As we closed the books on our 18th year online, we looked back to see how we did as far as state-wide coverage of the schools and teams in Idaho. It's always good to see where we succeeded and where we need to pick up the slack in the upcoming school year.
From August through May, we averaged 193,000 visits and over 1.6 million page views per month. Not bad for a little high school sports web site in Idaho.
What we also found was that every single school/co-op was covered by IdahoSports.com either with an individual game webcast, tournament webcast or action photo gallery. Of course, this doesn't include the thousands of schedules and scores we also provide each year.
No other company, media outlet or website in Idaho (or nation-wide company) can say that.
Photo Galleries - 1,217 individual galleries
We can't say enough about the team of action photographers we have here at IdahoSports.com. The amount of time, energy and personal resources they pour in to the coverage they provide can never be truly counted. I firmly believe we have the best group of sports action photographers in the entire country.
Our action photographers keep 100% of everything they sell through IdahoSports.com. That's how they are compensated for everything they do. Take some time and see for yourself the quality of photos we have in the galleries and feel free to order a few. You won't get these kinds of shots with your IPhone sitting in the stands.
Live/Archived GameStreams - 467 individual and tournament webcasts
We have been live video streaming high school sports since 2004. I could be wrong, but from the research we have done, IdahoSports.com was the first web site in the COUNTRY to live video stream high school sports.
This year during state basketball we upgraded our streaming in a big way. We switched to a more compatible platform, nearly doubled the size of the viewer window and upgraded our equipment so that we now provide a MUCH clearer picture. It wasn't cheap, but the feedback we got from the schools, families and fans made it all worthwhile.
The best thing is that while so many other states have hopped on the Pay-Per-View bangwagon, we are able to provide these services FREE OF CHARGE to the schools, athletes, families and fans of Idaho. The fact that the IHSAA can provide all of the support and services they do for their member schools without charging grandma and grandpa to watch a state tournament game online is something we should all be proud of. Kudos to everyone at the IHSAA, the IHSAA Board of Directors and of course the United Dairymen of Idaho.
Of course, we couldn't do anything without all of the companies and businesses that advertise with us. Please remember to thank them when you see them.
Keep an eye on the web site starting in late July as we start putting up State-Wide Football Team Previews. Every football team in the state will be represented - just one more thing you will ONLY find on IdahoSports.com.
In addition to improving the things we already do, we are also working on a few NEW features for the upcoming school year. More coverage, more features, more things to keep you coming back for more.
Have a great summer everyone, and thanks for making IdahoSports.com YOUR #1 website for high school sports information!
