The Eagle Lady Mustangs return four girls from last year’s team that went 18-8, and knocked off 5A Southern Idaho Conference foe, Centennial, to take the consolation prize at the state tournament last season. Coach Cody Pickett returns for the Mustangs, entering his third year as head coach.

All four girls returning this season were members of the three all-conference teams. Returning for the Eagles are second team All-SIC junior guard, Cassidy Tiegs, honorable mention All-SIC senior post, Jenny Stevens, honorable mention All-SIC junior guard, Abby Mangum, and honorable mention All-SIC sophomore post, Kate Murray. Stevens continues to develop her game and improved both inside and outside offensively last season and Tiegs is headed into her third year as the starting point guard for the Eagles.

Their success, experience, and development individually and as a team last year should serve them well heading into the 2015-16 season.

Offense:
Before last season, Coach Pickett has had a great deal of success turning teams around, and he seems he is well on his way with this Lady Eagles group. Coach Pickett’s team has two years of experience under his system, and it seemed the team was clicking the second half of the 2014-15 season. Offensively, they plan to use their guards and posts to give teams a one-two punch from the inside and outside.

Defense:
With the balanced line-up Eagle plays with they will have the ability to guard most teams any given night. The Mustangs toughness, depth, and experience should help them dictate the pace of the game and pressure teams in playing their way.

Wrap-Up:
One big goal for the Lady Mustangs this season is to make it back to the state tournament, but be on the right side of the bracket this year. Eagle should be one of the top teams in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference to qualify for state again this season, but the challenge will be staying focused and healthy throughout the year.

GAME(S) TO WATCH: Eagle will be part of the TimberLion Tournament this season along with a few other Boise area teams, such as Bishop Kelly, Timberline, Rocky Mountain, and Borah. They will play three games in three nights December 17-19, 2015. They will play teams from all around the state and should be an exciting tournament to attend. Games will be played at Timberline and Borah High Schools.
