On Jan. 28, 2019 youth sports directors, middle and high school AD’s, and sports official commissioners met to discuss the climate of youth sports in Eastern Idaho. Concerns of referee shortages, sportsmanship, and negative parent/coach interactions (locally and nationwide) inspired this first-ever coaching clinic offered to all who are involved in youth sports in Eastern Idaho. Endorsed by the Idaho High School Activities Association, this clinic will offer general coaching and officiating sessions as well as sport-specific training including football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, hockey, and wrestling. The hope is that this clinic will be a catalyst to addressing positive sportsmanship in our area and provide valuable training for youth sport volunteers who do not currently receive training.
Presenters include current and former youth sport coaches, officials, and prominent youth sports figures.
