IHSAA
Any kid with a phone can see the Final Regular Season Maxpreps rankings has Homedale #2 and Sugar #3. What a shame. Even with a tool in place to remove the human element, IHSAA will still find a way to sprinkle-in some unfairness to the seeding process.

Responding to IDHSAA comment
You do know that #2 and #3 still have to play each other in the semifinals, right? If I were Homedale, I’d rather be the #4 seed and face Fruitland instead of Sugar.

#2 Seed
How did Sugar-Salem get the #2 seed? Like B-Rob states, Homedale is #2 on MaxPreps.

I do know that #2 & #3 play in the semis. #2 gets to HOST. Big difference.

Does it matter
I guess I never noticed, since Sugar keeps winning whenever they play up in Boise.

Sugar vs Homedale Arguement
Its sad not to see these two teams have the chance to meet in the ship again this year. I may be bias towards Sugar obviously, but thought I would put my honest thoughts in here. I thought that first round byes went to conference champions? So seeing Homedale included in the top 4 with a first round bye seems a bit silly when Conf champs like American Falls and Bonners-Ferry have to play a play-in game. It does have Sugar as #3 behind Homedale at #2 in the final maxpreps rankings, but it also has AF and Bonner at #4 and #5 above #6 Kimberly. So why is Kimberly have the first round bye over them? Not to mention #8 Maxpreps Moscow 6-3 who is ranked above: Snake River 5-4 Weiser 5-4 Mc-D 5-4 Gooding 5-3 Teton 2-6 All of which made it to the playoffs, yet Moscow did not? I thought the new system was made to prevent 2-6 teams making it over 6-3 teams? From my experience, I know a bad on paper Teton is much more dangerous than most contenders, and Moscow has been the punching bag of the North when they were a 5A (4A then) for over a decade, but this still looks like the biggest injustice of this years 4A bracket. I know the winners of the play in round are re-shuffled based on max prep ranking going into the Qrters but I think the rankings should have been much better for most teams in this play in round. I have little to no respect for the North at this level. Timberlake has dominated up here for the better part of 20 years and has yet to get past the play in round more than once. However, seeing a conference champion, 7-2, #5 max prep ranked, Bonner-Ferry be ranked dead last at #12 is just plain wrong....

Playoff Placement
Coach Newell, I appreciate your input. I am more into basketball and gave little thought to the placement of conference champs. You are correct, why do conference champs have to play in to the tournament? Who decides the placement of the football teams? I would like an explanation so I can understand

seedings
With all do respect Coach Newell, American Falls was not a conference champion. It was Snake River from that league and up north the teams schedule nothing but 3A teams, so they get what they get for the seedings. I do say that South Fremont should have been in over Teton.

Rroundy
Yea, sorry about that. I honestly did not check, just assumed by max prep rankings. But the same argument applies why did Homedale, a non conference champ, receive a first round bye over Snake River? Also, im not sure how the two stack up this year but Sugar has a massive home field advantage playing in the ISU dome. I remember coaching against Shelley there in the playoffs of 2016, and they had homefield side. Well the way they let the fans in for highschool playoffs is they all sit on the same side of the dome, the visitors side. The sidelines are like baseball fields and cut into the wall like dugout. So the both set of cheer leaders are right above the visitors team. And it gets so loud that you can't effectively communicate even with head sets. I've never experienced a home field advantage like it. My cousins kid who Coaches at St. Marie's up north, said that the visitors who play Orofino at home have to walk along the barbed wire fense of the insane asylum/ prison there. That sound pretty wicked but still not as great as the home field advantage in the dome.
