The Big Deal of the Week (Abbey Corgatelli, Idaho Falls)
IdahoSports.com's Weekly Feature introduces you to athletes around the state
Published: 1/27/2022 2:43:47 PM

Name: Abigail Corgatelli
School: Idaho Falls
Grade: Senior
GPA: 4.0 (4.138 weighted)
Sports: Cross Country, Basketball, Track
Positions: Guard, 1600 meter run, 800 meter run, 400 meter dash, 4x400 relay, 4x800 relay
Other Hobbies: Outdoor activities like hiking and backpacking with my family.  And hanging out with friends.

Do you have a nickname? Is so, how did you get it?

I usually just go by Abbey, but lots of people call me Abs.  It's definitely not because of my rock solid abs though....because those don't exist.

What is the best thing you have learned from playing sports in high school?

I have learned so much from different coaches and teammates.  But I think some of the most impactful things are: the importance of team unity, to keep striving for your goals and not to give up, and work ethic and dedication.

Favorite high school memory so far?

Winning state for the first time in school history for girls cross country in 2019.

Who is your favorite teacher? And why?

My mom.  I've been home schooled my whole life so she has put so much time and energy into giving me a good education.

What kind of car gets you around town?

Jeep

You have an entire weekend with no plans.  What do you do?

Go camping with friends

What is something most people don't know about you?

I own two bunnies

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college?

I will most likely be going to the University of Idaho in Moscow

When you "grow up", what is your idea of the perfect job?

May not be my "dream job" but I am planning on pursuing finance and becoming a personal financial counselor.

100 years from now, when your name is mentioned, how do you want to be remembered?

I would want to be remembered as someone who was kind and accepting to others and a true friend.

Shout out: Feel free to give a personal shout out to anyone you want (family, friend, teacher, whomever.)

Firstly, I would like to thank my parents, because they have provided me with the opportunity to participate in sports, starting at a young age, and they are always supportive of me no matter what.

Secondly, I would mention my brother Isaac, who has been my best friend and spent countless hours in the driveway playing basketball and gone on so many runs with me.

I would also like to thank my coaches: coach McMurty, coach Enos, and coach Seeley for all that they've taught me and for always supporting me.
