Bear Lake enters the 2018 season looking to regroup following a 4-5 campaign last year that ended at the hands of eventual state champion Declo.

The Bears, who lost 15 seniors overall from last year’s squad, will lean on a junior class which has seen the success the previous two classes have enjoyed, including their run to the 2016 state semifinals. In the tough 2A South East Idaho Conference and with a new playoff format now in play, Bear Lake will need to be in top gear once league play rolls around.

The new season kicks off in earnest on Aug. 24 when the Bears travel southward to face the Rich Rebels of Randolph, Utah. Bear Lake will then host three straight games in Montpelier, including contests against Jackson, Wyoming on Aug. 31, South Fremont on Sept. 7, and a conference contest against 2A power Aberdeen on Sept. 14.

The blue-and-black will then play three straight away from home, with matchups at Marsh Valley on Sept. 21, at Soda Springs on Sept. 28, and at Malad on Oct. 5. The season concludes at home with a contest against West Side on Oct. 12.
