LAPWAI 65, CHALLIS 40:  The Wildcats shot out of the gates to a 25-3 lead, eventually ballooning the lead to 30 by halftime before coasting to a win in the 1A Division 1 semifinal game on Friday night.

The Wildcats shot 55 percent from the field in the first half to run away from the Vikings, allowing Lapwai to get additional rest for many of its key players in the second half.

Micah Bisbee led Lapwai with 11 points, leading a balanced attack that also got ten points from Iris Domebo and Koyama Young.  Tara Chamberlain and Shayanne Bradshaw each tallied eight points for Challis, who played much better in the second half after the rough start.

Lapwai turned 33 Challis turnovers into 28 points at the offensive end and also knocked down 8 of 23 three-point shots in the win.

PRAIRIE 64, GENESEE 52:  Prairie had to overcome a slow start and a stubborn opponent but eventually took control in the second half, beating White Pine rival Genesee to advance to the 1A Division 1 championship game on Saturday.  There, the Pirates will meet another White Pine foe, Lapwai, in a battle for the title trophy.

Genesee led, 12-6, after one quarter but the Pirates exploded for 23 points in the second quarter and 22 more in the third to seize control.  The Bulldogs didn't roll over, though, and kept the game interesting into the fourth quarter.

Senior Shayla Vonbargen led Prairie with 20 points and nine rebounds in the win.  Chaye Uptmor (13) and Talyss Lustig (11) also contributed double-digit scoring for the Pirates.  Kaleigh Ranisate scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Genesee, who only attempted six free throws in the game compared to 41 for Prairie.

Genesee will face Challis in the third-place game Saturday morning.

SHOSHONE 39, NOTUS 32 (OT):  Shoshone recovered from a scoreless first quarter to defeat Notus in overtime to advance to the 1A Division I Consolation final in the IHSAA Girls State Basketball tournament.

The game was tied, 29-29, with two minutes to go in regulation.  Notus ran nearly a minute off the clock before missing a shot.  Shoshone had two shots in the final thirty seconds but couldn't get the game-winner in regulation.

The Indians outscored Notus, 10-3, in the extra period to pick up the win.  The tough-luck Pirates, paced by the 14 points of Jacylinn Parra, lost their quarterfinal game by two points after nearly tying the game in the closing seconds.

Freshman Bailee Owens had ten points and eight rebounds for Shoshone, who will take home a state tournament trophy one season after winning just two games.

VALLEY 61, LIBERTY CHARTER 39:  The Vikings blew the game open in the second half after the Patriots battled back from an early deficit in the 1A Division 1 Consolation game on Friday.

Valley out-scored Liberty Charter, 35-20, after intermission to secure the win.

Each player had two players score in double figures.  Jeorgi Kalisek led Valley with 19 points, adding seven rebounds, and Kynsee Mussmann added 12.  Tahhan Sellars just missed a double-double for Valley, scoring nine points and handing out eight assists in the win.  For Liberty Charter, Micaela Hulsey had 14 points while Erika Linford notched ten on 8/10 shooting from the free-throw line.

Valley's lead was just seven points at halftime before erupting for 22 third-quarter points to take control.

The Vikings will face league rival Shoshone Saturday morning for the 1A Division 1 Consolation final.
