and although it doesn't happen often, they will face off yet again for their first match of the state tournament on Friday.

Meanwhile, Melba is coming in hot with an undefeated record and the number one ranking throughout the season in 2A volleyball.  The champions of District 3, the Mustangs will be another powerful team to watch this weekend!

Also representing District 3 is Nampa Christian, as they defeated Kellogg in a play-in game to keep their season alive and move forward to state.

CLASS 1AD1

Murtaugh and Oakley had quite the battle for the District 4 title, and the Red Devils emerged with the win.  Oakley qualified for state as well and both teams have battled to remain near the top of the 1AD1 power rankings all year.

Troy is the number one seed headed into the state tournament.  They are just above Murtaugh and Oakley in the power rankings as they have just one loss on the season to an out-of-conference foe.    Troy won District 2 over Genesee, but the Bulldogs will continue to fight as they also punched their ticket to state.

Wallace claimed District 1 as they defeated Lakeside for the title.  Lakeside had scored a stunning upset over Genesis Prep in the first round of district play, but their Cinderella run ended against the Miners.

Liberty Charter and Rimrock battled for the District 3 championship.  Although the Patriots lost to Rimrock earlier in the season, Liberty won the district title.  Look out for both teams this weekend!

Grace won District 5-6 over Butte County.  That earned them a state play-in game and they defeated Victory Charter on Saturday to earn their spot at state.

CLASS 1AD2

Clark Fork won District 1 and is headed to state.

Kendrick and Deary battled for the District 2 title and Kendrick won in four sets.  Catch them both in action this weekend, though, as they both earned a spot in the state tournament!

Horseshoe Bend won their district championship over Council.  The Mustangs are another team to watch this weekend as they come from a small population but boast powerful athletes!  They are number one in the power rankings and remain steady.  Council took second in District 3 and also punched their ticket to state.

Richfield won the District 4 championship over Dietrich in a clean sweep and earned their way to state.

And in the most difficult district in 1AD2 volleyball (District 5-6), Rockland emerged victorious.  The Rocky Mountain Conference featured nine teams who battled it out last week.  Rockland defeated Mackay in the district title game, and their win continued to prove how the Bulldogs are another powerhouse to watch this weekend.

The Mackay Miners also earned a spot to state as they defeated a talented Leadore team for the second seed out of the district.

There is lots of talent, potential and hard work going in to this week as everyone prepares for state.  It's definitely worth keeping an eye on!  It all comes down to this...state volleyball time!  Enjoy the competition this weekend and once again, best of luck to all teams competing!
