ORDER GAME PHOTOS

The 2025 Idaho State Wrestling Championships held at Holt Arena (ICCU Dome) on the campus of Idaho State University lived up to all my pre-tournament expectations and much more. It was definitely a barnburner of an event from start to finish. This year’s Class 6A crowned two 3x Champions, two 2x Champions in addition to eight more winning their first. Additionally, four wrestlers earned a rare fourth state medal, sixteen with number three, and twenty-three more earning their second. The team race between Post Falls and Meridian lived up to all the pre-tournament hype and much more.

The 6A division produced a large contingent of wrestlers with multiple state titles, placings, and All-American honors to their credit. Joining the 3x State Champions Club is Nampa’s top tier lightweight Ryan Hirchert (106s) and four-time placer Seth Martin of Post Falls (190s), who is committed to compete for JUCO power North Idaho College. Earning their first state title this year includes Rocky Mountain’s Cole Jensen (98s), Matthew Hamilton (Post Falls, 113s), 3x finalist Vincent Contreras (Nampa, 120s), 16U Folkstyle National Champion Blake Nevills (Meridian, 126s), Onyx Kunsaitis (144s/All-American), Coeur d’ Alene’s Colton Tucker (150s) and Brock Armstrong (165s), Antonio Genovesi (Eagle, 175s), Garrett Leonard (Lake City, 215s), Rex Salas (Madison, 285s), and All-Americans Draven Johns (Caldwell, 132s), Logan Shaver (Meridian, 157s), and Canyon Ridge’s Sean Hall at 138s.

A total of five wrestlers earned their fourth state medal. Leading this talented group is a pair of four-time finalist. They include 2x State Champion/All-American Jeremiah Gonzalez (Meridian, 120s) and 3x Champion/All-American Rider Sequin of Post Falls (138s). Others joining this small group is Caldwell’s Draven Johns (132s), Trey Smith (Post Falls, 175s), and Seth Martin (Post Falls, 190s). On top of that, a total of sixteen wrestlers earned their third respective state medal, seven of which return next season. Additionally, a total of twenty-three wrestlers earned their second medal (see list below).

The team race materialized as predicted. From the first whistle through the preliminary rounds, it was an intense battle between state powers Post Falls and Meridian. As discussed, prior, it required an “All-Hands on Deck” performance to prevail on top. In the end, Post Falls prevailed in the medal matches to secure their fifth overall team title since 2015.

Taking a closer look at the 6A state results, I list all 3x Champions, 2x Champions, 1x Champions as well as multiple placers and All-Americans.
