The Albertsons Big Deal of the Week is a new addition to IdahoSports.com in which student-athletes who excel in the classroom and competitively are selected on a weekly basis to be featured on the site. Each recipient of this weekly honor receives a $100 Albertsons gift card and is featured as a top story on IdahoSports.com.

Our next selection will be participating in the 8-Man District 4 Shrine Game on Memorial Day after helping lead his baseball team to the state championship game at the 1A level this season. Carson Grigg is a 3.1 GPA student and will be attending the University of Montana Western to play football in the fall.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I have lived in Glenns Ferry my whole life and have grown up playing sports and enjoying the outdoors and have enjoyed every minute. My dad coached me early on and got me hooked on sports at an early age. I am the tallest in my family at 6’3” and my sister played soccer and basketball at Edmonds Community College. Hunting, fishing and being with friends and family are important to me.

What is your favorite sport to watch? Participate in?
My favorite is college football! I signed my Letter of Intent to play at the University of Montana Western in February of 2019.

As a student-athlete, which is harder - being a student, or being an athlete? Why?
I think that being an athlete is harder just because you still have to be a good student to be eligible to play. Bad grades and you don’t play. Time management is important.

Overall GPA:
3.10

What is the best thing you have learned from playing sports in high school?
I have learned so much in 4 years that it is hard to narrow it down, but I would definitely say that being unselfish is the most important. Earning the respect of your peers is important too and understanding your role as a freshman vs. a senior goes along with that. Overall, working as a team has been the best and I have had the best teammates!

Favorite high school memory, so far?
It was probably winning our state baseball game this year against Prairie High School, pitching a complete game and making it to the championship game against Potlatch. Even though we finished second place, we had a great year!

Who is your favorite teacher? Why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Hance! His classes are the most fun and I always look forward to going to his class. He was also my mentor on my Senior Project.

What kind of car gets you around town?
I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota that was my dad’s old truck. It’s been mine to drive since I have had my license.

Cat person or dog person?
Dog for sure! I have a six year old Chocolate Lab named Drake.

Favorite food?
Carne Asada Tacos.

You have an entire weekend with no plans. What do you do?
Sleep in, get my chores done and then go fishing!

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
I would really like to meet Michael Phelps. I think that his dedication to his sport and his success is something that is admirable and something to work towards.

What is something most people do not know about you?
I like to dip pizza in ranch dressing when I eat it!

What celebrity would play you if they made a movie about your life?
Probably Ashton Kutcher.

What was the last song you listened to?
Neon Moon by Brooks & Dunn.

What are your plans after high school (college, work, etc.)?
Attending the University of Montana Western and study business.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?
Owning my own business.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?
“Nothing is free in life,” Ret. Col. USAF Dale Smith.

Any shoutouts:
My parents for pushing me to work hard, my teammates over the last four years for giving it their all and all of my coaches and teachers for everything they do and have done for me.
