Team Preview

Tritten by: Ty Hawkins

This will be Head Coach Shari Dodge’s first year at Victory Charter of the 1A Western Idaho Conference. Dodge is excited to work with a group of girls that enjoy working together as a team, as well as doing team building activities. “This team has a lot of potential and desire to win,” Dodge said.

Leading the Vipers this season will be five-foot-seven senior wing Makenzie Raptosh, who is a four-year letter winner, and was a second team all-conference performer as a junior and a sophomore.

“Makenzie will be moving from point guard to wing, and she is the strongest offensive player on the team,” said Dodge. “She is the team captain and she has developed as a player and a leader.”

Five-foot-four sophomore Kassidy Martineau will also be an impact player to watch for.

Like a lot of coaches, Dodge has concerns, but one that particularly that has been on her mind is how her team will respond when it’s game time “They practice hard and respond to suggestions but how that equates to game time is a question I will be able to answer next week,” Dodge said.

The Vipers are young, but Dodge is impressed with the team so far as they adjust to the speed of the high school game, and defensively Coach Dodge wants to be more proficient in the full court press.

“Our younger players are strong defensive players given their lack of high school basketball experience,” Dodge said.
