The Albertsons Big Deal of the Week is a new addition to IdahoSports.com in which student-athletes who excel in the classroom and competitively are selected on a weekly basis to be featured on the site. Each recipient of this weekly honor receives a $100 Albertsons gift card and is featured as a top story on IdahoSports.com.
Our selection this week is Mackenzie Connell from Twin Falls High School. Connell helped lead the Twin Falls softball team to an undefeated regular season within the 4A Great Basin Ten Conference and has committed to Walla Walla Community College to play at the next level. In the classroom she is a 3.556 GPA student.

My life is based around softball and my family.
Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it?
Kenzer. Coach Burk gave it to me while playing.
What is your favorite sport to watch? Participate in?
Football to watch and softball to participate in.
As a student-athlete, which is harder - being a student, or being an athlete? Why?
Student, because I do not have natural talent at being the smartest.

What is the best thing you have learned from playing sports in high school?
How to be humble and coachable.
Favorite high school memory, so far?
Getting hit by a line drive and finishing pitching the game to beat Jerome.
Who is your favorite teacher? Why?
Ms. Johnson because she truly cares about her students.
What kind of car gets you around town?
A 2010 yellow Volkswagen Beetle.
Cat person or dog person?
Dog person.
Favorite food?
Mexican food.
You have an entire weekend with no plans. What do you do?
Hang out with friends or family.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
Freddie Mercury.
What is something most people do not know about you?
I love hunting big game animals.
What celebrity would play you if they made a movie about your life?
Jennifer Lopez.
What was the last song you listened to?
Good as You by Kane Brown.
What are your plans after high school (college, work, etc.)?
To attend Walla Walla Community College and study dentistry.
When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?
A dental hygienist or a dentist.
What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?
“I know you can do anything, and you can know you can do anything,” Grandpa Frank.
