The Idaho High School Activities Association announced today that the Board of Directors have approved ten weight classes this year for girls wrestling. To help with state tournament seeding and weigh-ins, the weights were kept as close as possible to the boys weight classes.
Like last year, there will still be an eight-girl bracket for the state tournament. The Board will determine representation for each district/region at the December board meeting scheduled for December 7, 2021. See the posted agenda here.
The IHSAA also reported that the number of girls participating in wrestling this year is 388, up from around 250 the past two seasons.
