To say we are thrilled would be an understatement.
When the numbers report for the weekend rolled in to my inbox Monday morning I wasn't sure what to expect. We had some great quarterfinal and semifinal games the past couple of weeks, but that doesn't always translate in to high GameStreams numbers. Especially in the
new era of audio-only that we are in.
What the numbers said, however, is that more of you are tuning in/logging on (however you want to say it) than ever before. The past three weeks have brought record traffic to the website as well as record traffic to our video and audio GameStreams.
Quarterfinals (live viewers/listeners)
2016 (18 games): 156,123
2017 (20 games): 192,036
Net gain of 928 per game
Semifinals (live viewers/listeners)
2016 (12 games): 90,414
2017 (12 games): 135,920
Net gain of 3,792 per game
This weekend the state championship games will be played at the Kibbie Dome, Middleton High School and Holt Arena. Definitely be there in person if you can. You can even
buy your tickets online so you don't have to stand in line.
If you just can't make it, we'll be at all three locations to audio-webcast all six state championship games live and free. We'll also have our action photographers on the sideline taking shots so you can site back and enjoy the game.
Check out all the information here.
Last fall 61,386 fans enjoyed listening to the six state championship games on IdahoSports.com. I'm looking forward to reporting back next week how you helped us shatter that record too.
